At fifteen, I gave a classmate a black eye for calling her names.
At sixteen, she talked me through asking my crush to prom.
I helped her get over her first heartbreak at nineteen.
Two years later, she returned the favor.
It wasn’t until I was twenty-nine I realized I loved her.
And because I was too stupid to do anything about it,
at thirty, I lost her for good on a dare.
Darcy Patrick is tried of watching her best friend, Elliott Taber, date the wrong kind of woman. When his latest flavor of the month walks out on him, she dares him to let her find his next date.
Elliott agrees, but only after Darcy agrees to allow him to do the same.
The dare is on.
The dates take place on the same night. One is an epic fail. The other is just plain epic.
Elliott isn’t prepared for the onslaught of emotions hitting him as Darcy seemingly finds everything she ever wanted with the man he set her up with. He should be happy for her. He should leave her alone. But he can’t.
Even though she graduated with a degree in science, Tara knew she’d never be happy doing anything other than writing. Specifically, writing love stories.
She started with a racy BDSM story and found she was not quite prepared for the unforeseen impact it would have. Nonetheless, she continued and The Submissive Series novels would go on to be both New York Times and USA Today Bestsellers. One of those, THE MASTER, was a 2017 RITA finalist for Best Erotic Romance.
Now she is focusing on new contemporary romances that allow her the freedom to write and publish on her own schedule.
This book was very very short, and hence felt very very shallow and rushed to me. I actually preferred Darcy with Tate because I didn’t feel the supposed chemistry between her and Elliott at all.
They went from being best friends for twenty years to doing a complete 180 during the last two chapters and professing their undying love for each other? I just wasn’t buying it.
Received a free copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
I’m loving this new era of Tara Sue Me’s Rom-Com.
The Date Dare
is a sweet friends-to-lovers romance, with great characters, an interesting plot twist that will keep you stick to the book until the very end and, of course, a happily ever after.
In this story, Darcy and Elliot have been best friends forever, they knew and understood each other perfectly, but their relationship has always been platonic. Until one day Elliot saw something more in her. Something that called his heart. But he was afraid to lose her friend, so he never said a word, instead, he started dating several women like his life depended on it—
not at the same time obviously, he’s not a douche
—and Darcy thought his life needed an intervention. He needed to date a woman who was right for him, so she dares him to find the perfect match for him, so he said he’d do the same for her, even though he thought the only man perfect for her was himself. But finding the right person for each other was really difficult because they were perfect for each other, Elliot only had to convince Darcy about it, and I loved everything he did to prove that to her.
I really enjoyed this book. The writing is great, the building of the characters and the plot development are awesome. I was really intrigued about how Elliot would gain Darcy, especially because she was so clueless about him, but I love how this story wound up.
If you love drama free, friends to lovers romance, you’ll want to read The Date Dare
.
When I got an ARC for this book, I was beyond excited. I am a fan of Tara Sue Me and I am always happy to read one of her books. Unfortunately, this book was not for me and I had conveniently forgotten about it until the time to review it came. The blurb isn't some kind of prologue to Elliot and Darcy's story. Nooo, we get to meet the flavor of the month and see Darcy date another man, which left us with a tiny 40% to see Elliot and Darcy together. That's only 70 out of the 175 pages and honestly, it felt even less. Maybe they were less and that was the point where Elliot decided that doing the horizontal mambo with other women was not the way to get over Darcy and actually go for her. Which leads me to the first and major reason I couldn't stand the book. The book begins with Elliot, Darcy, and O2. O2 is the second flavor of the month, hence the 2. Darcy mentions that for the past year when she and Elliot were together (as friends of course) the current flavor of the month was with him. And isn't it great to have your friends eff buddy when you are hanging out? Isn't it even better when Elliot says that he only slept with these women because he was in love with Darcy and he couldn't have her? He wasn't just having them around as buffers, he was getting some Os too. That's some material for a swoon-worthy boyfriend, right?
And as if that wasn't enough, we also had Darcy and Tate who were in a relationship and Darcy wanted to sleep and have a future with him. Not Elliot, Tate. He was a good guy and had more relationship material on him than Elliot ever did. Darcy was like, I know Elliot is hot, but I don't want him in my bed, I want Tate. If this book was a full- length one, I might have felt differently. Unfortunately, now I feel like I wasted my time and energy on this book. The part where Elliot is going for Darcy and them ending up together eventually felt rushed and after a while, I skimmed it. I felt like there was nothing worth reading because I was more invested in Darcy with Tate, instead of her and her best friend. It's not like Darcy realized that she and Tate are not working out and that Elliot was the best man for her. Tate is the MVP of the book. I am so happy that he will get a story. This is not one of the books where the blurb can describe half the story. The epic dated needed to happen in the prologue and have the whole book developing the relationship between two people who were best friends and then became something more.
