Well, I've got four of them and more is turning out not to be merrier.
I’m just an ordinary girl in an ordinary world until my brother reveals our family’s little (big) We’re Fae.
And not just that—Fae royalty. I traded my Starbucks for a tiara just in time for my welcome home party.
I didn’t know what to expect going to the Fae realm, but it sure as hell wasn’t them.
The cold ruler who won’t stop threatening to throw icicles at my face.
The passionate bookworm whose sword is as sharp as his tongue.
The brilliant tactician whose motives I can’t trust.
And my best friend. My protector; my betrayer.
But right now, they are the least of my worries. After my brother is murdered, I’m forced to take the throne and pick up the pieces. And that shiny new crown sure makes for an easy target.
This is the story of one reluctant faery queen and her four arrogant princes.
Trust me. This is no fairy tale.
~ Contains a non-graphic scene of assault and depicts symptoms of PTSD.
3.5 stars. Queen of Fire started off with a bang and the tempo stays throughout the book. Extremely fast paced and an easy read. The storyline is interesting and it will definitely keep your attention but there was a little something missing. Although, I am looking forward to the next installment.
Morgan has lived a difficult life in the human world. Then, her brother arrives and she finds out that she is a Fae Princess and not human at all. The plot moves along at a constant pace and you are unsure where it is going next until you get there. Morgan is a compelling snarky character. I look forward to the next book.
I loved this book. Morgan was an interesting character that was thrown into a very difficult situation. Enemies surrounded her and she did everything she could to stand up and do whatever was necessary.
I imagined a powerful queen taking over but it’s certainly not like that. No one can be trusted, everyone is plotting... Morgan is gang raped and no rage, no real retribution. Maybe In the second book but from the blurb I read the storyline is heading straight to her relationships with 4 men. I’m not sure how the author is going to have a rape victim be okay with sleeping with other men so soon. Especially with men that treat women like cattle. At the very least her magic could have defended her and obliterated the men before they touched her. I don’t understand the purpose of having her gang raped. My other issue is the lack of any real training and keeping everything hidden. They continue to reference her ignorance but I see everyone working hard to keep her in the dark instead. And then yell at her or shame her for being ignorant. Crazy cycle. I had such high hopes but you’re left with a woman’s worst nightmare and still don’t know how this world works. There was also a weird section about 60% into the book where every line was separated by 3 stars. I’m not sure if it was on purpose or not but it was definitely odd and annoying.
I wanted to like this book so bad but at 60% I’m just over never getting a straight answer about anything in this freaking book. She finds out she’s Fae and that everyone she trusts has been lying her all her life. She’s then thrust into a Fae and every single page it’s like she keeps asking questions to find out what is going on and every single page she never gets any new information. She literally is crowned queen and still has no idea about any of the people she’s supposed to rule, her magic, nothing. She insists in trying to find her brothers killer but again she has no knowledge of anything it’s infuriating. There’s so much I just don’t know and doubt I’ll get an answer to that I literally just don’t want to finish the book anymore. That being said the writing is Kool or whatever and if you can get through the mystery of it all I’m sure you’ll like it.
I liked Morgan, her sass and her views and how she doesn't blindly trust anyone but I didn't like how powerless she was especially what happens to her with the air princes. Obviously she has magic even if it is a little obstreperous so I would really like to see her get a handle on that and be able to defend herself. And while it is clear where things are heading on the romance front there is really very little in the way of actual romance in this one - which by the way works with the story and the events. I am really hoping there will be some interesting developments on the magic front as well as the romantic front in the next book.
So basically Morgan is.a secret fae princess and now that everyone knows she is in a whole lot of danger...and four hot guys of course.
I really did not enjoy this one. First of all the guys (one especially) were all kind of jerks who never gave her a straight answer about anything. And Morgan herself was just a bad character for me. She just started making these random speeches, I think they were supposed to be inspirational or show how tough she was but they often didn't even make sense with what was happening in the story. And then I'm supposed to believe she is tough because she curses and trusts no one...that doesn't really work for me.
this is rating on its potential rather than reality. There were times when the main was clever and ruthless and almost grown-up adult, and the rest when she was a child-insecure,didn't face her problems, was downright stupid. The Heroes are undeveloped didn't really keep my interest and the rest of the characters very very one-dimensional. But it could've been great with a good editor and more story development. That said maybe the 2nd book realizes the potential-because I very much like the world Adair created.
It's tough because this genre is new and many of the authors are new as well. The writing is well done. The story interesting. However this version of Fae doesn't really line up with other stories. I think it would have been better if it wasn't supposed to be a Far story. Many of them speak like humans but claim to have never been to Earth. Also they don't act centuries old like they claim.
Other then that the story is interesting and I'm enjoying it.
Such a different take on Fae and an awesome start to a series. This book was so action packed right from the begining. I read it in one sitting I that drawn to the pages needing to know what happened next and by the time I finished I was left hanging with questions un answered. I really must know who done it. It's a question that is going to keep me up at night until I get my hands on book 2.
Morgan is a strong female character however the fact that i could finish this book in less than a day and i have to wait till February it just means that’s how every book will be cliffhanger and a long time of waiting
I wanted to like this book, but didnt... MC is very immature for a 21 year old, might have beleived she was an immature 18yo. Also disturbed by how the gang rape was portrayed, especially how she is treated and acts afterward. *shudder*
Many leading characters with distinctly different motives make for an interesting read. Morgan gets thrown into an impossible situation where she needs to learn the ropes quickly.
Not my favourite combinations. Keeps mouthing off and getting into compromising situations and needing saving. Adding insult to injury then claiming she can take care of herself.
This waa a good book with a great storyline and interesting characters. Morgan is a strong heroine with a great sense of humor. I look forward to continuing her story.
Loved this book, finished it a while ago and didn't have time to leave a review immediately so this review will be short but just know that this book is AMAZING. It hooks you in from the start and keeps up the pace throughout the entire book. Morgan is an easy character to get attached to due to her big heart and her ability to stay true to herself despite being in a foreign world. She is a strong character and I absolutely cannot wait to see what happens next!
I usually don't leave bad/fair reviews but I couldn't even finish this book. I'm at 86% and have no desire to go further. 3 stars is my way of being nice. This book just seriously irritates me! The main character is such a wus. She has no backbone at all. I actually didn't like one single character in this book. Even if the by the end she finally defends herself, it's just too late for me to ever picture her as a strong character after the things she has allowed to happen to her.
