“Magic never lies. I’m forced to make a choice. And once I decide, I can never go back.”

Mirella has failed in her duties as Heart Maiden. Distracted by past romances and unable to properly summon her powers, Mirella has left her enclave vulnerable.

Then the worst happens—she slips fully into madness.

Mirella is taken away to a facility where she’ll be held against her will, until the council decides the day of her execution. Even worse, the tziganes have taken her love, Kane, as prisoner.

But Mirella isn’t ready to die. She decides to fight back, to save herself and Kane, and is forced to go on the run. Her actions cause the entire tzigane community to erupt into civil war.

Mirella can’t save her people without a sacrifice—one that can only end in blood.

Fate Summoner is the fifth book in the incredibly stunning Fire Heart Chronicles series. A paranormal romance with just the right amount of action, adventure, and heat, fans of urban fantasy won’t be able to get enough this incredible fantasy world!

Juliana Haygert’s The Fire Heart Chronicles has been consistently enjoyable but now, in Fate Summoner (Book 5), the tempo is definitely rising. Mirella is going to shake the very foundations of her society. Change is in the air and the promise of action, adventure and truly powerful paranormal romance has been given to we readers. Boy are we ever lucky.

You do really need to read the prior books (no hardship there) before this one but I can fairly guarantee you’ll find yourself addicted, and then will love this book as well. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

I find each one of these books both entertaining and frustrating poor Mirella never seems to get a break and especially since she became the fire heart maiden. She's trusted those that should have been there for her namely her mother shes made horrible romantic decisions been betrayed by friends even her own magic now her onclave well enough said. She has Kane now but for how long and is he her salvation from the visions or madness that she seems to be spiraling into is there love doomed to. They will have to fight to stay alive and together lets hope that Kane will be the one that helps Mirella before its to late. I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.

My goodness. This was awesome. So much happens to Mirella in this episode. I read this in a day because I was totally captivated. I don’t normally like books with romance in but I’ve had to make an exception with this series. The storyline and characters are so solid . There is everything here for the reader. Passion, intrigue, Magic and sadness. I’ll not reveal any spoilers. The story is on going but Mirella is evolving like the caterpillar to a butterfly. Please don’t miss out on this series. I’m glad I didn’t.

Great tragedy. Hopefully, you have been following along through the other stories in the series. Mirella's life is not simple. And tragedy strikes all around her. But, hope has started to light her life just a bit. There must be more to come and I look forward to reading the next part of Mirella's story.

I received a copy of this book as a gift. I am leaving my honest review.

Fate Summoner Juliana Haygert

Wow, Mirella leads an amazingly exciting, and dangerous life, and when she seems to have a grip on a little downtime with peace and quiet, "Yeah, it all breaks loose!" This latest installment of the Heart Maiden has so much action, fights, stealth, danger, surprises, life, and more sad death in it, that I was almost out of breath by the time I finished it. Normally I can guess the general direction a book is going to follow, but Juliana threw curve after curve in Fate Summoner. I normally like to take a couple of days of easy reading to finish a book, but I absolutely only broke for food as one page led to the next, and I had to see what the next chapter brought. I won't give details in this review because this is one book that shouldn't have any preconceived ideas because it won't turn out the way you think. And in this latest addition to the Heart Maden Saga, keep your Wine, Coffee, Soft drinks, Snacks, or whatever you need close at hand, because this truly is an adventure from Page-one, to the shocking twist at the end.

Book 5 in the series and the relationship between Mirrlla and Kane continues to grow! I love these two characters and have grown fond of their relationship. Mirella uses the strength and stability she gets from Kane to rise above and help her friends, family, and community.

In this book, Mirella finds herself failing at the spring ceremony, death of friends, happiness of a lost family member, torture of a loved one, fighting for control and the endless cycles continues. She never seems to get a break!

I do enjoy the authors writing, but I am ready for Mirella to step up, become the heroine, and get the happy ending!

Another awesome book in this series!

I can't say enough how much i love this story. And the main character Mirella just keeps amazing me with each new book. She continues to become stronger and stronger and despite all odds she never gives up. The madness that threatens to destroy her life is no match for her i believe so. She is just that kickass! Her story is always full of action and surprises, twists and turns. There's always something happening to make the story even more interesting and addicting! Let me just say that I was SO HAPPY at one point of the story it was such a happy surprise for me! The last book made me cry because of a certain someone dying... i won't say anything else. Let's just say, i highly recommend reading this book and this entire series. It's so GOOD! I can't wait to see what happens next in Mirella's story.

Mirella failed. During the first spring festival with a Heart Maiden ceremony held in hundreds of years, her magic was meant to secure a bountiful spring with the promise of an abundance of heart flowers. Instead, the land is dying. She got distracted during the ceremony and her jealousy poisoned the land. Now the council has a reason to hold her, execute her. And not only her but Kane and Trina as well. However, Mirella isn’t the same lost girl she was a few months ago. Now she understands her magic and her power. Now she will fight back. Now she has friends who will help.
While I still demand more, Mirella is finally taking the first step to claim her birthright. She is the heart Maiden, a powerful tzigane. It’s time she faced Darcy and the council down for the good of all their people. Use the power of the Maiden to bring wrongs to light and make life better. Clean house, then face the outside threats. Disband the council, toss Artan aside, or better yet, send him and Kizzy to her home,  and bring new leadership to the enclave. Then stop Demara, alchemists, and revenants, so they can get back to eating,  dancing, magicking, and living life to the fullest.
Again, the surprise in this book was not a surprise. The author has two weaknesses in my opinion. She is not good at writing about romantic relationships; really any close relationship. When friendship or romance falls apart, I’m never sad and sometimes I’m not even sure if there was ever a true closeness. Mirella and Artan were never a huge love affair. Ellie is not a great friend, much less a best friend. She’s much better at writing antagonistic relationships.  She also gives too many signals (hint, hint, foreshadow, overreact one time, no reaction the next), so by the time a big surprise is revealed, it’s not a surprise at all. For example, I could tell you right now who will betray Mirella next and why Kane can keep her heart fever away. No fears, I don’t do spoilers. I do wish the author would add a little more complexity to her writing style to go along with her creativity. 3.5

