Self Versus

Rate this book
I took a pen and sat to write in jest
a story too remote from actual truth.
But fiction some though it may be, the rest
is based on honest, vivid dreams of youth

Sweet fancy’s where all stories base their core.
Platonic fish in time’s blue oceans dive.
To tell a lie is truth to help explore,
until the meaning of it all can thrive

Concocted in a fit of conscious rage,
(the land where hopes of better life reside),
the fear of life these musings must assuage,
to them my secret wish I must confide.

The old, forgotten story of my dad,
and yet ’bout him this isn’t, not at all.
Hear this though now, a thing I have to add:
it neither tells of me, nor of my fall.

The more I think, the more I grasp the clue:
this tells of all of us, including you.

Important Note
This narrative poem, Self Versus, is a companion piece to the novel Versus Self. Both works essentially narrate the same plot and can be read independently. However, they have been written as complementary to each other, and audiences should seek to read them both, as they highlight different aspects and certain meanings contained in one are absent from the other. Furthermore, although the order is not crucial, the author’s suggestion is that audiences should read Self Versus first, and Versus Self afterwards.

Furthermore, the project is currently not available for sale. A very limited number of paperback copies will be offered through various channels. If you're interested in reading, send the author a message to request a free digital copy.
