If These Pews Could Talk

Rate this book
Every saint was once a sinner, but maybe a little sin still lives in us all.

Easter Young is a devoted housewife, loving mother, and first lady who’s tired of coming second and finally ready to put herself first. Having fallen in the shadows of her prominent, preaching husband, Pastor Bryce Young, for the past sixteen years, Easter becomes jaded, striving to find her light after dimming it for so long.

She’s desperate for a life outside of the church, and even more desperate to get away from the one man she thought she’d love forever... Bryce. Fast cars, fancy clothing—none of it is enough to make her stay. She’s taken all that she could take. The secrets, the lies, and the betrayal.

Already pushed to the edge, Easter reaches her breaking point when she receives a groundbreaking revelation about Bryce that not only shakes up her marriage but stuns the whole community.
As time goes on, more problems arise and shocking matters are brought to the forefront. Although Bryce’s closet may be full of skeletons, that doesn’t necessarily mean that Easter’s is clean.
These pews just keep on talking, and it’s safe to say, they aren’t shutting up any time soon.

I enjoyed this book, especially the writing style. The plot was gripping, but several info dumps made this read slow and some things dragged on.

I wouldn’t call this Christian fiction, there is way too much cursing in it. In certain chapters there was cursing in every sentence it seemed like. This is my first time reading this author. This book was filled with drama and defiantly left me at the edge of my seat wanting more. I could do without the cursing.

First read by this author. This pastor had so much going on & causing more chaos on every other page. The supporting cast was right behind him with just as much drama. Easter should tread lightly for pastor is mentally unstable. I'm looking forward to reading how Bryce slithers out of this mess in part 2

This book was really good! Two best friends are sleeping with each others wives and one has a love child that the other is raising as his own! There is a lot of drama that makes this a good page turner. I look forward to reading the next book! Great job Ashley Te'arra!

WHEW!!!!!!!!

The whole Church is a mess. Starting with the Pastor who has no business being behind the pulpit. Bryce was as crooked and trifling as they come and nobody seemed to see through him. Bryce so cocky and full of himself but his skeletons are slowly coming out of the closet and some of his dirty deeds are catching up with him. He also doesn't realize that he has a past that is about to come back and haunt him in the form of Harlem. First Lady Easter has covered up and lied for Bryce for so long. When another secret comes out. She is sickened by it and refuses to go down with him. Easter wasn't a Angel though. She had her own secret that set Bryce on a rampage when he found out. Terrence and Erin are equally a mess. Erin is hiding something from Terrence that could possibly make him snap. Terrence is is tired of his wife but he isn't squeaky clean either

This is a first read for this author and I am looking for book 2. This book had so much drama with the pews talking. Many churches have so much going on and this is why some people don't tend to go to church for simply because of the gossiping. If a man of God can't be trusted why should anyone want to go to church. BI am looking forward to seeing Bryce fall from grace and Terrance is no better since he is suppose to be Bryce's friend. Erin is just as scandalous to be sleeping with her husband friend, but also the Easter was sleeping with her husband's friend too. I thought this whole church mess was just wrong on so many levels and that the father should take back his church. I guess book 2 can bring so more light to all of this story since it was actually a page turner.

A great, drama filled read!

This is my first read by this author and the drama never stopped! My mouth dropped at the deceit and betrayal amongst the people in the church. While it’s true in some churches, they all just had no respect for God. I did like how you showed that church folks come with baggage, too. I would, however, would have liked to see someone with some morals. Sadly, I didn’t. I gave it a four because it got very busy and things were popping up all over the place. I had to slow down to follow the scandal. Not a bad thing there was a lot of scandal but I did want to see some vulnerable, soft and loving moments. Everyone was a savage in their own right! Lol! But here for part 2! Great job!

Secrets and Lies

This is my first time reading a book by this author. Most of all of the characters had drama going on and stabbing each other in the back. There are so many lies and secrets going on. As soon as things started to come together and getting good then the book ends by saying to be continued. I hope the author does not take to long for the continuation of the story otherwise I will forget who did who and how some characters have secrets that are being revealed and exposed.

Juicy

I had already figured out that Harlem is bryce's kid...I knew that the secret his mother was talking about was of Bryce murdering that woman because she was going to expose his dirt! I can't wait to see justice be served to all these phony bible thumpers...this book exposes everything about why I stopped going to church and have little desire to return!!!! Church folks are the biggest sinners...

It was okay just had a lot of cursing and sexual content.
Bryce said, yes he's a preacher and he curse, deal with it. He said ain't nothing changed about him.
He was married to Easter, and sleeping with Erin, who also had a daughter by him name Trinity.
Easter was having an affair with his best friend Terrence who was also married to Erin.
Some of you might say, Well he's only human and he is just like any other man.
Church isn't always full of saints, it has sinners too.

My Review

Bryce is a very shady character I see. He has so many skeletons & things are slowly coming out. Easter had no idea what she was getting herself into. Unfortunately she mad choices & decisions & now she has to live with them. As for Terrance I expected him to snap at any moment, Erin is ridiculous, she should've left that man alone but her greed is doing her in. What will happen next??

Dammit Man

It's true. What's done in the dark with some to light. These men in the pulpit making the "REAL" preachers and pastors look real bad. I can't wait to see what happens to Mr. Bryce. So is he Harlem's dad? I already know he ain't shit by the way he treats his wife. Nothing else would surprise me about him!!!!!

Straight Fire 🔥

Ashley you did this !!!!! Bryce is everything wrong in the church and I can’t wait to him and his enabling mom receive their karma in the next installment. Easter deserves happiness and I’m praying her and Harlem paths crisscross real good. I can’t wait to see what’s in store. Let me cut this short, I need to get to part 2 .

Horrid Ratchet Book!

I have read hood books that could tell a story without the erotica and violence of this book for it to be under the guise of a Christian church with a story of hypocrites and false teachers.

Reconsider this choice.

This book has a lot of drama going on but the cut off made you angry. Every drama is just left open, secrets begin to be expose and you are left to wonder the outcome. Ended with too many unresolved situation.

I cant tell you how many times i wished that i went to that church so that i would have the opportunity to slap easter, erin and that horrible pastor. THat's what makes a good book, when the author can draw you in and make you love or hate the characters.

Talking Pews

Life for Bryce Young has been anything but good. With accusations making headlines and bribe deals on the table, what is Pastor to do? This story gets more and more juicy and I can't wait to read part 2!

The best book ever

Pastor Bryce Young, his wife Easter, his best friend Terrance and Terrance’s wife Erin have weaved a terrible web of deceit. Affairs, money scandals, illegitimate children are just the tip of the iceberg of this plot, because the rape scandals and hits for murder will definitely have you gasping for air.

Pleasant read

It was a good read, but kinda dragged somewhat. Maybe the 2nd part will be a little better. The story is interesting enough to want to see what happens next.
