A devastating betrayal shattered our relationship before it ever began, my attempt to escape going horribly wrong. But telling Xander it’s over proves to be a dangerous mistake, revealing a ruthless side of him I was only beginning to suspect. Surrounding me with bodyguards, he swears he’ll go to any lengths to protect me. I swear he’s keeping me prisoner.
Sin was a lie I believed from the beginning.
Instinct warned me we’d crash and burn. A warning I should have heeded. No less his prisoner than Xander’s, Sin is just as ruthless, his determined seduction unrelenting. My suspicions behind his motivations only intensify when he refuses to leave my bed, softening his threats of restraint with a wickedly suggestive laugh I no longer believe.
I was deceiving them both.
Two men who will stop at nothing to ensure I’m theirs. Two men I no longer trust. Yet I’m powerless against my own desires, caving under their dual assault, unable to resist a decadent temptation I’d only gotten a taste of. I tell myself neither man will keep me from my investigation, but as shocking secrets are exposed, I question where my loyalties lie and just how much I’m willing to sacrifice for justice. Ultimately, I know there is only one inescapable truth…revealing the killer will destroy us all.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: This book is intended for mature audiences due to explicit language and sexual content. Sensuous is a ménage romance that's all about the girl. There are NO M/M scenes. Sensuous ends in a cliffhanger.
The Sinful Surrender Quartet should be read in the following order:
Sinful Sensuous Scandalous will be released December 2018. Shameless will be released early 2019.
Katherine Hawthorne is the sexier, erotic side of a bestselling romantic mystery author. She loves sexy alpha males and books that come with warnings. By far, her greatest guilty pleasure is ménage romance, which is exactly what she writes. Shucking off the last vestiges of her oh so proper Ivy League education, she traded tedious academic writing, combined her favorite genres, and found her greatest joy in writing suspenseful erotic romance.
When Katherine isn’t writing, you can find her racing down the ski slopes in the winter and relaxing on the beach in the summer, most likely lost in a book. Married with four children, three of which still live at home, life is a never-ending crazy thrill ride, one she quite happily embraces.
So good, but so frustrating. I’m loving every minute!
This was every bit as good as the first book, the mystery and suspense were terrific. This book centered around Belle, Sin and Xander trying to solve the murders, while more crimes are going on. Also they all are still being secretive with each other so while Belle might be in the know about certain things, Xander and Sin may know other details and that keeps things interesting.
The intimacy between the three main characters was taken up a notch or three. The heat level of this book hit somewhere between sweltering and scorching. I'm not sure if it was just me, but for some reason I just don’t like Xander very much. It could be that I really think that Belle is sometimes an ignorant witch and she purposely hangs all over Xander because she has seen him as her hero since she was seventeen. However, every time Belle does this she is basically showing Sin that she prefers Xander and loves Xander and not Sin. I think Sin is much hotter and I don’t know what she is thinking but it pissed me off. And though Xander has promoted the idea of the threesome and he even tells Sin that Belle loves him as well, he certainly doesn’t turn her down when she does this. He loves that she sometimes prefers him and he is shameless about it.
After giving it some space though, I do see that Belle seems to prefer Xander when she wants comfort and safety and Sin when she is feeling stronger and wants his dominance, which she seems to crave. I hope things go differently in the next book. I can’t wait to see what happens. These first two books have been very much driven by the crimes and like I said in my first review, seemed to read more like True Detective than a romance novel about a threesome. Which is awesome, you don’t often get such a good storyline with a steamy book like this. However, now that they have basically solved the murder, I wonder if the next book will revolve only around their relationship or if some other crime or mystery will come into play. I guess I can only read on to find out.
Of course, there was another big cliffhanger, and this one I think will not be resolved immediately. I sort of hate it when there is a huge cliffhanger in a book and then it turns out to be nothing when you start reading the next book. You have all sorts of scenarios in your head as to what will happen and then the first page says something like she wakes up and it was a bad dream. That absolutely can’t happen here.
Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I can't get enough of this series!!!! It goes beyond a simple romance, it's got so many different layers.
The suspense!!!!! Ah, the suspense is killing me!!!!!
Too bad the covers of this series shows nothing about its depth.
Sensuous started right where Sinful ended. Hanging onto the edge of a MAJOR cliff. Once that got sorted, the drama continued, not letting up for even one page.
Thank you to NetGalley for supplying an electronic copy in return for an honest review.
I picked up the second book in the Sinful Surrender Quartet because the first novel ended on quite the cliffhanger & I was eager to find out what would happen next.
This is a polyamorous romance, suspense book. There are aspects that I enjoyed & some I didn’t. The underlying mystery of the novel was what kept me reading and ultimately finishing this book. If it wasn’t for that I would have DNF it. Unfortunately, I did not find that the main character improved at all from the first book. Her actions & decisions never changed. She had absolutely no growth and I found her to be selfish and blind to what was around her.
This is a personal issue I absolutely understand that but I just found myself forcing myself to finish this book so I believe I will not continue on with the series.
I recently read SINFUL (read my review www.momobookdiary.com) and was eager to read SENSUOUS, the second book of the series. I was lucky enough to be granted a copy from NetGalley and BooksGoSocial to read and review. Here is my honest review in my own words.
Well…. what can I say? Sensuous is a steaming hot sequel. Just what I needed after that SINFUL cliffhanger.
This is part two of a four-part story telling the tale of an exceptionally erotic threesome - a relationship between a woman and two men. Two men who she trusted completely until she received information that makes her question everything she thinks she knows!
The story is a romantic suspense, a heart-pumping all-action thriller, and so much more. There are many twists and turns, unexpected events - it is a fascinating mesmerising high-speed ride!
Katherine Hawthorne, your writing is fantastic and pulls the reader into the page! … but may we ask that you please write faster…. we need the next book!
So, book one ended on a cliff-hanger and I pushed myself to start this one because otherwise I would have taken months to get back to it (better to get it done and dusted, I guess) and eh.
Like, sure, the writing was good but I didn't stick around for the romance – I stuck around for the crime. But even then, that was walking this thin line of "yeah it could happen but really, would it happen like this?"
I didn't really like our MC thorughout the whole thing either – she was early twenties, but did things that made me think she was still a teenager? She's a police detective but doesn't think things through or pay attention, and constantly jumps to her own conclusions without finding out all the facts.
I don't really have words for the guys. They don't really make sense. They're "as close as brothers" and don't want to share but inevitably do share. And then they're both characters that do these weird af 180º personality changes? And sometimes stuff happens that so obscure that it just assumes you understand some weird backstory about their childhood (which might have been explained but I might have skimmed it a bit)
I like a good romance – polyamorpous romance doesn't even bother me, you do you but this one was not for me. Maybe this one is for you though (if you're 18+)
1.75/5 (it's getting this because I could see potential)
For most of the book, I was enjoying it a lot more than the first one, because there was an overall better balance of romance and drama (whereas in the first book I felt the drama far outshined the romance parts). There was a pretty good threesome scene as well as a sex scene between Xander and Belle that I thought was well done. I was ready to give this at least a 2.5 or 3 star rating even though I still felt that the relationship between Xander, Sin, and Belle was all kinds of weird.
Then comes Belle's sex scene with Sin. I had some issues with Sin in regards to him getting full consent from Belle in the first book, but this book took it way too far in my opinion. In this particular sex scene, everything is going well until Sin tries to get Belle to do something she doesn't want to do. She explicitly tells him to STOP, but his response is "it's too late for that" and something along the lines of "it'll feel good in a second" and he proceeds to KEEP DOING WHAT HE WANTS TO DO. ARE YOU F*CKING KIDDING ME???