I realize some of the fault is on me since the blurb warns us about what is going on, but Elliot disgusted me with his flavors of the month. He didn't need to sleep with all these women between the time he realized he loved Darcy and the moment he went for her.
My thanks to NetGalley and Kobo Writing Life for an eARC copy of this to read and review.
I admit, I requested this book because the author's name is familiar to me. She is popular at our store in the section my boss and I call the "naughty" books. I was curious and also wanted to read a newer title of hers so I could speak with some knowledge about this author to those who read her or to those who read similar books. And that black and white cover is just GORGEOUS.
This was not what I expected. I DNF'd at 33%. I was bored and when I get bored, I read spoilers and I read spoilers for this book and the next one in the series and decided it wasn't for me personally. It didn't seem to be as "hot" as I would expect, knowing where her backlist is shelved, and the MC H was kind of a jerk in how he treated Tate. If you like the girl, TELL HER. Man UP and tell her, rather than boinking anything that will let you and setting her up with a friend and then snaking her from him when you can't stand seeing her happy with another guy.
While this wasn't for me, I admit I am VERY picky about the romance I read. It has to be the right book at the right time. If I read this a week earlier or later? Might have been my favorite book of all time. As it is? DNF for me, but glad I have read what I did of it so I can recommend to customers who will be more receptive to it than I am at this time.
2 stars, as I didn't enjoy it, but I didn't hate it and I won't hesitate to recommend to someone who is more into contemporary romance than I am.

"But I can't help think that there's something more. That marraige is something more. That love is something more. And nice is nothing but settling. And I don't want to settle. I want it all. I want a fairytale, happy ending, happily ever after, and the to be continued."
Relatively “Date to Dare” makes for a fast and quick read. It’s some 175 pages and took me only about two hours to finish reading it. November has been a very intense month for me reading wise so I suppose this book was kind of a welcome change even though I didn’t enjoy it as much as I would have liked to.
It’s quite clichéd story following the lives of two people Elliot and Darcy, who are best friends since they were little kids and understands each other like no other. Or do they? Because Elliot is secretly in love with Darcy for the past one year and she has no idea. She is just pissed at Elliot for dating the wrong sort of women. Anyhow, they end up daring to find the perfect partner for each other and while Darcy clicks instantly with guy Elliot sets her up with, Elliot’s date ends up in a disaster. He should be happy for his best friend but instead he is miserable. What will Elliot do? Will he act on his feelings? Or will he let go of Darcy?
So, cheesy, I know, right? I won’t deny the fact that this book was a good change of pace for me and some parts were kind of tolerable. However, there isn’t anything new in the story. It follows the same old trope of friends to lovers; the writing is average and the characters are not that great either. It’s a very short book so there isn’t any sort of emotional, angsty developments. Everything just fell flat for me and the story didn’t really give me any feels. Things just happens and everything falls into place quite easily. Also, Elliot and Darcy acts more like teenagers rather than grownups.
Overall, I guess you need to be in a particularly silly mood to read this book because this book is just that, puerile, pulpy and corny. NOT FOR ME!
Darcy and Elliot have been friends since childhood. Their feelings have been platonic for decades, but in a split second Elliot realizes his are more. However, he doesn’t want to risk losing Darcy’s friendship and friend-zones himself, but when a dating dare between them starts to get serious for Darcy, Elliott needs to man up. So how does he find the nerve to tell his best friend he’s in love with her without losing her? Elliott’s about to find out...
Told from a dual POV, Darcy and Elliott had enticing chemistry and a subtle heat I really enjoyed! Elliott’s hesitation and sometimes blundering tactics paired with Darcy’s cluelessness kept me entertained while rooting for Darcy to wake up and smell the coffee, hoping to spare Elliott a little despair. The dating dare itself was actually quite fun, if for no other reason then to light a fire under Elliott’s britches, yet his plan to win Darcy over was adorably sweet and very thoughtful.
I haven’t read Tara Sue Me and was pleasantly surprised by this cute and sexy read! The writing was smooth, the story had substance, and the characters had dimension. With a pinch of turmoil and a heaping handful of steamy chemistry, this was a romance I could savor!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book courtesy of Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Blurb: Who knew three words held such destructive power? No, not THOSE three words. I'm talking about the evil word trio that's my own personal kryptonite, that stole my best friend, and took away the only woman I've ever loved: I dare you.
