The good guys club is trying to save the world along with the international league of heroes. Mr. Wolf gets turned in to a big bad wolf by Dr. Marmalade and Mr. Wolf starts destroying everything. Mr. Snake and Agent Fox try to turn the big bad wolf back to Mr. Wolf.

On the other side, Mr. Piranha, Mr. Shark and Mr. Tarantula with some other members of the international league of heroes try to control the mothership. Dr. Marmalade takes away the good guys' superpowers and Mr. Snake is gone forever?

A good story but I feel like the stories are getting too short in the last few books. May be it's because there are too many characters now and the focus is on the characters rather than the story, I don't know. I still enjoyed it and looking forward to the next one. Mr. Snake is still the best.

Uh oh, Wolf is going psycho, the Bad Guys are having trouble getting through to him to stop his evil rampage, and the aliens are gaining more and more ground. And then, if that wasn't bad enough, Marmalade has another sinister secret weapon up his sleeve. Are the Bad Guys doomed?

Things just go from bad to worse in this Bad Guys book. Looks like Blabey is building the tension before a big ta-da moment in the next book. I do like Snake's attitude in this. The other guys want to give up, but he encourages them to persevere...and not everything fails. Kids today have this huge tendency to give up very easily and choose the path of least resistance. This is a great opportunity to talk about the good things that come out of persevering, even when it is hard. Looking forward to the next book with even more anticipation now, and so will other Bad Guy fans.

Can the crew save Mr Wolf from himself?

Eliana’s review: “This was funny. My favorite part is when Mr Snake is in Mr Wolf’s ear. And when Agent Fox is hanging on to Mr Wolf’s panties.”

OK, so I see that I have jumped into this series at almost the end... Thank goodness it isn't that difficult to figure out what is what!

So, the Wolf, I assume is part of the heroes, with the snake, the fox, the shark, and a couple more characters I am not quite sure of. The book starts as the Wolf and the aliens are attacking the city, but it looks like the Wolf is doing more damage than all the aliens put together.

The snake seems to step in and take charge, develops a plan, and saves the day. But in the end, he is thrown out of Wolf's ear and I didn't see him at the end. I guess that I have to read #10 when it comes out to see what happens.

So, my issue is that the book is so short it barely gets started before it is over and you have to wait...

This episode of THE BAD GUYS has the crew planning for a way to stop the aliens and help the big bad wolf, who is now Godzilla-sized and tearing down buildings. Told in an easy-to-read comic book style, most of the action is in the illustrations rather than the text. This is best read in order for the context of the previous books and to know who all of the characters are. The book does end in a cliffhanger for the next episode also.

What I loved: The images here are fantastic! A lot is conveyed through the black-and-white comic book style. The characters are all really well drawn in Blabey's comic style. The text is well-suited to the images and a lot of action occurs in the book (they are, after all, in the middle of an alien invasion). This series would be great for readers who are looking for a lot of action, images, and are in between picture books and chapter books (or reluctant chapter book readers). This really takes the bad guys and turns that on its head in a fun and approachable way.

Final verdict: Best read in order, this installment of THE BAD GUYS is action-packed and sure to be entertaining to elementary-school-aged readers. With fantastic illustrations and the right amount of text, this is a fun read- to be continued in the next book!

My 7 year old son loves this series! Is already begging to start the next book in the series. Great book for us to read together each night.

I had a big reading night last night and finished this rather quickly. It was pretty much a whole book about a giant wolf who can't control himself. Certainly not the worst thing I will ever read... Harrison was not impressed - but has faith that the series will continue to be brilliant.

*This review was verbally created by an 9-year-old boy, and transcribed by me*

I like that Mr. Wolf got stronger and badder. I still don’t like the new [girl] characters. I just don’t like new characters, why do they need to change everything? I only like the original bad guys. They’re not cool enough, maybe too cutesy compared to the bad guys.

My favorite part is when Mr. Snake gets flung into the air. He always gets thrown or flung around. He’s still my favorite character.

>< >< >< >< >< >< >< >< >< >< >< >< >< >< >< >< >< ><

From a parent’s perspective.

Apparently my kiddo does not like girls? or female characters? I think he got used to the original bad guys and their antics, and doesn’t want any newness. Who knows.

This installment, just like all the others, was super cute and adorable. We focused a lot on Mr. Wolf, who I always thought was the main character but is downplayed a lot in some of the other books.

There’s still so much teamwork at play, and the power of friendship.

Great for young readers who want to get into chapter books but still aren’t ready for large blocks of text.

The majority of the Bad Guys series has been extremely funny and enjoyable to read with my two daughters; however, this latest one The Bad Guys: Episode 9 - The Big Bad Wolf appeared to be trying to set up for the next book (much like Episode 1 did).

I expected to see The Bad Guys use their powers to a greater extent, but a lot of it was planning; first they planned to split up into teams to see who would take on the aliens and who would take care of Wolf in giant form; then it was planning how they were going to take on the aliens and planning how they would deal with Big Bad Wolf. So I am hoping that the next one (touted as the final Episode) will have a lot more action, rather than planning.

That said there were still some amusing bits and my girls did enjoy listening about and seeing their favourite characters. Looking forward to Episode 10.

{My thoughts} – Mr. Wolf ends up turning into The Big Bad Wolf. It is up to his friends to figure out who is going to try and talk him down and who is going to fight against the aliens.

I found this book to be very slow reading unlike the previous ones in the series. I really have been enjoying this series, however, there wasn’t really a lot of laugh out loud moments in this book. Not like it has been with the previous in the series. I feel that the author was trying to hard to set the tone for the next book and it took away from this book in a sense.

I do like how this book is put together. I am just not a big fan of the way in which it’s story was executed. I do hope that the next book in the series helps to make up for the flaws within the pages of this one.

The illustrations and the text are spot on and go together hand and hand. I look forward to reading more books in this series in the future.

Final Conclusion: 4 Star Rating.

This book focuses on a very brief snapshot in time, as the crew decides what to do about Wolf going crazy under the villain's influence. Snake's moment of emotional vulnerability near the end is meaningful, but this seems like fifteen minutes of a feature film, not like a satisfying series installment.

The Bad Guys along with the International League of Heroes are still trying to defeat the Aliens lead by Mr. Marmalade who has taken mind control of Mr. Wolf, who has increased in size and strength. It's going to take all they have collectively to gain victory, and save the city. The saga continues.

I think for me the enjoyment is wearing off a little but the kids still really enjoy it. By now though, I wish I'd picked different voices for some of the characters as it kills by throat reading these aloud. It's really become a segment of a longer tale and I would like to know it there is an end in sight.

The wolf was giant and began to crush and destroy all the buildings in the town around him. It was an action packed story for sure. The novel contained many different "hot topics". It talked about Dinosaurs, a bad Godzilla sized wolf, and even outer space. The friends in the story had to find a way to end the chaos. When they are finally able to shrink the wolf back to his original size and get him back to feeling normal again. Then, they loose snake in the process. The ending is a good way to get kids hooked to a book series. Now they will want to read the next in sequence in hopes to find an answer about the snake.
I must say that I really appreciated the Spanglish that was added into the book. There were a few times that Spanish vocabulary came up in the reading. It is so hard to find that in graphic novels and I truly appreciated the inclusivity. I also saw the friends making accommodations for the dinosaur. These are two really important topics that kids can learn about.
Throughout the book I saw many beautiful and detailed drawings. I wish the illustrations had more color.
