Rate this book

She spends her life painting the sun that hangs motionless in the sky over her village, until a foreign girl wielding a spear storms the village square and demands to know the way back to her home. But Alena only knows of her own homeland Eltad, an island floating in the middle of the sky.

Why does Alena have no memories of her childhood, and why is the sun in Eltad motionless? How did Notch arrive there, and where is the person she seeks? The answers may lie in the lighthouse at the island's heart. A lighthouse that never glowed until the day when Notch arrived on Eltad...