I was six when Darcy Patrick moved next door. By the time we were eight, we were best friends.
At fifteen, I gave a classmate a black eye for calling her names. At sixteen, she talked me through asking my crush to prom.
I helped her get over her first heartbreak at nineteen. Two years later, she returned the favor.

As a self-proclaimed sucker for friends-to-lovers romances, I couldn't resist my curiosity with this title. The Date Dare was a light, quick, and fun romance to get lost in for a few hours. It's about two best friends who start to develop feelings for each other. Rather than own up to those feelings, a dare is proposed in which they set each other up with an ideal date. His date ends up in a series of calamities. Her date, perfection. He now is kicking himself for opening the door to his own heartbreak.
At first I thought this may end up being a super angsty love triangle. I was happy to read that it was more of an internal struggle of each character coming to terms with their true feelings for one another. I liked that it was told in dual POV as that added to the anticipation. The dialogue between them was endearing and sweet.
However I felt that the characters could have been given more dimension - either through secondary characters, additional scenes to further establish their relationship, or more description in the existing scenes (they felt too short for me). . For me, their characters seem too simple; flat.
This is the first time reading a book from this author. The story was left open-ended into a good segue into the anticipated second book of the series involving a character introduced in this book. I was left curious enough that I will put that book on my radar.
3.5 STARS
Thank you Netgalley for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review
I really enjoyed this book. I had read the author's previous BDSM books so this was a BIG change, but a great read. Darcy and Elliott have been best friends since they were 6 years old. Through every up and down they've stuck together as only best friends can. Until one day everything changes. Then a bet is made & friendships are tested. I enjoyed their banter and their genuine affection for each other. It was a really fun read.
This was a cute friends to lovers story. Loved the characters and the plot. Lots of laughs as these two figure out what they really want and if they are brave enough to go for it.
Awww, omg. This was a fun read, it definitely hooked me from the start!
Darcy and Elliot have been friends since they were 7. Their feelings have been platonic for so long but in a split second Elliot realizes his are more. But of course, he doesn’t want to risk losing Darcy’s.
One thing I really didn't like was that title gives the book away, soo it was predictable at times. So, one day they're hanging out with one of Elliot's 'girlfriends', and Darcy basically tells Elliot, 'wtf are you doing? You're totally dating the wrong type of girls.' So she dares him, that Shea's going to find someone suitable for him to date, and well, he gets to do the same for her. The dating dare between them starts to get serious for Darcy, Elliott needs to man up. So how does he find the nerve to tell his best friend he’s in love with her without losing her? Well, you'll have to find out...
Even though it was predictable, it was romantic, and I really did enjoy reading it. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author. I recommend it!
Why are the things we find most important in life, what we take for granted the most? Darcy and Elliott are about to learn the high price of letting go. The Date Dare is another Tara Sue Me gem. This feel good tale is a heartbreaker with an irresistible couple. Elliott and Darcy have always counted on each other to get them through the big stuff. Their friendship has helped them endure heartache, humiliation and so many other milestones in their lives. When their longstanding bond experiences it's first major growing pain, their relationship will never be the same. The Date Dare hits the heart from all sides. From funny bone to broken heart, Elliott and Darcy are a unforgettable breath of fresh air.
"There is no need for me to look for my soul mate. I know who she is."
This feel-good, sexy and sweet rom-com is just what I needed. Read in one sitting, I am always engrossed in Tara's words. The Date Dare is no exception. From page one, I was pulled in and kept turning pages until there were none left...and the happy surprise of another book? Yes, please!
Elliott and Darcy are cute and fun, a perfect combination of sweet and sexy. I look forward to more of these stories from Tara!
i didn’t even finish the book. i got to all but 50 pages and just couldn’t do it. the idea of the book isn’t very original and there wasn’t much detail! the best part of the book was quotes at the beginning of each chapter.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. This was a very sweet and cute romantic read that I thoroughly enjoyed. I wish there would've been a little more to the ending like an extended epilogue.
Una historia sencilla, ligera, facil, sin dramas. Algo que agradeci despues de empezar y abandonar 3 libros que ni tan siquiera me molesto en reseñarlos como DNF
This was my first read by Tara and it was a sweet, fun, romantic friends to lovers story. This is a quick read and if this is your trope you will definitely enjoy this one.
