LM knows how to bring the emotions and heat to her books. Whatever it Takes is book 2 in the Knights Football series.

Chase and Callie are both commitment phobes and rightfully so after their precious relationships. Their initial meeting is unexpected, fabulous and a one time thing…or so they think.

Callie is a single mom who has created a great life for her and her daughter. She has been hurt ( her ex husband is a loser), isn’t looking for love and will do anything to keep her daughter safe.

Chase is a famous football player and has been hurt/burned by his ex-wife, is trying to get the girl from his one night stand a year ago (Callie) out of his mind but is going about it the wrong way by sleeping with everything!

A chance encounter has Callie and Chase reuniting, the passion is still there but there are secrets holding them back.

I adore both of these characters and their friends. They have great support from their friends and most of their family…but there is evil lurking around them. Their relationship is beautiful and hot! And Emmy, Callies’s daughter, is so sweet, loving and makes this story extra special.

I don't think I have read too many male characters that are this perfectly swoon worthy!! Chase Matthew is the real mvp in everyway!!
Whatever it takes was absolutely brilliant and I was here for every second of it!! A good book to showcase real life struggles and the unexpected beautiful outcome of how everything can work out in the end!

Second chance for a second chance

Chase and Callie's story is difficult. Chase heart is broken when he first meets Callie. Callie is cautious toward men and commitments. So one night and they don't see each other again. Well, at least for a year.

When they collide again things are a little differnt as they were a year ago. Both feel still attracted to each other but don't do relationships. Calli has her reasons therefore while Chase doesn't want to go through his past experience with love again. Like ever.

But when you seem to keep things casual mostly feelings come up, and then? It's run or get caught.

Chase did 180 turn in the year he doesn't see Callie. And Callie still has her reason to avoid nearness as a pleague. But I liked his ability to change without so much trying. And that Callie opens up to him and let him in.

I'm addicted to this series!!!

Whatever It Takes is book #2 in the Knights Football series.

I love Chase and Callie!!!

Chase doesn't do relationships after finding his wife in bed with his teammate and going thru a divorce. Hes not in a good place and goes out drinking. He has an instant connection with the bartender and they spend a night together that Chase doesn't want to end. He wants more than one night, but she disappeared.

One year later, Chase is a playboy and hooks up as much as he can. Until he runs into Callie again. He wants more with her and won't stop until she agrees. But Callie is hiding something that can change everything when Chase finds out.

Chase will have you swooning!!! I love him so much!!! And Callie is sassy and an awesome mom. I cant wait for more in this series!!!

All the heat, all the swoon, put together in a great single Mom, football romance story, this book was fast-paced from the start, the attraction instant, and there was an element of drama but what I loved most about this story was it was just a perfect hot romance, Chase won my heart with his instant love for Callie's 6-year star of the show Emmy, even though single mom Callie didn't tell him right away, my heart broke for Chase and the reason he meets Callie in the first place, but boy did he meet his match in this wonderful, sassy woman.

I absolutely love Callie and Chase. Their chemistry is off the charts. Both have gone through some pretty crappy relationships and are gun shy but what they have is undeniably right. I definitely understand why Callie kept her daughter from Chase, it broke my heart a little bit, but, ultimately Emmy is the most important thing in her life. I love when a book with a professional athlete isn't bogged down with play by plays and sport talk. I feel like it doesn't add anything to the overall narrative unless an injury or something related to the game is a catalyst in the story.

Chase is a professional football player and just went through a divorce. He goes to a bar to get drunk and has a connection with the bartender. Callie had an amazing night with Chase and now they see each other again, a year later. Chase wants Callie and won’t take no for a answer. As Callie and Chase get to know each other, eventually everything get put on the table. Can he handle everything? Are these two meant to be? This was a great quick read with amazing characters. I really loved Chase and his determination. Callie was sassy and independent, which I really enjoyed. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

This is one you are gonna want to read!

This is Grace's second book I have read and though it is not part of a series, it does involve characters from her first book Whatever She's Got. We get Chase and Callie's story this time around. Let me tell you, the Prologue was enough to hook me in.

Chase is in a bad place after divorcing his cheating wife. Callie helps him over that in one incredible night. Chase wanted more but it was as if Callie had just up and disappeared. Fast forward one year, and you would never know Chase was once a one woman man. Fate intervenes and he comes across Callie. What starts as another casual hookup becomes so much more.

