Seeing Beyond

Rate this book
Talisa’s sister with special needs is missing. Who can she believe: The handsome psychiatrist she hoped might help her cope with her parent’s death or her sister’s friend who has God-given visions through the eyes of people in trouble? The man she had hoped would heal her might be a killer. The man she trusted like family might be a deceiver. The gift she believed in might be a fake. And, the only person who can help her is the one man she can’t forgive. Humor and suspense collide as Talisa discovers how little she really knows about the people around her and herself. Can she see beyond it all, to where the truth and true love might finally set her free? This twist filled story takes you to the Ozark county of Gilead, Oklahoma, where on the shores of Lake Gallant, you will find: Talisa who is struggling with depression; her neighbor, Sawyer, a psychiatrist to the criminally insane, who Talisa had hoped might be her answer; Luke, the witty sheriff with a talent for deceiving the deceivers and manipulating the manipulators; Janie, her sister who struggles to communicate; and Teddy Baskins, the “Enigma,” who is either amazingly gifted, or a clever charlatan. Get ready for a wholesome story that will make you laugh, cry and challenge you to see beyond.

I was really excited to read this book, and I was not disappointed! If you are looking for a good Christian read, I highly recommend Seeing Beyond. This book deals with a lot of realistic personal pain, but there is plenty of humor and hope to balance it out. (And some solid marriage advice, btw.)

Oh, and for your information, the fight scenes are *awesome.* (Probably has something to do with the real-life experience of the author...) Talisa's scuffle with a random homeless guy is probably one of my favorite scenes from the book.

Overall, a very enjoyable and thought-provoking read, and I'm looking forward to reading more by this author.

Luke had always loved Talisa the thought to make her laugh as though she was a queen and he was a court jester. Through high school, when did things go wrong. Teddy has visions is this one of murder, has special needs and is missing. Luke the guy who teased even when she said to stop. He is the sheriff, a plot with a lot of actions, and the calamities.

This book had believable characters, families who cared deeply about each other, and a respect for their special needs loved ones. What I loved most was the suspense! The author has a way of making you totally engrossed in the story and I experienced the magical book turning effect—I couldn’t stop. I had to find out what happened. I’ll definitely read more from Kent Wyatt.
