Can this series get anymore awesome?
Apparently it can!!
Now that Amel has discovered the true power of the pipe, she is now the leader of the dragons, much to Jalla's jealousy.
But Amel will have to face the Dusk Covenant in the war for the Dominion city, her home. She must fight to protect it.
But what she will face, is her worse enemy and nightmare to ever exits, the Ifrits.
Powerful creatures that come from the earth. No one knows how they appear but they're deadly and have been a problem since book 1
Will Amel and her new allies be able to defeat them?
So sad that this series is coming to an end, but all good things must end one day. But until then I'll enjoy every book of this series!

I’ve been addicted to the Dragon School series since I jumped into the first book and am super eager to see how everything comes together. If I’m being completely honest, though, I have not enjoyed the last few books to the same degree as I enjoyed the earlier books. I’m still super eager to see how everything comes together, yet I’m not as wowed as I was initially. Despite this, I continue to hope that the next book will return to being a wow book. Unfortunately, for me, Dragon School: Dust of Death wasn’t a return to the initial wow level.
Dragon School: First Flight, book one, sucked me completely into the world – it was so much more than I’d expected, and I couldn’t wait to get more. Dragon School: Initiate, book two, sucked me in even deeper – it showed me there was more to the story than I’d originally thought, ensuring I would pick up the next. Dragon School: The Dark Prince, book three, was a very important book in the series – it may not have been my favourite book, but it was vital to the overall story. Dragon School: The Ruby Isles, book four, continues to move things forward in a wonderful way – it may not be my favourite of the stories, but it is another important addition. Dragon School: Sword, book five, was another brilliant read, adding more to the series – it was also the book that reminded me why I was following the series in the first place, pulling me back in after a short hiatus.
Dragon School: Dusk Covenant, book six, added plenty of new twists – more than enough to ensure I remained ensnared with the story. Dragon School: First Message, book seven, brought even more to the table – more was added to the storyline, plenty of things leaving me curious as to what would come next. Dragon School: Warring Promises, book eight, left on a serious cliff-hanger – all the books leave on a cliff-hanger, but this was probably the biggest of them all. Dragon School: Prince of Dragons, book nine, was one of my least favourites in the series, but it continued to move things forward for us.
Dragon School: Dark Night, book ten, was one of my favourites in the series, increasing the level of intensity and leaving us with so many expectations. Dragon School: Bright Hopes, book eleven, was a pivotal book in the series, giving us so many new twists and making so many promises for the future. Dragon School: Mark of Loyalty, book twelve, blew all the prior books out of the water, earning it the label as my favourite in the series. Dragon School: Dire Quests, book thirteen, didn’t quite live up to the potential, but I did give it a rounded up three-point-five-star rating. Dragon School: Ancient Allies, book fourteen, was another rounded up rating. Dragon School: Pipe of Wings, book fifteen, was my least favourite, one I was unable to round up despite my desire to do so. Dragon School: Dragon Piper, book sixteen, came close to being rounded up, but I couldn’t quite bring myself to do so.
With Dragon School: Dust of Death, I feel as though not much happened. There was one interesting piece of information (something that will be vital in the coming books) and things ended in such a place that I expect book eighteen to hook me, but for the most part I do not feel as though this one moved the story forward that much. When compared to the other books in the series, this book did a single thing compared to the many things that have been happening in the other books. If I’m being completely honest, I would label Dragon School: Dust of Death one of my least favourite books in the series. It’s worth it to understand everything, but it is not a favourite.
Nevertheless, I have high hopes for how this series will conclude in the coming books.

The series is so clearly drawing to an end (still 3 episodes to go) and it's clear. Stakes are getting higher, character arcs are coming to their culminations and the tension is rising. Amel's arc is one that I will never stop loving and this book is no exception on that arc. She is growing into her full possibilities, not the small, insecure girls she was at the beginning of the series. She's not cured of her disabilities, but discovered she is more than just that and no matter if others try to see her that way, she's not having it anymore and I love that.

We are working things out and finally getting a few good ideas about why things are happening, but we need so much more. Hopefully this leads to a good final plan! As always, I’m still unsure about Jalla. She’s a bit crazy. Amel does a pretty crazy thing too though. One Raolcan was very fearful of. I can’t wait to read the next book! That ending was pretty abrupt! This was another fast and quick read that was pretty heavy with non-stop action. On to the next!

