Two Lost Years is set in 1960s London when criminal gangs were thriving. When their father Jack, a well respected headteacher, dies in Liverpool in 2017 his daughters have to sort out his estate and they discover that his teaching record has two years missing. They want to find out what happened to him in London during that time and a short search of social media turns up a very unexpected result which initially horrifies them.
In 1963 Jack, who was living in a tumbledown house in Plumstead, London, had completed his teacher training and was starting out on his chosen career as a primary school teacher. He was popular and doing well when one day his life changed for ever. Unwittingly he was drawn into the murky world of gangland London.
His daughters delved deeper into his past through the newspaper records of the time and eventually managed to unravel the mystery. They were forced to think again about the man they considered staid and boring when they unearthed the shocking truth of his early life.
