He's hockey's newest star. She's his new personal assistant...and fake girlfriend. Together they have to prove he belongs on the team.
Noah Malkin thought life couldn’t get any better than the day he got recruited to the Utah Fury, well, until he was shipped off to their farm team. After a year of waiting, he’s going to play with his dream team and share the ice with his idols. He can’t mess up his only chance to prove this is where he belongs.
Colby Wells is struggling as a personal assistant when she gets an unexpected lifeline. Her new client, Noah, is the NHL’s newest sweetheart. She’s prepared for anything until her boss tells her she has to pretend to be his girlfriend, at least until the media circus around him settles down. If she can pull this off she'll be able to pay back her student loans in just a few months, a freedom she's desperate for.
Can they keep their relationship professional as they grow closer, or will Colby and Noah lose their contracts?
Book 3 in the Utah Fury series, each book can be read as a standalone.
Brittney has been an avid reader since she can remember. Her parents' form of punishment for her growing up was taking away her books and making her go outside to play. She was born and raised in Southern California, with a brief hiatus in Arizona. She loves the beach, exercising, sleeping in, and cookies. She is an obsessive dog lover, although her affection currently has no outlet. Something that she is planning on remedying soon. She and her husband currently reside in the Rocky Mountains exploring and hiking as much as possible.
Noah is having trouble, believing it’s true. Everything, Noah’s been working hard, all these years, and it is finally paying off. Hopefully, it will stick and not be temporary. Not that he wishes, ill will for the player he is replacing until he finds out, his fate. After, an awful injury, on the ice.
Now, he has a salary, and money that needs managing. So his agent hires, Colby to be his personal, PA. She will handle finding an apartment and a car. She will be buying his groceries, answering his emails, and handling his social media. He's twenty, and, Colby realizes, Noah lived a very sheltered life. He never got to experience life, like a normal person, at his age. Not a prom, or anything. Especially, if the event landed on something that, was earmarked for hockey.
Even though he was his peers they were all in the same boat. Nothing came before hockey. Obviously, it has paid off for, Noah because he was called up from, AHL to, the Fury, NHL. He thought he worked out enough on his own, and the exercise on the ice. He learns at the first practice, that he is, nowhere close. His legs, and, thighs are burning.
The thing that keeps him going is his, idols telling him, to not push himself so, hard. Because pushing too hard, when he is not ready due to strains, the game will suffer, plus more room for injury. He listens and makes sure to ice. The night of his first, NHL game he is a wreck. He is wigging out over his suit. He is aware that his, is not tailored made. Colby, however, talks him off the ledge.
Crisis averted. The game was won, and, Noah made an assist. After the game though going back through the tunnel, Chloe was worth her weight in gold she saved him from his she-devil fans. But, now his agent wanted her to be his fake girlfriend to save him when needed from fans, paparazzi, and himself. Bringing them instantly closer. With them both, catch feelings.
See if they feel brave enough to act on it or hold fast to what the contract says. Or will they do what feels good? Seeing what those around them have already seen and so much more about their relationship. Loved this book a total feel-good story.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I didn’t know exactly what to expect but it was awesome in a light hearted fun clean read sort of way. It’s definitely not a heavy on hockey book as far as play by play of the games goes which was fine by me since I’m not a big fan. But the characters were such a fun bunch of people that I really enjoyed seeing into that life some. It had a lot really funny lines and made my stay at home sick day more enjoyable.
A Rookie and his PA fake a relationship to help keep him safe. Noah is a babe on the woods because everyone always takes care of him. If he wasn’t so sweet and polite I would not find him to be a good main character. But he is gracious knows that the people he loves took care of him and is grateful. Noah is attracted and grateful to Colby. Very sweet romance. And the hockey players at one point dance and sing on the ice!!!!
Noah and Colby are just so cute. I wish I had her energy and administrative abilities with a personality and can-do attitude. Noah's focus, humility, and almost innocent attitude and behavior are just so sweet. The whole story is just so satisfying and brought a smile to my face. I especially enjoy the dynamics between the women and between the men. It's a good ending, and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
This story got me in the feelings! Brittney showed the other side to fame as an athlete. The uncertainty of it all, the worry, being overwhelmed, and even moving to a new place not knowing a soul! Bless Noah for how scared he was and thank Colby for being there to help him through it all! Wonderful, sweet story!
Loved Noah and Colby’s story. Each book is so relatable and different but the underlying theme of the Utah Fury is always there. Can’t wait to read Hartman’s story and more books from this author. Brittney is an amazing writer!
I love hockey romance, this author was new to me, but she didn't disappoint. I already love the characters she's starting to build the team family with, I can't wait to read more books in the series
This is a refreshing and sweet little romance with adorable and charming characters that will steal your heart from the very beginning til the end as they journey towards their happily ever after moment.
I wasn't liking it very much at the beggining, Colby was very hot and cold but it got better after. Noah was so naive and innocent that I was just wanted to hug him. Their major problem was communication issues, they had a lot of those
It was going so well, and then it ended. Like, I feel there needed to be at least another few chapters. None of the obstacles that the couple was facing actually got resolved or worked out. And I don’t know everything just felt incomplete.
The book overall wasn't bad, but I forgot I was even reading it, at least two times. The characters were likeable and well written with no drama involved, but they didn't feel fleshed out. It wasn't anything worth mooning over.
I really liked both lead characters and how they handled being suddenly thrust into the spotlight. I especially liked how the older players and their significant others embraced these 2 and made them feel welcomed and included.
