This was a fairly typical bodyguard shifter romance. For me, the writing felt a little stilted at times and didn't flow as well as I usually enjoy. I loved how vulnerable and open Red was and how strong and not stupid Kate was. Overall, this was an enjoyable but forgettable story.

As we neared the ending of the Return to Bear Creek series we began to hear characters mention the possibility of opening a protection based business in Bear Creek… this series is about the men and woman who put their lives on the line for their clients – and most likely their fated mates as well.
As we begin the Bear Creek Protectors series we are introduced to Red, ex-military and a friend of some familiar faces (remember, several characters from the earlier books in the Return to Bear Creek were military). Red has recently lost his mother and after leaving the military as well he’s at loose ends dealing with his grief, yet knowing he has to start making plans for his civilian life. He simply never expected to meet his mate as he attempted to save her from a stalker in the park.
Kate has been an actress since she was a young child, she has the success and the fame but not the freedom to do as she wishes. Now she’s landed a great part in a popular movie’s sequel, and this will be her last performance in front of the cameras. Oh, she still has to tell her rather controlling mother, but Kate is firm on this – she’s done and ready for a new career of her own choosing. An innocent walk in the park turns deadly when she realizes that someone is following her. She makes her escape while being aware that another presence is in the park… friend or foe, she’s not certain. And it doesn’t help her suspicions when her so called rescuer appears right after the stalker seems to have run off. Is Red for real or is he the one that’s endangering her… time and trust – and maybe a bear’s instinct about his fated mate will tell in the end.
Bodyguard Bear is a fun story, a mystery to solve and the discovery of shifters for Kate. We have several suspects early on in this one, and although I had my culprit picked out I still wasn’t certain of my choice until the ending. Kate and Red are sizzling hot together, and while Kate may not be a shifter she certainly has no doubts that Red is the man or the bear for her.
I had a blast with this new Bear Creek series, it’s going to be a fun ride. We’ll meet several members of this new protection business, run into some old familiar faces as well. I always love getting a glimpse of where previous couples are today in their lives. I had fun with this one, and if you love Shifter Romance then you’ll want to get in on the beginning of Harmony Raines’ newest series.

I really enjoyed this book. I liked the connection between Kate and Red. Fate sure knows what it was doing pairing these two at the time when Kate needs protecting and who better to protect her than her ex-army turned bodyguard Bear shifter mate Red. Kate is doing her first big budget movie Space Monkeys 4 with Carter Eden and after a day of filming she’s invited out to dinner with Carter, Caroline and Jamie and Dani but she declines and goes for a walk in the park to get some fresh air and realises she’s being followed. Red came to town for a job interview with his old army buddies Jamie and Caroline and they offered him a job at Bear Creek Security that they’ve recently set up with the help of a few others. Red says he’ll take it then goes and gets some fresh air and while in the park he scents his mate, being followed by someone else but then she starts hastily walking away so he knows that they are together and that someone is following her so he goes to help her. Kate is thankful that Red helped her but then is also suspicious until she finds out that he’s ex-army and that the job offer came from Jamie who she’s met before. I can’t believe Kate’s mum Marilyn hired a bird shifter PI to spy on Kate as she thought Kate was secretly seeing someone as she was distant and Marilyn thought Kate was lying about it but really she just didn’t know how to tell her mum about quitting acting since she didnt know how she’d react. Man, Marilyn is definitely a stage mum to the extreme. I’m glad she finally listened to what Kate was saying and that she doesn’t want to act anymore as acting was never her dream, even though she’s enjoyed it but she wants to become a screenwriter. I thought that Kate took finding out about shifters and fated mates very well. You, can definitely tell how much Red loved and cared about his mum and that he misses her so much after losing her to cancer. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I’d recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.

Great new direction and characters from this author.
A new spin off series that once again gave me a pleasurable few hours of reading and lots of new characters to get to know.
This time we meet Red, a friend and fellow ex-service man off some of our well know Return to Bear Creek book residents whom we have already met.
He is also a resident of Bear Creek but has been in the services and only came home due to his mother’s ill health. He is still grieving after having lost her recently but has agreed to start working for Bear Creek Protectors as a bodyguard.
Entering into the world of Bear Creek is another new face which is Kate, an actress, who is working on Space Monkeys 4 with our town star and honey beer maker Carter.
Kate has a difficult relationship with her manager mother and is planning to change her life’s direction
Kate and Red meet when she gets spooked in the park. Red knows she is his mate but Kate is rightly suspicious at first.
When it turns out Kate has a stalker, Red steps up to protect his mate.
This book gives us a great well-paced story with quite a few factors and hiccups being thrown our way.
Ms Raines throws a couple of red herrings at us and I will be truthful and say I couldn’t be sure who the baddie was till nearly at the end which I loved.
I have a feeling Kates mother Lyn may get her own HEA if I know Ms Raines and her penchant for spreading the love around, even amongst the older more mature characters.
This is my honest review of this book.