I had to stop reading after that (about the 75% mark). Idgaf what happens with the plot, because I'm just so pissed at the author and this book in general. BYE FELICIA.
This was a NetGalley arc, so I guess thanks for letting me read this for free??
Sensuous by Katherine Hawthorne is a MFM Ménage Romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Lacy Laurel, Connor Crais, and James Cassidy. This is the second book in the Sinful Surrender Quartet series.
The book comes with an author's note: "This book is intended for mature audiences due to explicit language and sexual content. Sensuous is a ménage romance that's all about the girl. There are NO M/M scenes."
This is the first series of Katherine's that I have read and it won't be my last. I was sucked in with the first book and can't wait to see how the series progresses. I am loving the chemistry between Belle, Xander, and Sin. I really enjoyed getting all of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
The book ends on a great cliffhanger that left me begging for more. I can't wait to dive into the next book Scandalous so I can get more of their story.
Lacy, Connor, and James did an amazing job on the narration. They really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you like MFM Ménage Romances, Erotic Romances, or Romantic Suspense.
This book picks up where the first ended. The powerful trio, Sin, Xander, and Belle. She is still looking for the truth but who can she trust? Nothing is as it seemed in the beginning. They both love her, the chemistry between them is smoking hot, but the secrets are going to tear them apart. There is a lot of drama and crime full of suspense that had me glued to the book. We finally get some answers and mystery is partially solved, the secrets are revealed. It bothered me that she is still making immature decisions. I hoped she would develop more through this book, but I guess she needs more time. Both of her men are intense and there are some nice menage scenes. The drama is a bit over the top but it was still a great book and I will definitely read the next one to.
I was grateful to receive a free copy of Sensuous in Exchange for an honest review. I read the fist book, Sinful, and easily gave it five stars with a surprise cliff hanger ending. I couldn't wait too get my hands on Book 2, Sensuous. It was just as good as the first book. However, I did have to revisit the first book, to recall some of the "finer" details. Once that was done, I was able to delve into the plot once again, and Katherine Hawthorne did not disappoint. The good news is Book 2 reveals the killer (s), but leaves the reader with another dilemma. Once again, I will have to wait to see what happen next in Book 3....... I can hardly wait:-)
Fantastic!! Twisted and suspenseful!! Had me on the edge of my seat! Definitely a page turner! Sensual and passionate!! Hot as hell!! My goodness I need more!!
This book definitely had a lot of action, in and out of the bedroom. I enjoyed reading a story with 2alphas wanting the same girl. You did an engine job filling in background information. It will be interesting to see what you have planned for the next book!

AUTHOR'S NOTE: This book is intended for mature audiences due to explicit language and sexual content. Sensuous is a ménage romance that's all about the girl. There are NO M/M scenes.“ After the cliff-hanger of the first book, I was desperate to read on to find out what on earth is going on with Sin & Xander and of course Belle. Oh boy book 2 was even better. Book 2 starts right where Book 1 left off - with a hysterical Bella. Sensuous picks up were Sinful left off. This can't be read as a stand alone. I thought I was addicted to those characters in the first book, but now I realize I'm totally obsessed! It's been a long time since I was so caught up in a series. There is a German author who has written two book series in which such triangular relationships occur and I also love these series idolatrously. This series by Katherine Hawthorne easily joins my favorite book series. I especially like it when there is no clear choice between the partners in such a relationship, or when you end up confessing that you do not have to decide or have to, when you can have everything and everyone is happy and content. So much happens in these books. I completely get my danger fix along with some great romantic tension and chemistry. As for the sexy scenes, they truly enhance the story. Whether the erotic scenes include MF or MFM, they are just hot, hotter, hottest. Belle no longer trusts Xander and Sin. She can't deny the hold they have on her. Their attempts to keep her safe have her taking risks to get answers. The men ask for honesty. The three start to build a relationship. Belle is still hiding information from both men. But Belle finally wants justice for her parents, and again she hurts Sin, even though she really just wants to protect him. But he still stands by her side. The truth behind Belle's parents deaths is revealed. Sin may have just lost Belle, the