First things first, let me introduce myself.
My name is Special Agent Derek Enzio Johnson.
But many know me as Enzio, Underboss of the Italian-American Mafia.
Yeah.
To say my life is complicated would be the understatement of the century. I live two lives. Criminal by day, agent by night.
Every day I have a role to play where my life hangs in a delicate balance.
I'm barely keeping it together.
And that’s before Iris Jane Shelby.

What a story! This is my first read from this author and with that being said these characters are all new to me as well. Enzio’s story pulled me in from the very beginning along with Iris. I can tell there’s more to Enzio and how his character began in other books BUT reading this as a standalone is absolutely doable and you will not get lost for a second. The sweetness yet forceful way Enzio’s character is fits him completely as an undercover agent, he’s able to express his thoughts and help sway things in his favor more often then not. When it comes to Iris, this woman is the most gentle and respectful person yet if you cross her she will not let her feelings be hidden. Their story together doesn’t have the traditional beginning but it’s their story nonetheless and I loved it even more for that. The storyline kept me on the edge and everything flowed smoothly without having any low points, we’re given a complete page turner from beginning to end. I’m definitely going to be grabbing the other books and hearing each of their stories. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

Enzio an undercover FBI agent is in a tight situation and isn’t quite sure he can go through with the plan or his orders. He’s been immersed in the family long enough that he has feelings for the women in this family and doesn’t want to hurt Lacey. However, when he is put in a position where has to choose between Lacey and Iris, a woman he has just met, things begin to clear in his head.

Iris is a woman who is in the wrong place at the wrong time and draws Fances’ attention. She’s from a small town in Texas, she’s awkward and very naive. Her awkwardness and naivety pull at Enzio’s protective strings and he can’t help but want to help her and protect her from the men he works for. I love Iris’ outlook on life and how she really tries to be such a nice person even after she has been treated so wrong. Her thoughts on forgiveness and her reason for forgiving are refreshing and make her such a lovable character.

Another great book by Bry Ann. I love the women in the Roses and Thorns series and adding Iris to that group as well as Blyth just makes the women in these stories so much better. I love a woman who stands up for herself and can draw the attention of these men when they need to make sure they are listening to them. I absolutely love these stories and I am looking forward to more stories of the men and their women that were mentioned in Enzio.

I read a lot and have read many mafia stories, which I love, by the way. Bry Ann is definitely one of my top Mafia love story authors. While these men are mafia, the story revolves a lot around their home lives and the women who bring out the best in them. I find these stories to really draw me into the lives of the characters and I love how they show the story from all points of view of the characters. I give this story a 5 star review and look forward to more of the men in these stories.

Enzio - Mafia underboss by day, FBI agent by night. The two worlds are getting muddled and lines are being crossed.
Derek (Enzio) has been undercover trying to bring the Boss down but on the way he has become friends with Lacey the Boss's wife, and has a grudging respect for some of the guys and he doesn't want to see Lacey or her friends hurt.
Iris is out to track down and bring to justice her brother's murderer, who she believes is Boss. Derek needs to save Iris and get her and himself out of the group.
Everyone gets a mention in this book, Sven and Rose, Boss and Lacey, Nix and Sage. Their stories entwine through the book.
This book was definitely lighter and not as dark but after all the tough of Roses and Thorns it was refreshing to read softer.
We are introduced to new FBI characters such as Carson and Collin together with Iris's brothers which are all in need of stories of their own.
I am so looking forward to reading Sage and Nix story next which I understand will be darker than dark - bring it on!!! 😊

I Loved Enzio/Derek’s story sooo much. He is such an amazing character. He is sooo gentle, nice, kind to Iris.
Irís... what a crazy, lovely, loyal, kind character she is. Loved her!
Wow! I loved how Derek talked to Adam
About Lacey. Wow! His loyalty and devotion to Lacey is just pure heaven!

And once again I adore that thick skulled, stubborn man,Adam Ruston. From book to book my love and adoration for him and Lacey goes stronger and stronger.
I loved Sven and Rose, loved Maria and loyal, protective, stunning Cut...

Let me tell you something, I LOVE THIS BOOK and you should read it too! You won’t be disappointed.

Enzio was a character I wanted to know more about because he felt to nice to be « good » and jeez I didn’t see that coming!
I love how he is trying hard to do his job and get his emotions on track, but you can see, he is just human!

Iris, is nice, a little bit naive that is for sure but I like them both together. They fit perfectly.

You get to read about all the other characters who had their story or yet for Nix, and I really enjoyed it.
You will meet with new characters and I can’t wait to see if a story will come out of two of them ....!!!

