3 stars not because I don't like the book, but because I only really liked and related the parts of the book where 三毛 shared personal parts of her life growing up in Taiwan, how she was a misfit, how she's read to the point of near extremity, how she became home-schooled, and the adventures she's went on abroad in East Germany, Spain, France etc.
For a women growing up in her times, in her culture, 三毛is extremely brave to be able step outside of the box and pursue what she's truly passionate about- to be an artist, to be a writer, to be a philosopher. Her passion for reading, for the arts, and for chasing adventures simply seeps through the page and deeply touches the reader's heart. 三毛不在乎旁人的眼光,不追求世俗,只坚持做自己,追求自己的所爱,这也就是她最可爱之处。Her free spirit has inspired generations to come and is something that will definitely come to mind, whenever I shall hesitate about taking my next leap of faith in pursuing my passions and sought-after adventures.