women he loves and Xander, the man he has called brother, in the process. This book had a lot of twist and I would have never guess that person of all people was even behind things as well. The storyline was well written, the plot flowed smoothly from page to page and the characters were so strongly written that I was totally enthralled as I turned each page! But then to the end ... What a cliffhanger! How dare Katherine Hawthorne leave me hanging like this? I can't say enough, another great one! Intense, suspenseful, super Hot, dramatic and full of twists and turns. I can't get enough of this series, unfortunately now I have to wait for the next book. Book two is just phenomenal as book one and I'll expect the same for books three and four. Let me summarize, this book is sensual and passionate!! Hot as hell!! I'm still dying to know what happens next. I need book three! This book, oh no the whole series so far, receives from me 5 + / 5 stars. I received a free copy of this book via Netgalley and BooksGoSocial and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This installment of the quartet does live up to its name with the sensual scenes having very high heat value and more than a little steam. While the two male protagonists are powerful alphas, at times their alphaness felt outsized for me. They sometimes came off as being cruel to my mind. It isn’t because Hawthorne wrote them poorly, I want to make that clear.
They are very well created and executed. I’m not certain how well I like them as they exist. It’s a personal aspect that shouldn’t put this book or the quartet in a bad light. I personally felt fearful of the darker sides of the male protagonists despite how well they make one intellectually aroused at the same time. Basically, the two male protagonists make one love to hate them and hate to love them – the contradictions and confusion is strong with them.
They do, eventually, temper their darker intensity and become more manageable, acceptable to my mind. They feel more in tune with gentler, more tender emotions and admit their fears, their pain, their utter love for and about Belle.
I would say this quartet is as well a very dark erotic romance series. The emotional intensity and more sinful aspects take it down that path and does it very well. I honestly had to fight my own emotions as I read what the three protagonists felt, said, thought. I could see where their motivations came from quite clearly and as an empathic person, I truly felt the rapidly rising and falling emotional ride that the reader takes over the course of the series. Those emotions that characters feel blended in with my lived experiences and I felt overwhelmed with sensations, things the felt both good and bad, right and wrong.
While those feelings shine brightly in my mind, the arcs of the Belle’s continuing investigation into the deaths of her parents keep the plot surprising, twisting, turning, escaping prediction. That part, for me, balances out the dark erotic romance that sometimes hits me harder than I would like personally. It provides some relief and rest from the powerfully intense emotions that leave me in catharsis. This plotline also rounds out the characters and their motivations with gritty, hard realism of what happens when there is truth to be found and it is stolen at every turn, leaving the characters even more motivated to find it at last. I was as surprised, shattered, left in utter disbelief as the characters as each new twisted, dark turn revealed itself.
I will say that I read the final three books one after the other before writing this review so some of my thoughts include the entire set of story arcs as they appear through the continuing story and plot lines. It stays faithful to the overarching arc that “Sinful” started with so there’s no disappointment in that area.
I thought I was addicted to these characters in the first book, Sinful, but now I realize I'm completely obsessed! It's been a long time since I have been this caught up in a series. I find myself often in a book funk endlessly scrolling my recommendations for something that will grab me and not let go then finally choosing something that ends up being good but leaves me not quite satisfied. I started this series not expecting much and worried that it might end up being another of the endless menage stories which have little plot and ridiculously crude language/scenes. I was so happy when I found just the opposite. I found two unbelievably sexy powerful guys who were obsessed with the same feisty determined woman. Sharing her was not their plan, probably not their preference. If either could steal her for his own without breaking her heart over the other, I'm pretty sure he would. The pull between wanting to root for Xander then in the next moment being sure that Sin is Belle's best choice is my favorite part of this story. My favorite series are triangles where there is no clear choice and the author pulls my sympathy and emotions back and forth. Right now, I'm team Sin, but that could change.