This book is def not as strong as the last books. There is a lot of worrying and politics concerning Baojang. Especially, since Amel has figured out the reason Jalla and Baojang are so determined to conquer the dominion - they want the dragons that roam the skies of the Dominion. Ofc, if this were to happen it would break and go against the alliegnece the Dominion and the wild dragons created in the first place - each side would sacrifice their freedom to keep peace and stability in the lands. And as has been strongly shown throughout this series, this is very wrong as the dragons are not and have never been slaves. They are intelligent and sentient creatures that deserve the upmost respect.
Now, I didn't really like this book nearly as much as the others due to the potrayal of Bajong. Thanks to Rakturan I have really come to like his culture and traditions, no matter how wrong and strange they may seem to Amel. It's just that I am tired of different cultures being demonized for being different. And sure, this does not mean that aspects of Bajong are not problematic like slavery and all it entails and their wish to take the Dominion; still it's not like the Dominion or any other culture, fantasy or real are perfect either. Just, as a poc, it sort of rubbed me the wrong way.
And this is another thing. I'm also getting tired of Rakturan's motives and loyalties being potrayed as sketchy and constantly questionable. Since the beginning I did like him and could see he wasn't necessarily a bad character. So, having him in between loyalties to Sevette, the Dominion and his people and Baojang is just a little annoying; ofc it does carry some level of realness to it since people and the situations they find themselves in are not clear cut.
As for the plot of the book itself. Amel and everyone else enter the warrens where they find an Ifrit floating motionless above. Suddenly an all out battle commences as many Baojang soldiers are lost. It was all a trap as from the dust of the dirt they walk on, and blood spilling into the ground from those lives lost; an army of Ifrtis rise. However, everyone manages to make it through the portal and into another battle in Leedres city. There a confrontation with the false Domimar commences. Jalla, having been captured; Amel decides to take her place. Luckily, Rakturan and the Baojang army manage to arrive in time to swarm the place. Leng frees Amel from her bindings. Jalla informs Amel that Rakturan has gone after the false Dominar and magickas who have escaped. Amel though, puts her foot down and claims she was willimg to trade her life for Jalla's, thus, she is no longer a slave. With a sudden hug, Jalla declares Amel her blood sister. And so this is how the book ends.
So, overall, an okay book. Def one of my least favorite ones in the series. I really hope the next book picks up after this one, considering we are so close to the end! Still, I look forward to see how this crazy adventure will end.

Sarah K. L. Wilson’s Dragon School is an astoundingly consistent amazing experience. And that’s no less true with its 17th book, Dust of Death. This wonderful story, which can definitely be read stand-alone (though with a series this fantastic you’re best off starting at book 1), grabs you at page 1 and holds on tight till the very end of its exciting thriller of a reading pleasure rollercoaster. Battles are to be fought and questions to be answered as readers are once more reunited with the fantastic Amel. I loved Anne McCaffrey's Pern takes and this series grabs me the same way. I only truly enjoyed Christopher Paolini's Eragon tales, the other series the publisher compares this series to, but (and it surprised me too), this series is definitely better. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next, 18th (astounding) book in this series.

Dust Of Death is the latest episode in the brilliant Dragon School Series. Amel and Raolcan face increasing, uncertain dangers in their fight to save the Dominion. This time their choices are based more on instinct and necessity rather than on the ancient prophecies. Slowly getting the answers they need leads them towards further problems. This series is getting increasingly tense as it gears up for the dramatic climax that is sure to follow in the final few books of this amazing series. I am hooked from start to finish. The writing is wonderful and the characters have a depth and honesty that draws you in so you really care about them and the dragons .. the magnificent, brave, noble dragons. I cannot recommend this book, or series, highly enough. Just do not start with this book .. you need to read the series or it will be too confusing.

This episode made me a bit mad. Amel not figuring out what the other nations want from the Dominion? What they have and the others don't? I guess every reader following the story knows before her. And her sacrifice in the end? I don't know, it didn't feel right, maybe it was a bit rushed, I missed her inner turmoil and her faith in the prophecies. Anyway, only 3 more books and I can't really see how it will end. Still so many fires are burning, so many battles running and so many wrong people in the game.... I pray it won't be a rush and "unrealistic" to tie it all up.