Elliot and Darcy has been best friends for more than 20 years. They have been each others support and confort for so long and there’s no way they can be without been part of each others life. They want to make each other happy and help each other find THE ONE because that’s what best friends do right? What they do? Make a bet to see who can find the other perfect match. What Elliot wasn’t counting on was that Darcy will actually find his choice to be as perfect as he thought and it’s in risk to lose the woman he finally accepted he love more than anything and can’t live without. Imagine all the fun and plotting this two will do.
So yes fun and sexy with The Date Dare was a great way to start my reading week. Thanks to Netgalley for providing an advance copy of this book.
Okay, so I’m not going to lie. This genre of book goes against everything I don’t really like with romance. I’m not a rom-com fan, I like my dark, twisted, kinky, intense reads. Like Tara’s earlier work, The Submissive series.
But the fact is I love Tara’s books, the style, and the way she can capture your mind and run wild with a plot that’ll have you on the edge of your seat all the way through. So when I saw it was in fact a Tara Sue Me book, I grabbed it, one-clicked without even reading the blurb, and you know what? I’m so glad I did! I had fun with this book, it was light yet, not to light, it was funny as hell, still pretty hot and just an easy flowing read and I think it was something I needed between reading these darker sides to romance.
This book is a friends-to-lovers romance, about two best friends Darcy and Elliot, that were just that, best friends, nothing more, nothing less. But something changed for Elliot and he begun to see another side to Darcy, a side that had him wanting her in ways he never expected. But of course, he didn’t act on it. The last thing he wanted to do was risk their friendship. So through a period of time, he started to date different women here and there, trying with everything he could do remove these feeling for her from his mind.
Darcy noticed his serial dating and pulled him up on it, telling him he needed to find a decent girl he could finally settle down with. Which ended up turning into a dare, a game to her but he was willing to play it. He dared her to find the same thing, to find the perfect guy for herself, even though he knew he was that guy. It wasn’t as easy as it sounded, they were meant to be together, they were the perfect match so trying to find another perfect match when the real one is standing right in front of you? It’s impossible. It was Elliot’s mission to prove to Darcy that he was the one, he was her happily ever after, and her his.
This was cute, and I loved everything About Elliot, the way he was with Darcy, the things he did to try and prove to her that he was the one for her.
I absolutely loved this book and it’s taken me by surprise. Extremely well written, I wouldn’t expect anything less from Tara, the characters developed throughout the story perfectly and she made it a fun and enjoyable read.
Darcy and Elliott have been best friends since kindergarten. He has helped her get over a broken heart and she has watched him date many women. It all changes for Elliott at a charity ball when he realizes that he has never been in a relationship because he's in love with Darcy. But he's scared to tell her in case it doesn't work out and then he will lose his best friend. Darcy is clueless to Elliott's feelings for her and so she dares him that she since she knows him best, she will find him the perfect date. He can't let it go at that, so he declares that he will find her the perfect date. Elliott's date ends up being a bust, but Darcy may have found the man of her dreams.
This is a cute romance that made me laugh out loud ... Elliott's date was priceless! The banter between Darcy and Elliott is so realistic, that I can just imagine those silly conversations happening. This is my first book by Ms. Me and I was pleasantly surprised because the characters had substance and the storyline was cute but still had lots of steam. But what was up with Tate? I guess we'll find out in the next book.

I loved seeing this fun and flirty side from Ms. Sue Me. Darcy and Elliott have been best friends forever…but Elliott is hiding something from her. He’s in love with Darcy and doesn’t know how to tell her. So of course the logical thing would be to agree to set the other up on a date. What could go wrong??!! This was a quick, light and sweet read and I can’t wait for the next book. I’m dying to know HOW those two get together.
Who knew three words held such destructive power? No, not THOSE three words. I'm talking about the evil word trio that's my own personal kryptonite, that stole my best friend, and took away the only woman I've ever loved: I dare you.

REVIEW: 3.75 stars-- THE DATE DARE is the first instalment in Tara Sue Me’s contemporary, adult , romance series. This is thirty year old, trainer for the Georgia Storm professional lacrosse team Elliott Taber, and Darcy Patrick’s story line.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Elliott and Darcy) THE DATE DARE follows the friends to lovers relationship between thirty year old, trainer for the Georgia Storm professional lacrosse team Elliott Taber, and Darcy Patrick. Best friends since the age of five, Elliott and Darcy have done everything together except fall in love but fall in love Elliott did, and desperate to prove there may be someone else, Elliott dares Darcy to find each other a date, not expecting Darcy to fall for another man. As Darcy begins to ‘date’ the man with whom Elliott sets her up, Elliott battles between head and heart as he and Darcy grow further apart. What ensues are the back and forth dating experiences of Darcy and Elliott, and the potential fall-out as Elliott struggles to let Darcy know, she is the one.