One ceremony gone wrong is now devouring and killing the land. Demara is still hot on Mirella's trail, and the elder council has an excuse to get rid of Mirella based on the heart fever. Without allies Mirella would be lost, but even with them her situation is more than challenging. With Demara, alchemists, revenants, and the council working against her, there is no place safe. Her heart isn't safe either, though.
As the story goes on, it becomes more turbulent and dynamic. There is almost no break for Mirella to take a breath, reconnect with herself and her friends, and actually try to find solutions to her problems. Having Kane is an advantage, yet the relationship is new and as the Heart Maiden she is supposed to stay untouched.. not mentioning her heart isn't fully over Artan yet. There is a lot of drama and suspense, lots of action and violence. The conflict is escalating, body count piling. On the other side it is nice to see hope, positive changes coming, and Mirella embracing the culture and her identity as a tzigane. Looking forward to the next book.

I'd give it 4.5 stars but I thought it was good enough to be rounded up.

Just like the 4th book in the series - very gripping with lots of plot twists. But I might need to read something a little lighter and more positive once I'm done with the chronicles (not the best choice when trying to escape the lockdown blues and self doubt).

Few things not happy with: still lots of typos due to no proof reading; still don't understand what's the point of Ellie's character; the relationship issues at the end of the book is such a cliché it made me cringe hard. Otherwise - pretty good. Well done.

Oh Mirella...
I know the story is ongoing but I just want her to get a happy ending... instead she only ever seems to get more heartache...

Two months after the events of Soul Wander Mirella is preparing for a big spring festival at the enclave. A Heart Maiden’s job is never done of course. She is in a good place all things considered she is back with her friends and family and she has Kane. They are all still dealing with the losses from before but moving forward. Until things go wrong and the secrets about her sickness come to light. And since she’s Mirella she isn’t going to wait to be rescued no matter the odds she will rescue herself and the ones she loves. On the run with trouble around every corner and more enemies than friends she does manage to find a surprising new ally. But nothing ever goes smoothly or easily for Mirella and her trusting nature might just be the death of her.

I absolutely love and adore Mirella.... however what annoys me about her is that she is too trusting and far too often is she running off somewhere alone when she knows she shouldn’t. Maybe it’s the effect of being so independent so long and maybe she’s so trusting because before she was never allowed to get close to or trust people... I don’t know, but it is a problem she really ought to work on. It’s nice she wants to see the best in people and believe her people are all good people but when she is ignoring the glaringly obvious evidence right in front of her I feel like reaching in to shake her. But I still love her.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again I HATE Artan he is the WORST. Just when you think he’s done enough nope he tops himself. I was never too certain about Kizzy and for the first time she plays a bigger role in the story instead of just a background character. You can’t help but to feel for her engaged to such a terrible person. Sure he use to seem so great but was he ever really? Things changed when Mirella came into his life but I feel like his crazy was a preexisting condition he just hid from everybody. I guess love can make you do things you wouldn’t otherwise but he’s got issues. And he doesn’t I’m anyway ever redeem himself. I also still don’t like Ellie but not for any particular reason at this point she didn’t do anything in this book but I feel like she’s just taking up space.

And then there’s Kane... I like Kane I want things to work between him and Mirella they deserve to be happy. And I’m hoping that we aren’t blindly trusting him. He seems to be genuine but often enough nothing is as it seems. So far though he’s still good.

One last thing... Darcy and her council... so as not to spoil anything for anyone else I’ll just say I didn’t expect that and I would like to understand what’s going on with them more. Maybe she is just a crazy lady who sees Mirella’s position as a threat to her reign over the enclave or maybe there is something else? Obviously she’s never liked Mirella and not fit any real reason I mean sure she could see right from the start that she couldn’t control Mirella but over the course of the series she has only become increasingly terrible. However I still didn’t expect the lengths she would go to.

All in all another good book I’m still obsessed with Mirella and I want to know what’s going to happen next. Why is it that Kane’s presence counteracts her sickness? Is there a cure? Has anyone ever actually tried to cure it? Is she really going crazy? Sometimes it doesn’t seem like she is it actually seems like her hallucinations are visions of what’s to come. Unless I’m reading it wrong but I do remember her hallucinations that happened before the big fight on that doomed trip/trap to Cora’s enclave... I swear I remember it all happening. There were other moments but I could be wrong.

All that said I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because Mirella keeps making the same stupid mistakes over and over again... a personality flaw I suppose but you would think at some point she might learn, right? Here’s to hoping she will in the future.

In this 5th book the suspense is up. Mirella is once again forced to make choices, big choices with downsides on all of them. Captured, separated from her loved ones, tortured and attacked by her own people, but also reunited with a familymember. I'm so invested in the story, I can't wait what the next book brings and how the story continues.