In this, my twentieth read from author Sarah K.L. Wilson & the seventeenth in the Dragon School series, I've run out of superlatives to describe her writing. This is another amazing read in The Dragon School series! It's all coming to a head & I can't wait for book 18 to come out, although when completed I can see this being republished as an epic with each book being a chapter. What other blurbs can I use to describe these books? Oh well, buy the book, read the books, get into a good author and some good characters as I have. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

I absolutely adore this series. I just wish I had the strength of character that Amel and Raolcan have. Physically and emotionally damaged, they continue to fight with every ounce of their fiber to try and save the Dominion. In an all out effort to reach Savette in time, Amel, Raolcan, Hubric and Kyrowat lead the army of Baojang along with the free dragons on a dangerous trip back through the warrens. Of course, nothing goes as hoped...

Thanks to this author, we will never run out of dragon stories. In this book, Amel and Raolcan continue the fight against the Covenant with an ally, or are they? The books in this series just get better and better. An intriguing storyline with lots of action. It grabs your attention from the first page with incredible characters on a larger than life journey. Heartpounding and thrilling. This is a great series about dragons and their riders. "You don't want to miss out"!

Dragon School: Dust of Death is Book 17 and another fast paced story. With the destruction of a city behind her and the guilt still fresh in her mind, Amel has to face one of her greatest fears ahead, but Raolcan will be by her side. She ponders on what it is that everyone wants from the Dominion while leading the dragons toward another battle. And, she makes the toughest decision of her life while Raolcan vehemently objects. This episode has my favorite scene with Leng in it!

Oh my goodness!
I started out reading this series of mini-books (as opposed to a mini-series?) way back when it was first released. Oh my goodness! I'm so thrilled with it! I've had no sleep, it's 6AM and I'm about to dive in and read another installment. Truly, Dragon School is in my top ten favorites, as is the author. Thanks & keep up the good work. I'm glad Amel figured out the bags of dust & the motivation of her enemies. Now, how will she stop them?

Amel just can not seem to get a break, but this just shows how strong she is. Of course this time there is drama not of her own making and she has to figure out how to get out of the situation with the help of Raolcan. I can not wait to see what is in store for Amel in the next book. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

OMG so much going on this time. Ephretti has work to do with the help of Dax. Lenora runs into Amel and heads off to help as well. Tor is still determined to become a Dragon Rider as well. Jalla still makes me so crazy, and I am not sure being her blood sister is in Amel's best interest. Can't wait for 18, but also sad to know the ending is coming.

In this book Amel, Hubric and the armies of Baojang make the arduous journey through the dragon warrens from the remains of Vanika City to Leedris City. Amel and Raolcan work out how the Magikas are raising the Ifrits, but now have to work out how to stop them. When they arrive at Leedris City they find themselves in an untenable position, with a sacrifice being the only solution.

Unbelievably amazing episode
This is my second dragon series. I am hard pressed to rate either one as the best. Tho this series is shorter in each episode, it is just as exciting and mysterious to try and figure the outcome I'll be sorry for the end , I love the character's and will miss them.

This one was a bit slow for me and I was surprised given what Amel sacrifices in one part. I thought there should have been more build up/suspense with that part. Nothing other than that really stuck out for this book. It was just a continuation of the story.

I love this series
After Amel and Raolcan lead jala's army through the warren they encounter ifrit's and amel makes a decision that removes her slave status but makes her relationship with jala even more confusing now the war rages on and the end nears. Can't wait to read the last three books I'm waiting with baited breath

Another thrilling chapter in this heart pounding, action packed, emotionally thrilling adventure.... The fight for truth continues and while some mysteries are answered, others are just now coming to light... really enjoyed this read.

I was intrigued by story-line, characters and dragon antics. Sarah writes a wonderful fantasy with dragons and gives her characters so much development, they feel like real people. Love the main character and how she over comes her handicap to strive and win.

This series continues to have ups and downs. Several times, the characters are insane and make random decisions that MAKE NO SENSE. It is quite infuriating but I am invested in the overall story so I will continue.

Amel has to be the leader and get everyone closer to the Dominion to help the war. Will she be able to do it in time. This is all leading up to the biggest confrontation in the story.