The story was well written.
Thank you for another great story!

Loved it!!

I gasped and was speechless on the first page!!! I was really torn and part of me didn't want to carry on reading because, having read the Roses and Thorns series I was now part of that life (you'll get it of you've read it) and this story was looking to upset that! But of course I had to read on.....
The twists go from sweet, innocent and dreamy to the darkness that continuously surrounds these characters.
Bry Ann kept me guessing how the plot was going to develop throughout the whole book, and I didn't guess right once!! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Highly recommended.

Okay so first let me say that I have loved this entire series and it has been difficult to choose a favorite, but this story might just be it. I cannot explain (well) just how much I loved Enzio and his journey in this book. He has been a slight mystery to the reader throughout the Roses and Thorns series and what I thought I knew about him was not always correct. I loved that he (and the author) kept me on my toes trying to guess where the story was going and how he would find his way.

I will always recommend that any reader read the previous stories (Roses and Thorns) to better understand this one (that is mainly because I loved them so much I want everyone to experience them as well); but this is a standalone story and can be read that way of you so choose.

This is the story of Enzio, Underboss of the Mafia or Special Agent Derek Enzio; depending on who you talk to. I loved the duality of this character and how he had to choose his real path. What a complicated life he leads. He is tasked with getting all the intel on his mafia buddies, and in the process he might destroy his best friend.

This story was a little lighter than previous stories, but it was still filled with passion and emotions. I felt what Enzio felt; I was making those decisions right along with him. I even found myself talking to him, like her could hear me and I was his conscience.

I know that this is a mafia romance and there was a great lead female character, Iris; but I am so enraptured with Enzio that I mostly focused on him. Iris was a great balance and conscience for Enzio. I loved their relationship and how she helped even when he was not conscience of that help. She was his perfect match. Even through Enzio is in the fight of his life, determined to do what is right for himself, he was so caring and sweet with Iris. I loved that she was his soft balance to the hard man he had to become for his dual life. Iris was a bit over the top at times but it worked well for both the story and for Enzio. I really enjoyed reading about these two.

If you have read the other stories you will get cameos from past characters that only adds to the brilliance of this story. I loved when, as a reader, I get to revisit past characters; it is always so much fun. That being said, I also love that new characters were introduced, because that means more stories from this fantastic author. I will be sitting (slightly impatiently) for more. I highly recommend this story and this series.

One of the most pointless books ever

This Iris character, I am sorry but her naivety was really grating. It made her sound like a child rather than a grownup. It’s good that she had a safe upbringing but not being aware of the world is not a good thing. I understand that the author wanted to show that not all bad people are bad and vice versa but to me it just came out as complete utopia. Yes I felt bad for Lacey and sure her husband made her happy but let’s not forget that he was a violent criminal who made loads of other families unhappy. So this complete everybody goes home in the end was stupid. As a process, undercover work doesn’t work like that. It’s not made obvious who the agent is, it doesn’t last years usually and lastly you really don’t go home with a victim/witness. As an aside what did Iris thought she was going to do? Give the killer a stern talking to? Going to the authorities with that tape might have made more sense. Anyway I’ll give this book a miss.

Oh Enzio, you are one bad ass guy! Love this book...a little different than the rest of the series and you know what?!?! That's ok because Enzio is hot! This story is sweeter, and is perfect. Chloe is pure Texan through and through and I love her small town ways and family(can't wait til we get her brothers stories!). Enzio and Chloe make the perfect couple. Seriously, you NEED to read this entire series!!!

This book had a lot of parts that I really liked and others that left me scratching my head. Perhaps if I had read the previous books introducing the characters it would have made better sense. I had thought that this was a standalone story.

There were a lot of different character chapters which also confused me but I'm intrigued enough to want to continue.

I can’t wait to get this book in y’alls hands. This is a lighter, but more shocking, suspenseful read than my other books. Plus, we get some new characters to love including some hot as f country men. 😉

Honestly i didn't like Iris at all, she is so annoying and so naive. I can't stand it I'm sorry . I usually like the girls a little naive but this is to much lol. I liked a lot Enzio and i liked a lot reading about the other couples. This is the only reason i kept reading it...

I absolutely LOVE this author!!

Enzio is undercover for the FBI but after spending months as the Underboss in the mafia he is walking a fine line until one night he is out walking the streets with the capo and runs into a beautiful, sassy, scared southern girl, one he finds himself protecting at all costs. Now for the first time he will risk it all but will it be worth it?? 🖤🖤