Even though this is a menage series, it is at heart a romantic suspense above all, and it's not one of those boring RS books where you get an action scene at the end if you're lucky. So much happens in these books. I completely get my danger fix along with some great romantic tension and chemistry. As for the sexy scenes, they truly enhance the story and make me have to go wake up my husband (if you know what I mean) after -or in the middle of- my late night reading. Some of the scenes are MF, and some are MFM; all are so steamy and well written.
I know some people don't like cliffy endings, but it just heightens the suspense for me. The cliffy in this book is less severe than the way book one ended, but I'm still dying to know what happens next. I need book three! I need more Sin and Xander!

Review:
The second book in the Surrender Quartet started slow. At some point I started thinking it should be condensed. However, when the story started getting interesting, it never stopped. The last 50% of this book is highly interesting, we start to discover what happened with Belle’s parents and it kept in the edge of the seat the entire time. Every time I thought I had things figured out, I didn’t and the ending chocked me. Oh, and while the first book was lukewarm (regarding the hot scenes), this one was pretty hot! One thing that bothered me: Belle’s narration. I don’t know if it’s the way she is being interpreted here, but I haven’t enjoyed her chapters as much as Sin’s and Xander’s. It may be a problem with the character, the narrator or both. That’s (and the slow beginning) is the reason this audiobook is not getting the maximum rating from me. This book ended in a major cliffhanger and I’m tremendously curious to know what happens next.
I’ve received a complimentary copy of this audiobook in exchange of my honest opinion.
Love this series. Sensuous picks up were Sinful left off. This can't be read as a stand alone. Belle no longer trusts Xander and Sin. She can't deny the hold they have on her. Their attempts to keep her safe have her taking risks to get answers. A contact a the Gala, promises Belle information on what happed to her parents, and ends in another suspicious death. Then Belle is kidnapped, and Xander's has to tell Sin who she really is and what she really wants. Sin feels betrayed. When they get her back she has more questions then answers. The men ask for honesty . The three start to build a relationship. Belle is still hiding information from both men. Now she only wants to protect Sin, and is conflicted on justice for her parents and not destroying Sin in the process. It blows up in her face when Sin's father confesses. Again Sin feels betrayed, but stands by Belle. All roads lead back to the beginning. The truth behind Belle's parents deaths is revealed. Sin may have just lost Belle, the women he loves and Xander, the man he has called brother, in the process. A heart breaking ending on a cliffhanger. A fast paced, intense and steamy romantic suspense, with MF MFM, no MM. Loved Sin, Belle and Xander, they are a volatile and explosive triad. Couldn't put the book down. Can't wait for the next book.
4.5 Stars Review by Allyson Late Night Reviewer Up All Night w/ Books Blog
What a continuation of a novel! Xander, Belle and Sin are back with a BANG in Sensuous by Katherine Hawthorne, the second book in her Sinful Surrender Quartet series. This criminal intense romance picks up right where Sinful left off so it's imperative you read the prequel before diving in headfirst to this fierce novel.
I couldn't quite connect with Sinful (prequel), but let me inform you, I absorbed 100% with every ounce of my being into Sensuous. The three characters within this series are off the charts riveting, emotional and powerfully dynamic. Both Xander and Sin are alpha, possessive and are the most authoritative men that I have read in a long time. They come together to protect the woman they love but in doing so, are they pushing her away, smothering her in their controlling temperaments?
"Xander, a blonde god, heartbreakingly beautiful. Sin, the devil incarnate, wickedly sexy. Heaven and Hell. And together... they made a formidable pair."
Hawthorne does leave you with a cliffhanger so be prepared to throw the book, yell, scream but make no mistake I am on the edge of my seat waiting to see what will happen next in Scandalous.

