There are few who have made a mark on 2018 quite like BTS, the seven member Korean K-Pop group that is singlehandedly reviving the Age of the Boyband with their electric tracks, explosive dance routines and unnervingly perfect hair. BTS may have been catapulted to international acclaim this year, but there’s still a whole world of facts and stories from the six years it took for them to become the first K-Pop act to hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts. Become a fully-fledged ARMY and learn about the members, the songs, and all of the stages along their journey from pre-debut training to global stardom.
while it was informative for a fairly new fan to bts (I discovered them end of June 2018). I did notice some in accuracies in the content of the book, such as saying that Suga and J-Hope are vocalists in the group or referring to love yourself her as love yourself tear. But other then that it was alright.
Of all the BTS fan books I've read recently, this one was the one in need of the most work. There was a lot of inaccurate information and the pictures weren't the greatest (it was like they were given permission to use photos from two events and that's it). The look of the book feels like it was produced on Microsoft word by someone at home.
Chock full of contradictions and errors on the most basic information, particularly pages 22-23. Under vocalists, explains the difference between main, lead, and sub-vocalists, but then lists Jungkook and Jin as vocalists instead of designating Jungkook as the main vocalist. Also, incorrectly lists Suga and J-Hope as lead vocalists and leaves off V and Jimin entirely from the vocal section. J-Hope is a sub-vocalist, not a lead, Jimin is the actual lead vocalist, and Suga is not a vocalist at all. Under dancers- Lists V as a lead dancer but doesn't list Jungkook at all, who has been the actual lead dancer since debut. Grammatical error under that section for main dancers, but got J-Hope and Jimin right. At least the photos are high-quality, but the selection could have been better.
Kind of interesting. Not terribly informative, and it seems to contradict itself in some places. But no one is going to read this book for serious research, so it’s probably fine for what it is. There are more interesting things about BTS that aren’t mentioned here.
I didn’t check this book out from the library to learn anything new, I was just excited to see BTS-related content. That being said, there’s very little to say about this book. It’s short and ok for people who are just starting to listen to BTS. The pictures are great but that’s about it. It’s poorly written in parts and inaccurate in others. You could honestly get more accurate information from Wikipedia.
