Stephen Swift: In the Shadow of Tomorrow

Rate this book
Is the age of heroes over before it's even begun? Meet Stephen Swift, the latest recruit to the secret school for the heroes of the future. Or, at least, he was. Then the school was shut down because of budget cuts, and Stephen was thrown back into the world, newly redundant and his memories taken from him for reasons of national security. Waking up in a small town with no idea how he got there, Stephen uses his newly acquired powers to become its protector, working tirelessly to fight crime and making himself something of a phenomenon in the process. But Stephen isn't the only ex-student struggling to find his place in the world. There's Evelyn, the vigilante of London tracking down those who prey on the poor and vulnerable as she fights for social justice. And there's also Victoria, angry and looking to assemble an army of superpowered individuals to fight a campaign of terror against the world that she feels abandoned her. Together, Stephen and Evelyn must defend the world that Victoria seeks to wage war against. But are they fighting for the right side? And how exactly do you beat someone who can control time itself? It looks like the world might just need heroes after all.
