Rodney Dangerfield, born Jacob Cohen, was an American comedian and actor, best known for the catchphrase "I don't get no respect" and his monologues on that theme.
This isn't much of a book since it's only a 48-page collection of select Rodney Dangerfield jokes. However, there is some enjoyment to be had here if you like his sense of humor. As a big fan of the comedian, this acts as a great collector's item, too.
As this little booklet goes, on one page you will find one or two of his jokes, and on the other you will find an accompanying illustration of Rodney portraying said joke or generally just sweating nervously as he was wont to do. The jokes were all self-deprecating in nature, which I anyways find hilarious, and they were all very short so they didn't drag on or confuse with complex setups. His jokes have always been short and sweet with a knockout for a punchline, and here is no exception.
This booklet provides only a tiny fraction of the jokes in Rodney Dangerfield's repertoire, but those included here are great. One joke in particular was fantastic and goes like this:
"But I'll never forget one date I had. We ran into a guy she knew and she introduced me. She said, 'Steve, this is Rodney. Rodney, this is goodbye.'"
Truly, the guy was a comic legend!
With the advent of the internet, books like this are all but obsolete in this day and age, for if you wished to compile a list of Rodney's jokes, you can easily find far more online than you will get here. But if you are a fan of his, then this booklet will make a nice addition to your collection while providing you with a small set of some of Rodney Dangerfield's best jokes from back in the '70s. This was a cheap buy online, so I recommend it to hardcore fans only.
A fun little keepsake book for Dangerfield fans. The jokes are interspaced with amusing illustrations. If you're a fan, then you have already heard almost all the one-liners, as they are drawn directly from Dangerfield's stand-up routines. If you manage to track down this book, then you are likely a fan and are buying it because it's one of the handful of books featuring Dangerfield. Think of it as a small souvenir pamphlet that would make a nice stocking stuffer for a fan, but nothing more than that.