This book was the perfect blend of steam, humor and angst. Nothing was drawn out or over the top. The secondary characters not only added to the angst, but some of the sweeter swoon worthy moments. Even though there is character overlap, this book can easily be read as a stand alone. Definitely a must read!

Second Chance Perfection

I picked up this book because the author, the talented L.M. Reid, shared a review where the reader had given up on this story, almost halfway through, calling it all “sex and dominance.” Of course, that made me want to know more. So I ran to KU and downloaded this book. All I can say to that reader is…THANK YOU! This story was SO GOOD!

Now, let me clear up the claims from that review. Yes, there is a lot of great steam in this book. Dominance…not so much. I would call it more like possessiveness. And neither of these things dominated (no pun intended) this book.

Chase and Callie’s story is one of complex emotions - learning to trust, overcoming fear, and allowing your heart to fall in love. Both Chase and Callie have been hurt and once they find each other, they have to navigate their feelings and learn to take risks as they find their way to their HEA. And there are other complicated relationships and outside interference they must contend with.

To the reviewer who led me here, I hope you get as inspired by my review as I was by yours and give this book another chance. To everyone else, Whatever It Takes is definitely worth the read. This was such a great, second chance romance story. I can’t wait to pick up another book by this author.

First meet. One HOT as hell football player drinking to forget a divorce after 14 years with the only person they've ever only been with. One Sassy Bartender. One steamy casual hookup. A year goes by and they have a second chance meet. A secret arrangement. Neither wants a relationship. Friends with benefits. But she's keeping a secret. The sweetest little secret ever. Emmy. Connection is undeniable. Chemistry is 🔥🔥. I honestly love them together. And he's so freaking good with Emmy! I mean get ready to Swoon. Throw in 2 crazy ass exes and you've got an amazing freaking book. Also Chase's growth for me was one of my favorite things... From what we saw of him in WSG to now!!! Callie you tamed the playboy football hottie!! 🙌 which makes me love her even more, cause he was a hot mess!

LM Reid was a new to me author when I signed up for this ARC. After signing up I immediately devoured WSG so that I could start this one. Both Amazing books but this one is my favorite!! 5 ⭐️s for sure!! Can't wait to see who's next!! 😊😊

This is the 2nd book in this series, and this is Chase and Callie’s journey. Chase is a star football player, and team’s playboy, but when he is newly divorced, he goes out to get drunk and meets Callie, who is the bartender. These two have a spicy night, and when Chase wakes up, he is alone, and going back to the bar he finds out that she does not work there anymore. Callie’s focus is solely on being a single mom to her little girl Emma, and her career. Almost a year later Chase and Callie cross paths again when he walks into her office, and the attraction between them is intense. Chase is determined to convince Callie to take a chance on them, but how will he react when he finds out her secret? This is a beautifully written story which has secrets, emotions, off the chart’s chemistry, family, friendships, humor, and love, which leads to an entertaining and compelling page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Chase's divorce took its toll on him while Callie is a single mother doing whatever it takes to make a good life for her daughter so neither are looking for any sort of commitment. The first time they meet, they hook up & it's hot, but she's gone before he wakes up the next morning. Now you would think that he wouldn't care, but there's something about Callie that he couldn't get out of his head. Luckily, fate stepped in, and they came face to face again a year later, and this time Chase isn't about to let her get away. I LOVED these two together, but I'm not going to lie, Callie & her secret actually drove me crazy as it just wasn't that big of deal for as long as she made it so. Whatever It Takes was definitely a page turner as I was flipping them super fast because I wanted to know how it would all play out, and it definitely was no hardship devouring it in one sitting. So yeah, I LOVED this story, and now it's your turn as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Let me tell you, this book starts off spicy with a one-night stand!!!

Chase wants the one thing he can't have.....the blonde that snuck out of his bed leaving only a note behind the year before.....Callie. But independent Callie has her reasons to push Chase away.

🏈 I'm a sucker for a reformed playboy and I LOVE Chase. But Chase was different. He wasn't always a playboy. It wasn't until the night he met Callie, the day his divorce was final that he changed.

🏈 Callie is a single mom to sweet Emmy. Talk about adorable!