Mystery and love...what more could you ask for
Kate is the main female lead in "Space Monkeys Four", one of Carter Eden's sequel movies. She goes for a walk after having a confrontation with her mother only to be stalked by someone in the park.
Red was in the army with Caroline and Jamie. When he hears that they are starting up a bodyguard company he goes to talk to them about a job. Afterwards, he goes for a walk in the park. He catches the scent of his mate and then realizes that she has a stalker, so he saves her.
Kate is suspicious of Red at first but when she finds out that he is a friend of Carter's and a bodyguard, she asks for help.
There are at least five different suspects throughout the story. It keeps you guessing about who and why until the very end. I love a good "who-done-it" with a true mate/love happy ever after. Very nice beginning to a spinoff series involving the Bear Creek shifters!

DNF at 20% when Kate is sitting down to eat with everyone and explaining about her mysterious stalker.
There wasn't anything particularly wrong with the plot so far, but I was incredibly bored by all the telling not showing and the huge cast of characters I was not familiar with. This is the first book I read by the author, and I could guess that this was a spin-off series based on the lack of exposition on the huge group of friends introduced in just a few chapters.
The dialogue was pretty uninspiring, and it was a struggle for me to get invested in the characters and their troubles with all the tedious internal monologue and explanations for every action they did - why they decided to pick up a napkin, why they decided to cover their face with their hand, etc. I didn't think I would enjoy trying to read the rest of a pretty standard and predictable modern romance plot.
While I do love shifter books, I'm passing on this one.

Great shifter romance with a mystery!
I enjoyed this story and look forward to many more in this series. It was nice to see some characters from previous stories in here. The pace is fast, the tone is upbeat and a little mysterious, the storyline is character oriented with some action and steamy scenes, and the characters are vivid.
You don't have to read the previous series, but you may want to. Start with the box set of Bear Creek and Bear Bluff, then read Return to Bear Bluff and Return to Bear Creek. Along the way, you can read the Who's the Daddy series, Silverbacks and Second Chances, the Wolf Valley Raiders as well as Biker Bears series. Many are available in box sets to allow you to get them and read them in order easily. Enjoy!

Looking for a who did it mystery, with shifter & after mate to top it off, this is your story!
Kate an actress hitting the big screens but with the fame comes the loss of independence, freedom, stalkers.....the cost of fame. Red shifter on his way to a new career as a solitary man a new start. He meets his team in the way and a chance encounter. Kate finds a stalker on her take she thinks she can handle until another twist. Lots of twist n turns to keep you guess on who behind the drama. This is a great book for mother daughter drama , seeing both sides of the coin may help some for "good for thought" and help heal. High my to loose. Violence 1, sex2

Kate and red
Book one in a new series but warning you do need to read the other series first because you will get carter and Caroline and James and dani's story they are all set in the same world there are two towns next to each other (other series) this is about some of them setting up a bodyguard company and the first book is when Carter is filming his film and poor kate gets a stalker.I found it odd how red could not fight off I'm going to say her not to give to much away he is a trained soldier and a bear he had the power to stop her touching his balls and stop her from kissing him? I found that two creepy and too far it could of just been a quick kiss and he push her away, the camera should of showed her attack.that spoiled it for me but the storyline was good

Red is a bear shifter and ex military meeting up with some old friends from Bear Creek while in search of a new profession after caring for his mother during her terminal illness. Kate is young, but has been pushed into acting by her mother since she was a child. They wind up in the same place at the same time and Red comes to her aid just as she is evading a stalker. She has no real reason to trust him, but there is just something about him. On the other hand, he is flabbergasted to find out that she is his mate! So begins the real activity of the plot, complete with twists and red herrings. And romance! Another excellent read!

This is a short, suspenseful bear shifter romance with an intriguing plot.
There is: bear shifters, a bird shifter, a strong-willed female actress (Kate), a desperate mother (Marylin), a bear shifter bodyguard (Redford aka Red), some intrigue, suspense, twists & turns, mystery, danger, threats, stalkers, memories, friendship, confusion, set-ups, law enforcement, grudges, emotional feelings, fate, mates, attractions, love and a little steam.
The characters are well developed and interesting with individual personalities.
I really enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it.
There is: bear shifters, a bird shifter, a strong-willed female actress (Kate), a desperate mother (Marylin), a bear shifter bodyguard (Redford aka Red), some intrigue, suspense, twists & turns, mystery, danger, threats, stalkers, memories, friendship, confusion, set-ups, law enforcement, grudges, emotional feelings, fate, mates, attractions, love and a little steam.
The characters are well developed and interesting with individual personalities.
I really enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it.

It is what you expect
If you wanted a romantic shifter story, then it is as expected. I feel bad that I read this book right after reading an amazing bestselling trilogy... it was hard to shift from that to this type of book. It was very predictable and I knew who the bad guy was as soon as the character said ‘Hello’. No real surprises and the dialogue was a bit stale for me. I probably would have enjoyed it more if I hadn’t had my mind blown by the previous book series I read. Sorry

Actress Kate Killen has a stalker, but she also has a new mate, bear shifter Redford.
A story of long held hate and jealousy and how it tried to damage another's life, and chase her off the film job she had earned. Red and the crew of Bear Creek Security, whom he just joined, protect Kate and her mom and search for the stalker that tries to harm Kate's mom, Marylin, and chase Kate off the job. That's gonna be hard to do with shifters on the job, especially when one is your new mate.

