Thumbnail - Bad karma -- and a dead friend -- find ex-attorney Tony Kozol involved in a murder at a New Age convention. Struggling to establish himself as a musician, Kozol agrees to play guitar at the request of an old friend, a New Age music guru. But good vibes quickly turn bad when his friend is found murdered at his piano -- putting Kozol on the hunt for a killer. With a sexy devotee by his side, he must escape the clever killer's preparations for Tony's own demise.
My thoughts - This mystery takes place during the height of the New Age movement when the earth tilted and all the nuts rolled to Sedona, AZ. This was a good vibe era, but in this tale, there are dysfunctional characters all over the place at the New Age convention that features crystal skulls somewhat purloined from indigenous people in a remote area in Mexico.
There were segments of this story that I almost enjoyed. However, throughout the book, the main character, Tony Kozul, a currently nonpracticing attorney, repeatedly acts in ways any attorney with half a brain would refrain from. This includes contaminating crime scenes. All in all, I was somewhat entertained at times, but overall disappointed in this book. Therefore, I have to rate it two stars, meaning (according to my rating system) - Near good - less than average.
Ancient Crystal skulls are the draw to new age seminar. Tony is invited to accompany and old time friend who changed his name to Janvilhelm. There's music, psychics, etc. It's a great read. Go get it!
Former lawyer, now a struggling musician and amateur sleuth. With some wacky characters and sly humor. A fun light mystery in Sedona Arizona. 3.5 stars