I felt compelled to buy this book at my favorite bookseller because the first book in the quartet ended with such a cliffhanger. And I started reading it not even 24 hours after having finished the first book because I was so intrigued by the vagueness in the language in its final chapter. Whose father was in the photos with Belle’s parents? Which lover shot the other? How badly injured was the one who was shot?
Although these questions were again asked in the first chapter of Sensuous, the second book in the quartet, the answers were just the start of the wild ride. Both the unsolved murder mystery and the complex interpersonal relationships built in tension and suspense and then released part way, only to start building again! By the end of the book, I was exhausted, having to read pages over again just to catch all the details. After one of these tense dynamics seemingly gets resolved, the ending feels like a rollercoaster coasting back into the station. And then right on the last page, the other tense dynamic gets all blown up again.
I wouldn’t call this ending a cliffhanger because I didn’t leave the book feeling like I just had to read the next one to know what happens next. I’m going to move on from this series to something totally different (a cocktail book) before things start feeling stale and repetitive.
Sensuous is the second book in the Sinful Surrender series by Katherine Hawthorne and is just as good, if not better than the first book. It starts where Sinful leaves off. Belle is feeling totally alone. After a betrayal from someone she thought she could rely on no matter what, she is left not knowing who she can trust. The fact that she is surrounded by bodyguards only adds to this. Are they there for her protection or to keep her a prisoner? She thinks she knows who killed her parents but in proving it she could hurt someone she is coming to love. But at the same time can she really walk away from clearing her father’s name? After all her search for justice has made her the woman she is today.
This story has it all. Murder, mayhem, kidnapping, secret identities, long buried secrets, a love triangle. Two alpha men who love the same woman. I can’t wait to read what’s next in store for Belle.
—>>> Xander and Sin do everything in their power to protect their girl, despite their rivalry for her affections, even at the risk of smothering her, but temptation and betrayal are in all their way, even though they have all moved forward from what they had before. This read is full of enticing secrets and the revealing of some, secrets Belle is becoming more and more desperate to uncover in order to determine exactly what happened to her beloved parents. Be prepared for shocking reveals and smoking-hot chemistry between them all when their passionate natures boil over and get the better of them. The book summary is more than adequate to give you an idea of what is coming, and I urge you to start this series with the first book, Sinful, which will explain their history together. You do not want to miss out on this series! The twists and developments will keep you enthralled.
I received this as an eARC to read for free in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for giving me access.
By all means, this is not my average read. I was pre-approved for this book, so I thought "why not?" Why not? It's simple. The relationship between the three main characters is toxic. They all manipulate each other to get exactly what they want.
Did you cringe between the relationship of Bella, Edward and Jacob in Twilight? How about Ana and Christian's relationship in 50 Shades of Grey? Sensuous is a mixture of both. Awkward at times and confusing.
Take the steamy parts out, and the story is pretty good. I love a good thriller/suspense story and this didn't disappoint there. I just had a problem with the writing. It seemed at times that Hawthorne skipped details and I was left wondering how I ended up here.
Overall, this was an okay book. I'll continue to find out more about the crimes that happened.
Sensuous is the second book in the Sinful Surrender Quartet series and picks up where the Sinful ends. Sinful must be read first as this is not a stand-alone series but the books must be read in order. The story-line is interesting and still concentrates more on the mystery/suspense side of the story as opposed to the character development and their relationship. Actually the relationships between Belle and Sin, Belle and Xander and then all three together is really filled with a lot of secrets which cause their own issues and interplay. Add in the fact that both Sin and Xander are fighting over Belle instead of working together to keep her safe is perplexing to me. This book does end with another cliffhanger...........so on to the next in the series, Scandalous, to see what happens next.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
After the events that occurred in the first book of this series Belle is left wondering is she can trust either Sin or Xander. They are both determined to protect her but she is equally determined to find the answers she needs about the past and gives little thought to her personal safety.
