John Newmeyer's second book of essays covers five topic Social and Physical Health, History, Class, The Gay World, and Fun & Games. Discover why Communism failed ("Public and Private Theft"), why burglars and speedfreaks may quietly disappear ("Evaporation"), and how to judge men's phallic claims ("Cock Size in Gay Escort Ads"). Learn about the Great Pox and chastity, the nine types of gay men, five-handed bridge, and common-sense solutions to homelessness, begging, and public inebriation.
Managed to move through John Newmeyer's collection of essays in one day with my attention overall completely engaged. His succinct observations of the human condition, especially in light of the work he does at the Haight Ashbury Free Clinic informs his concepts with a humanity that kept me desiring to turn to the next page and finish this reading in one day. Although, not a psychologist or individual familiar first hand with the trials and tribulations of the lower class and its issues, he attempts with imagination to at least posit possibilities to bring everyone of all social classes forward. Looking forward to more in time.
