Pugs in a Blanket: A Wish Novel

Rate this book
Sam's parents run a catering company, which doesn't leave them much time for Sam. Though she has begged for a dog, her parents say they are just too busy.

But when she finds two pugs wrapped up in a blanket on her back porch, Sam can't not take in the abandoned pups. Trying to keep them safe, she sometimes has to bring them along to her parents' events, where the frisky pugs cause havoc. Jai, the cute boy whose dad performs at the same events, helps Sam wrangle them.

But when Sam's pug posts go viral online, the dogs become mini celebrities. Then someone comes forward to claim them. Is Sam in danger of losing the dogs she's fallen in love with?

It’s been a while since I’ve read a Middle Grade novel (lately I’ve mostly been reading MG graphic novels) but there is a special place in my heart for the Wish series. All of the books are so cute! This one had the added bonus of adorable pug puppies which made it even better. The story was very sweet as well. I can’t wait to read more of this series.

{My thoughts} – Sam comes home from school one day and sees that the gate to their home is left open. When she walks through she finds a box with two adorable pugs inside laying on a blanket. She isn’t really sure what to do about the pugs at this point, but she does want to keep them. She decides to take them up to her room and hide them from her parents.

I can’t see agree with how she went about trying to keep them, but she did do some things right. She did put out a poster trying to find the owners. However, once her parents know about the dogs they go about correcting everything she did that was wrong. They go about putting up am more suitable poster that has her mom’s phone number on it instead of hers. They go to the store and get everything that they need for the dogs. Eventually the dogs start to become a part of the family. Surprisingly her mom does warm up to them even though she really didn’t want them to begin with.

Sam’s family is major into cooking and it’s what they do and love. Her little brother is a loner and really into his video games. It takes some outside perspective but eventually Sam realizes that her little brother wants to be included in things as much as she is, he even wants to be part owner to the dogs.

Towards the end of the book some girl named Karen shows up at their house. She says she is the owner of the dogs and she gives a story that is less then crazy. It’s one of those it might be true but I highly doubt it kind of things. There is a lot that takes place once this girl shows up, but the thing that I enjoyed reading about the most was how Same and her family all came together -when they needed to most.

I look forward to reading more books about Pugs by this author in the near future. She has a wonderful talent when it comes to writing about middle school crush/animal love.

Sam loves to cook and help her parents with their catering company. When she arrives home from school one day, she discovers two pug puppies on her porch and she believes her wish about having a dog has come true. Her parents insist on trying to find the real owners, but Sam quickly falls in love with the pugs. She dresses them up and takes pictures of them, making them into viral celebrities. It's all she's ever wanted, but will she be able to keep them in the end?

I read this book with my ten-year-old son and we both loved it. It was easy to read and entertaining. There was enough about the pugs to keep my animal loving young reader happy, but it was about Sam dealing with her newfound responsibilities and the issues with her family. I could imagine this as a film for kids. Sweet story.

For me this is a 4.5, took .5 off cause cringe but still good. I know I have to do lots of explaining for my high rating, but pretty much all I’m saying is that it’s cute ok 😭. It’s really the only romance I like and I’m a horror reader at heart so this is really hard to top. I love this book and I recommend this to younger people honestly or people that want a toned down romance. I loved this book when I was younger and I read it so many times. I’ve been reading horror and actually kind of hate romance (maybe cause I can’t find a good one) so that just goes to show how good of a book this is even if it’s meant for a younger audience I’m not apart of. Overall a super cute book I’m excited to re-read!

This book is about a girl named Sam who has begged for a dog to her parents for her whole life. She also loves baking. Her family also likes baking as much as her except for her younger brother Oliver/Ollie. One day, two small pugs are left outside on Sam's porch. She doesn't know who the owner was, but she is determined to find out. Soon, she falls in love with these two pups, not knowing that many problems will come in the future such as the "super cute" Jai that came from Maryland. Sam starts to like this guy and at the same time, she is going through pug drama.

This book was a wonderful book that kept want to keep reading all through the day. I could barely put it down! This book was about a girl named Sam who finds two pugs and wants to keep them so she hides them from her parents. Then her parents find out, try to find the owners, cannot find the owners and then take the pups in. Two months later a girl named Karen shows up at the door claiming that the dogs are hers but gets busted by Sam's Aunt Maddie. They get to keep the dogs afterwards. Also while all of this happened, Sam has been crushing on a boy named Jai and at the end they start dating. This book was awesome and I hope I get to read more of J.J. Howard's books!

Pugs in a Blanket is such a sweet story about a girl named Sam who finds a couple of pugs on her doorstep one day. Sam has always wanted a dog and is very excited to be given the chance to have her own, but it will take some convincing for her mother to let her keep the dogs..IF the true owners don't show up first.
Pugs in a Blanket is a quick read that middle school through high school students will enjoy.

I'm enjoying the books in this Wish Pug miniseries more and more every new one I read. But I'm not completely engaged anyway. This not to say something bad, but I expect a bit more. Yes, these are books for tweens. And in this one there is a bit of a mystery. But nothing too intricate. And the 'frug' plot twist was so obvious in my opinion (but maybe beacuse I am not a tween?). And now to the next.

This book was SOOO good!! In my opinion, it is the best pug book by J.J. Howard even though they are all super good. I couldn't put it down and couldn't wait to see what happened in the end. Thanks so much, J.J. Howard!

Sam comes home from school to fine two pugs in a box on her front doorstep. She knows her mom won’t let her keep them, but she hides them while she tries to find their owner. In the process she falls in love with them and of course so does her little brother Ollie!

This was a really good book with a little mystery behind it also with the fact that two pugs randomly show up on her porch and it had a cute story with it and you can feel how the characters feel too. I really like it when books do that to you so in conclusion, it is a great read!

The book Pugs and A Blanket by J.J. Howard is a book about a girl named Sam who comes home one day and discovers a box with two pugs in it. Sam's mom isn't a dog person, but Sam really wants to keep them. She still doesn't know who put the dogs on her porch. Sam is falling in love with the puppies, but what happens if their owner shows up? I gave this book a 9 out of 10 because I loved the story and all of the twists and turns it took, but it wasn't a perfect book.

If you enjoy books about puppies and how they got their home, then you will love Pugs in a Blanket by J.J Howard.

Sweet and satisfying.
Another great read from J.J. Howard! If you are all at interested in puppies, cooking, friendship, or family, this is a perfect story for you. Howard's books are always flawlessly written with well developed characters and plots that keep you turning pages, and Pugs in a Blanket is no exception. I recommend her books to all of my students, and they can't put them down. This book deals with themes of the importance of family and good friends, as well as why honesty is always the right answer-and there's even a mystery in it on top of all the subtle life lessons! I absolutely loved this book and recommend it to any and everyone.

Pugs. That's kinda what this is all about. Also some cooking involved. And romance. It's not a wish novel if there's no romance. Though the rOmAnCe in this felt rushed. Which isn't a good thing (this is coming from a person who's obsessed with romance animes/books.) Overall, this was decent. Yea...
