When Annie Pepper's plan to get a family pet got sidetracked she is determined to do whatever it takes to set things right. This was a fun and very chaotic adventure. In fact it’s a very well organized chaos. The Pepper family is vivacious, loud and so colorful. If they visit you, you will be left feeling sort of empty long after their departure.
I enjoy how each character interacts with and influences the others in other for the story to move forward.

THE PEPPER PARTY PICKS THE PERFECT PET is an elementary level chapter book that is the first in a series about The Pepper Party, a family that is raucous and loving and wild and fun. The focus for this introduction to the Pepper family is adopting a pet from the local animal shelter. Author and illustrator Jay Cooper keeps the storyline moving with entertaining antics and creative combinations, but there are also issues surrounding the treatment of pets and shelter animals that crop up.
It's silly and fast-paced, but hopefully the antics don't eclipse the messages the close the story about proper care and the responsibility of adopting a pet.