We are introduced to former professional baseball player Tate Maddox, actress Kara Devine, and Elliott’s sister Carsen Taber. While Tate and Darcy continue to build their relationship, nothing goes according to plans for Elliott Taber. Carsen and Tate’s story line is next in The Date Deal.
The relationship between Elliott and Darcy is a best friends to lovers romance wherein Darcy is oblivious to Elliott’s attraction, and Elliott struggles to tell Darcy the truth. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate.
THE DATE DARE is a cute but predictable story; a sweet, sexy and sassy tale where love is but a friendship away. The premise is spirited; the romance is flirty ; the characters are colorful ,energetic and fun.
Elliott and Darcy Had been best friends since Kindergarten so Darcy felt no one knew Elliott as well as she did. But she can’t figure out why he dates the women he does. Darcy will admit Elliott is a hot guy and she has fantasized about him but she would never exchange that for their friendship. Her parents had divorced when Darcy was eleven , Darcy’s dad had died five years ago. Only Elliott had been her steady support through it all. Elliott works with athletes and Darcy worked in the hotel industry. Usually Darcy wasn’t in her home city two weeks out of the month but right now she was staying in Atlanta for an extended time and Elliott would be also as the Storm’s season had just ended. They didn’t have to hide anything from each other but Elliott was. He realized last year at the Charity ball he was in love with Darcy and had not revealed his feelings toward her in any way. Darcy did not let Elliott know how attracted she was to him and fantasized about him. Elliott is meeting Darcy at a restaurant and Darcy realizes this the first time in almost a year Elliott comes without a date. Then Darcy thinks she had the answer Elliott had been dating all the wrong type of women. Elliott already knew this as the woman he wanted to be with was Darcy but he didn’t have the nerve to tell her. Then Darcy decides she wants to set Elliott with a date and he agrees as long as he can do the same for her. Elliott figures he shouldn’t set Darcy up with an egotistical athlete - he couldn’t do that to hard. Then he comes up with Tate Maddox had five great years in baseball then he left professional sports behind him completely. Tate claimed he didn’t like what fame was making him into and he said he didn’t need more money. Tate now runs a sports camp up in the mountains for underprivileged kids. It was probably the most painful thing Elliott had ever done but he calls and talks to Tate and tells him to call Darcy. A week later Darcy calls with the name and number of the woman for Elliott’s date -Kara Devine. Kara was a local actress who was doing some marketing for the hotel chain. Kara’s and Elliott's date was a disaster but Darcy really enjoyed her date with Tate. Tate is a great person. As Tate and Darcy see each other Darcy senses something isn’t quite right with her being with Tate. Elliott is kicking himself in the butt as he loves Darcy and he has [probably lost her to Tate. I loved this romance and it really was so sweet. I loved Darcy and Elliott together and how they interacted with each other. I was a little surprised Darcy hadn’t figured out her feelings for Elliott sooner but she didn’t want to lose him either so… This was a predictable romance and yet it didn’t take away from the romance as far as i am concerned. I loved how everyone bit Darcy sees how Elliott really feels about her. This was a quick easy romantic read that I read in one setting. I happily found nothing to criticize in this book. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend it.

I really enjoyed this book and it kept me engrossed throughout. I really loved the characters and the way they interacted with each other. This is a fun, hot, romantic must read book and I would definitely recommend this book to This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

Review, spoilers!!!: I liked this book, it was a sweat read. I thought the book would finish a bit sooner. The H was to chicken to talk about his feelings with his bestie (with whom he was in love). Afraid of losing their friendship. I mean I get it, but why dare to set each other up, when you both want to be together. Why torture yourself with the knowledge the one you love is dating another person. I`m sorry for Tate, but I understand that his book is next.
What I liked: This is a new to me author, I`m always a bit careful then. I liked the book, it`s sweet. Elliott`s date with Kara was funny, poor girl.
What I didn`t like: If they would have talked sooner, they would be together sooner. But we wouldn`t have a book then.

Up until a year ago Elliot only had best friend feelings for Darcy. Then all of a sudden he realized he loved her. To make up for the fact he couldn’t just come right out and blurt “I love You” he decided to only date fillers. He also never wants to be alone with Darcy so he doesn’t all of sudden ruin the best thing he has ever had.
