The Authentic Life of Billy the Kid
By Pat F. Garret
I was watching the show on Billy and Pat and wanted to learn more. Since Pat is the one that killed Billy, I took this version with a grain of salt. It also had lots of grammar issues. If the show is accurate, Pat was in the same cattle rustling group as Billy but Pat was a cold blooded killer.

I wanted to read this because I have the same birthday as Billy the Kid, but this was one of the most boring 120 pages I’ve ever read in my life. Don’t even get me started on the editing/lack thereof.

It's fine. Take it with a grain of salt but in combination with other books it paints a good picture

If you’ve ever watched ‘Young Guns’ or ‘Young Guns 2’ don’t expect to get the same story when you read this book. It seems obvious that Garrett wanted to make himself sound like a hero and a well respected law man when he wrote this. It’s long-winded and full of whimsical verbiage rather than downright writing about the facts. I’m glad I bought it used and didn’t pay full price.
