Cask & Cream

Rate this book
Wanted to know what happened to Vette from The First Lady's Choice, check out the spinoff. Cask & Cream is a sweet Chocolate Temptation, unique and delicious cream liqueur that combines imported cream liqueur with rich, dark chocolate flavors that define pure indulgence. Diehard workaholic Yvette Devereux and successful businessman Grant O’Hare agree to explore the intense attraction when they meet at a networking event. The powerful verbal foreplay caused the fires to rise. Temptation beckoned them to partake in some serious adult play while off the clock. Neither Yvette nor Grant expected to develop deeper feelings as they chose to focus on business over settling down. The two are faced with extreme disdain and discrimination from people who’d rather see them fail entirely than see them prosper together. Trust issues and stubbornness will force them to end their sexual rendezvous on bad terms. After years of being apart, will Vette and Grant succumb to the negative energy or has time healed the gaping wounds of deception?

The best laid plans of mice and men...

...Will fail with justice due to karma. Elizabeth O'Hara was the wicked witch from hell. She made her son, Grant O'Hara's life just that, along with that of his father. Her controlling greed and selfishness caused him to pull back from her, with any kind of relationship. He refused to be man handled into an arranged marriage to any gold digging trollop of her choosing. Through her lies, scheming and deceit, her nail in her coffin was her attempt to destroy the only woman he'd come to love, Yvette Devereaux, even though he swore he would never fall in love and get married. After being separated from her for a couple of years due to his mother and coheart's scheming, both he and Vette realised they still loved each other and were better together than apart. But her best friend sister and brother Tremaine and Megan welcomed Grant to their make shift family which he gravitated to with open arms since he was an only child.

The author, K.K. Harris wrote a very interesting drama filled love story, about a self proclaimed eternal play boy, who unknowingly fell in love and married. Her tempting chocolate cask mixed with his alluring Irish cream, set the stage for a love affair that would age like a fine wine for a lifetime.

This was my first book read by this author. I thoroughly enjoyed the read and look forward to reading more by this creative writer.

S/o to the author for this freebie. This was my first read from this author and holy shit I was clearly not prepared for what I just read. This was a twisted love story about family, race, class, greed, selfishness and downright deceit. Guess what? I FREAKING LOVED IT!!! Grant wasn’t ready for love or commitment so when he sets his eyes on the sexy and confident Yvette, he thought it would just be a colleagues with benefits situation. Yvette is in love with her business and isn’t looking for anything series. She saw Grant and just knew she had to have him in her bed.Things changed when two people, battling their own insecurities and baggage start to fall hopelessly in love with each other. I loved this book. Grant and Yvette had chemistry that was literally off the charts and I loved to see it. Yvette was literally my shero. She was such a boss ass chick. She was sexy, sassy and confident. She knew what she wanted and didn’t hesitate to go after it. She faced all that was thrown at her head on. This story was an unexpected treat. It spans over a couple of years and will literally take you on a drama filled emotional rollercoaster ride. His mother Elizabeth was a piece of work. She made life a living hell for Grant and when she realIzed that he had a thing for Yvette, she turned her anger towards her. In this story, you will see how people will do unspeakable things just to have money and to be in a certain class. I loved the relationship Yvette had with Megan and Tre. It was one of the many highlights of this book for me. I wish I got to see more of the relationship with Grant and Yvette. They got together and everything was focused on the drama with his mother. I wanted so much more of them. I loved them together. Momma got what her trifling ass deserved though. Overall, this book was just exactly what I needed. Drama. Lust. Good sex. Bad ass - take no shit female. Deceit and good ole Revenge. I will definitely be reading more from this author

Horrible writing and editing makes this a 2 star book! For example, while describing "floor to ceiling windows," the author wrote "flow to ceiling windows." The female lead character is described as just shy of celibate but then meets a guy (Grant) at a party, propositions him, and has an overnight bag in the trunk of her car for impromptu hookups or overnight stays at her office. The female lead, Yvette, and Grant just met and she goes to his house for sex. He invites her to swim in his heated pool and she is concerned that it is too cold to be outside. Grant asked Yvette to trust him and she resists saying, “How can I trust you? I don’t know you.” She apparently trusted this stranger enough to go to his house for a one night stand. What is up with the weird use of “…” to show that a person remained silent or didn't respond?

Instead of "I have 'wrecked' my brain" it should be "racked" or "wracked."

"The fitted bodice flared out at the knees..." Hello, a "bodice" is the part from the neck to the waist, it does not reach the knees. From the waist to the knees is the skirt!

It is "duly noted" not "dually noted." Geez!!!

This book is a hot mess!!

Irish Cream Is So Yummy!

Grant is a strong Alpha type male who just knows he's not ready for love or commitment. So when he sees the beautiful & captivating Yvette he figures it will be a hit it & quit it. Meanwhile Yvette or Vette as she's known by friends is just looking for a moment of pleasure as she's a busy business woman & has no time for a real relationship. Let the fun begin. The chemistry these two share is scorching hot. Yet others behind the scenes try working against these two from jump. So sit down for a spell & enjoy this rollercoaster ride to a HEA. I enjoyed this story with its deceit, intrigue, chaos, heat and sexy cast. Grant and Vette have a lot to overcome in this story and with hidden backstabbing forces it’s a wonder they can stand to be in the same room.

The flow of this story was easy and smooth and made reading it a joy. The supporting characters were a a treat because the enemies rivaled the good that had their back.

I enjoyed this book and think you will as well.

A light hearted story with the evil mother as the villain

The story was very good, I liked the main characters chemistry. They were each other booty call which developed into more but they were both in denial.
The evil mother was just that, pure evil and she thwarted their way to happiness throughout the story.
A beautifully written story which will keep any avid reader entertained.

This book tells Vette's story (Vette is friends with Megan from The First Lady's Choice). Underneath Vette is a softy, but her shell is hard to break, until she met Grant O'Hare. Grant proposes a business deal with Vette and from there is where Vette must decide if she wants to mix business with pleasure. This is truly a beautiful love story.

Twisted...

There was so much drama told, it was amazing! I really enjoyed reading this story, loved the blended families, and the antagonists who received the endings that they deserved.