Belle finally acknowledges she wants to be more than friends with Xander and that her antagonism towards Sin is just a front for what she really feels as the chemistry between them ignites. Belle is also keeping a secret that will not only cause conflict between her and her men but put her life in danger as well.
Although some questions are answered some remain as the cliffhanger leaves the three of them shattered and uncertain if they can overcome everything that happened and have a future together. The performance of the narrators was perfect as they brought out the suspense and steam of the story. 🎧 Audiobook Obsession
After the WTF-cliffhanger on Sinful I was awaiting the second part of Sinful Surrender. And yay, finally Sensuous came on Netgalley. So, now I finally could read about the shooting of Belle and Sin by Xander. Why did Xander shoot Sin? And who murdered Belle's parents? Was it Sin's father? Or did Xander's parents have something to do with it? In Sensuous, Belle picks up on her investigation. However, both Xander and Sin have reasons to keep her in the bedroom and not on the investigation. The riddles continue, when more bodies are piling up. And the heat in the bedroom is also increasing. So after this part, my (damp) panties are still in a twist, because there are still more unanswered questions. So, now I have to wait for the third part to come out! Four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.
Sensuous was just as gripping as Sinful! I couldn’t stop reading no matter how tired I was! I love the story line and how the plot carries itself over to the next book. It keeps me wanting more and I do want more!
This book leaves you earning for the next page or chapter to find out the answer to the burning questions Belle has and what happened to her family and just when she thinks things are calming down bam another mystery that ties into the first. I love the cliffhanger effect and was not disappointed especially when the first 2 books were equally matched in suspense and earning.
Even though this is a steamy in more ways than one book, it doesn’t take away from the suspense and mystery. It left me needing to find out the answers myself and wanting more every page I turned and didn’t leave me disappointed. Such a good read!
The second outing in the Sinful Surrender series continues with the expansion of both the relationship(s) between the 3 main characters and the mystery that surrounds the possible murder of Belle's parents. The romance is scorching hot and very well written which is unfortunately not a common element found in a lot of menage romances. That said I did have some issues with the 'relationship' aspects as the men went overboard trying to prove their alpha male statuses. I also thought that Belle's character came across slightly weaker than in 'Sinful' and she allowed Xander and Sin to overwhelm her; I would like for her to stand up to them more. But overall I enjoyed the read and was excited to read the next outing in the saga!
Thank you to Netgalley and BooksGoSocial for the opportunity to R&R, all opinions are my own.
So I was a little hesitant to pickup the second book (mostly for to the main character), but the story ended in such a cliffhanger that I had to know what happened next. I really hate rating low, but this woman is supposed to be smart, a police officer, a grown woman (>23yo), and taken care of herself for years yet she acts like a child. She is indecisive and makes poor decisions. The plot is interesting but the characters so no growth what so ever. In fact, the men lose growth around this woman. I won't be continuing on with this series just because I really want to smack someone right now. I usually never get this worked up either. Ladies, get me a fan cause I need to call down. Sorry, if offend. I really think those had potential, but was derailed by a bratty female lead. 😣

I blame my rating on my high expectations! I was so wrapped up in the murder mystery of Belle's parents and the mysterious killer out to kill Belle. Then I got close to the end, and things started speeding up real fast. And all of a sudden it ended up being predictable. This is where I blame my rating on my expectations. The love story was frustrating. Belle can't communicate or be honest with anyone to save her dang life.....literally! And she is supposed to be smart and bad ass. One minute I liked both guys, then the next minute I wanted to smack them. And another thing... the word NO and STOP, mean exactly NO and STOP!!! No exceptions!!! They needed to communicate with each other so bad. Before things got to complicated or really intimate they all should have discussed a list full of things. Instead they just decided the communication part was only on Belle's end and boy did she ever fail that test. A small part of me wants to know how this weird screwed up series ends. Which is why I talked myself in buying the last two books.