I had really high hopes for this book… I LOVE bear shifter books! Unfortunately I found the writing very distracting. It felt very “amateur” to me and definitely needed a lot more editing to be ready for publication. The characters weren’t properly developed and I found myself wondering why the story line was being sped along instead of proceeding through a more logical development. It was a series of occurrences more than an actual plot. Don’t even get me started on the choppy and almost awkward love scenes. Very disappointing.

A+++ First Book In Series
I always look forward to reading about Harmony Raines Bear Creek bears and this new series is no exception. A sassy heroine and a big, sexy, protector bear plus catching up with some of my favorite Bear Creek characters was just the right combination to keep me reading way past my bedtime. Throw in some drama, action and suspense and Bear Creek Protectors gets an A+++ grade. So looking forward to reading more of this series.

Kate an actress is filming what she hopes is her last film. Kate has been acting since a child and is ready to try something new. Kate's mom is worried about her and makes some poor decisions. Red is meeting his friend who is working on the same film as Kate. Red and Kate meet in a park when someone is following Kate. Their lives are entwined and could romance and love be in their future? I highly recommend this book.

Good shifter romance
This is a good shifter romance, and a good start to another Bear Creek spin-off series. Kate and Red are a likable couple, and I liked that it featured characters from the earlier Bear Creek books. It is a quick read, so there wasn't time for a lot of in-depth character development -- but there was enough to like the couple and to introduce other series characters.

Kate is an actress working on Space Monkey s Four. For Kate, it is a high paid job so she could quit acting and start script writing. Someone is following her she she is walking in the Park. She is protected by an unknown man who turns out to be a friend of her movie co-star. As she gets to know him, she falls in love. He is a bear shifter and knows immediately that Kate is his mate. Another great story from Harmony Raines.

Red, an army buddy of Jamie and Caroline’s is the latest recruit for their budding bodyguard business as he grieves over the loss of his mother. Red’s walking in the park clearing his mind, actress Kate Kellan’s there for the same reason, he helps her evade a stalker. Having been manipulated for years by her overbearing mother, Kate isn’t sure Red didn’t arrange the park incident for some reason.

Wonderful
I have always loved the Bear Creek Bear Bluff books but this is one of my favorites. This is not only a wonderful shifter Romance with all the passion and drama you expect but it a great mystery too that keeps you guess until the end. I can't wait until the next Protectors book.

Red is headed back to Bear Creek for a job with Bear Creek Protectors. Before he gets there he meets his mate. Kate is on set making her last movie, only now she has a stalker. Red will do anything to keep his mate safe.

I needs me one of those!
Kate needs Red to protect her...although she doesn’t know that for a while. Their love blossoms reluctantly. Kate and Red’s story is yet another Bear Creek saga I highly recommend you read. Harmony Raines mixes humor with the serious task of bringing true mates together. Always so fun to read. I definitely needs me one of those protectors.

Red best bodyguard ever!
Enjoyable book. The mystery was good even if I figured out who was the "stalker" right away. I love the interaction of everyone from Bear Creek. I would love to at least visit Bear Creek if not live there. I'd rather not have to deal with snow. The place sounds beautiful and magical. I can't wait until book 2 is available. Red is my man er bear!!!

Real love not acting
Kate and Red meet in an unusual way, but feel the pull of fated mates immediately. Struggling to solve mysterious situations brings them closer together.
Raines gives us Bear Creek people outside of Bear Creek. Exciting and fun to read. I recommend reading this book.

Terrific
Anyone who is a fan will enjoy the latest offering from Harmony. Bear Creek familiar faces show up to start this new series off right! Kate and Red are a welcome addition to the Bear Creek Family and their story is heartwarming and an easy read with a guaranteed HEA.

Who’s doing it?
This was a nice “Who’s doing it” story. Kate has a strained relationship with her mother/manager, mainly because she is ready to live her life on her own terms. When danger rears it’s head in enters bear shifter/mate Red. While figuring out who was doing everything was easy, figuring out the why was a little more complicated.

Red has come to meet Jamie and Caroline about a a position as a bodyguard, not realizing that he is about meet his mate also in the park. Kate picks up a stalker while walking in the park, at least until she literally runs into Red. Can Red and the other bodyguards keep her safe?

I love all bear creek
I loved it, it did not disappoint. I truly love all and anything Bear Creek and how even though it's a different line, you still get characters from other parts of Bear Creek series I hope it continues because I Love all the previous characters from all of Bear Creek.

Yes, they are fated mates, they meet to soon, but they know how to help each other.
Kate is an actress, she's in a part that is very important to her. Red has lost his mother after taking care of her for a number of months. They meet when someone is chasing Kate, now they have to find out who that someone is.

This is the first book of this series and I loved it. It had a lot of suspense, drama, and action. The romantic parts were awesome as well as some of the comedy parts. The characters Kate and Red you will love. My favorite character was Carter though along with his mate.