Darcy has watched over and over again Elliot go through women. None of them ever stay with him long. So much so she has made nicknames for the girls. Elliot has been the one constant in her life who hasn’t left and she wants nothing more than to keep him in her life, even if it means he will only ever be a friend
Elliot and Darcy decide to make a deal. They decide to find people for each other to date. Elliot agrees to find a man worthy of dating Darcy and settle on Tate Maddox. Darcy struggles to find someone worthy to date her BFF, when she finds a client who would suit.
Does Elliot ever get the balls to tell Darcy that he loves her? Or will Tate show Darcy what being in love is like? Will Darcy be able to get over her fear of falling for her best friend or settle for someone more safe?
This was my first book by the author and I throughly enjoyed it. There was slow buildup of romance which I liked as well. This was a friends to lovers short read. I absolutely loved how every chapter started out with a quote about romance. A lot of them ring tru and of course I saved a few . I would recommend this book as it was a 3.5 to 4 star read for me.
As best friends for years- you know when they've picked the wrong love interest. So Elliot daring Darcy into a date with Tate turns out to be the best match he could make for her, well except him of course. But she doesn't know that and he's not sure he can tell her.
But as Tate and Darcy get closer though not too close Elliot realizes he needs to put his name in the race.
Imagine what you can do with the right dare.
I have got to admit this was the kind of movie I devour- oh sorry book. No seriously, this book is great and I can totally picture it as a great rom com movie. Use one of the Chris's (Pine, Hemsworth or Evans) or Scott Eastwood as Elliot and Emma Watson as Darcy. Hayden Panettiere as Carsen (the little sister) and either Justin Hartley or Trevor Donavon as Tate.
This book was a great page turner. Whether to go with someone who is great, safe and sweet or take a leap of faith and change a relationship that was safe to passionate.
There is a low amount of drama, it's got some steaminess and is simply beautiful, discovering who really holds your heart and how to go after your happily ever after. It's my favorite troupe too- best friends.
Tate is wonderful so knowing his and Carsen's story comes out in the new year is amazing. Once I realized where this story was going I knew he had to have a HEA. Him and Darcy belong in the friend zone- there's just not enough leap of faith for me to have stood behind their happiness. It's just too bad Tate got too involved- but his story he'll be given so much more I am sure.
This was my first read from this author and it won't be my last. Loved this story.
Darcy Patrick and Elliott Taber, two delightful people have been best friends for over twenty years and in that time have supported and helped each other with the many joys and tribulations of school life and growing up.
Now grown-up Darcy and Elliott dare each to find a suitable date for each other, after their individual attempts have been unsuccessful. The date Elliott gets is an epic failure from start to finish. The woman turns an hour and a half later and the sport event tickets are fake. But Darcy gets to date Tate (Tommy) Maddox a man who fits her dream as her ideal man. He turns out to an ex football player, who currently feeds the homeless and runs a sports camp for underprivileged kids in the mountains. He is handsome, kind, considerate and has rules about where he will be intimate.
Elliott is keen to keep Darcy's friendship but begin to see her as a woman after they kiss for the first time. So when Tate tells him that he is going to ask Darcy to move in with him, Elliott suddenly realises that he will lose her forever if he remains passive.
Elliott is thus forced to issue one last dare involving him and Darcy, both together. But how will the love triangle of Elliott, Darcy and Tate work out? Well I'm not going to tell you. You will have to find out for yourself.
I have read all of Tara Sue Me dominant/submissive books and I know you will like this charming and gentle book. Its a pleasant change from her others.
The Date Dare is very much a friends to lovers romance… one that almost slipped past Elliot when he made one fatal dare, and picked the perfect guy for the woman he’s been friends with since childhood, and wants her for his own. Too bad that years of friendship is giving him second and third thoughts. Too bad that this guy is absolutely perfect for Darcy. Too bad for the love he feels for his best friend… unless he steps up and does something drastic about it.
Darcy and Elliot’s story is a quick read. There are no bad guys here, no drama aside from Elliot’s constant dares that backfire on him. I enjoyed their romance, but the actual romance between Darcy and Elliot takes a while to be realized. First we have to get past the perfect guy who really isn’t perfect for Darcy, and get Elliot to dive in and go after the woman he loves. To be frank, I had some issues with Elliot, but I’ll let you make up your own mind about our hero. In all it’s a good story, and I’m certainly looking forward to a sequel with another happy ending… for that not so perfect for Darcy guy.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