This is a fast-paced story with a bit of insta-attraction. It grabbed my attention from the beginning and kept it.

Whatever it takes review!

After reading whatever she's got, I was so excited to read Chase’s story. It's definitely a page turner!

Chase & Callies previous relationships were terrible to say the least.

This book is well written with great character descriptions and details.

Would recommend for sure!

Famous football player, Chase Matthews, and Callie Daniels met and spent one night together with no strings. They were both just coming out of disastrous relationships and neither wanted any commitments. They never expected to see each other again...
Chase spent the next year trying to get Callie out of his mind. After a chance meeting a year later, he is not willing to let her go again.
As a single mother, Callie has no time for anything other than her career and her daughter, Emmy. She has seen what a player Chase is from all the media, and she wants no part of it. Also, she has kept their daughter a secret from him. How will Chase react when her secret is revealed?
Whatever it Takes is part of the Knights Football series written by L.M. Reid, a new-to-me author. It was a fast-paced second chance romance with low angst. Chase and Callie were charming characters and Emmy was too precious. I loved everything about this book and cannot wait to read the others in the series.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Whatever It Takes by L.M. Reid

This is the second book on the series and it is a very good one. It is Chase and Callie's journey and let me tell you oh boy you won’t be able to set it down. Once you get reading book it will be hard for you to set it down. From the moment these two meet the chemistry is off the charts good. They have this amazing hot night after meeting at the bar Callie works at. Chase wakes up to an empty bed and goes looking for her only to find out she no longer works at the bar he met her at. Just when his life has takes quite a different turn a year later when he finds himself in quite the predicament he runs into non other than the one girl he can’t forget. Callie has spent the last year trying to remake her life and make her daughters life better. Trying to keep her daughter happy and safe. Which by the way what a piece of work Ryan is right. Any way these two reconnect but Callie is very reluctant to tell Chase about Emmy. Which was frustrating at times. I really hated Harper and what she did to Chase and how she used Joey. Oh and let’s not forget Chase’s mom that lady ready should have gotten a worst reaction from him and Callie. I enjoyed this book and would recommend you grab this book. Looking forward to what is next.

Knights Football

Chase Matthews found his wife cheating on him with a former teammate and after signing his divorce papers decided to drown his sorrows. He meets a blonde bartender, Callie who helps to get him home and they have a one night stand. After this it's no relationships, just the team party boy.
A year later he walks into POSH to get fitted for his sister's wedding and he runs into Callie. Both are shocked!.
Callie Daniels is Director of Charitable Relations at POSH. She's divorced and has a 5 yr old daughter Emmy. After seeing Chase in the tabloids with different women she felt she was just another one and didn't have the time for him, just her daughter and career.
But Chase feels she is the one that got away and all the women he has been with didn't match up to her. They start spending time together and grow close but Callie has secrets she hasn't told Chase about. Will he run when he finds out?

4 stars
This is a new author for me and I enjoyed the story. The one problem I had was with ages/timeline. He is 29 and was married for 14 yrs. Unless I got that mixed up.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Callie is a single mother and she is totally happy with her life. And she is definitely not looking or have the time for a relationship never mind love... So she was so not ready for Chase Matthews, star football player... Who just walked into her office, the same football player she had a one night stand with a year ago...

The more Chase persue's Callie the more she tries to put distance between them. But she might know one secret that might push him way...

This was such a great read. I haven't read much from this author, but the ones I have was definitely worth the read. This one was exactly that. Chase was to me a total reformed playboy. From the moment he decided he wanted Callie he did everything to make her his. But because both these characters had so much hurt from previous relationships that it took them a moment to get to their happy. This book had chemistry, steam, humor and so much more. You wont be sorry if you a single parent romance fan💖😊

When we met Chase in Whatever She’s Got, we knew he was a player, a new girl in his bed every night, no strings attached. We just never knew why.

Chase Matthews is a divorced football player, who meets the night after signing his divorce, this fiery bartender, Callie. They share one night together and then she disappears.
One year later, he finds her again, working at his best friend’s mom’s business. He wants to pick up where they left of, she needs a little convincing, but when she gives in, it’s just a fling, no attachment. She keeps everything superficial because of this one secret she is carrying.
When both of their pasts come back to haunt them, will they both see they need each other to survive this?

I’m so happy to see how Chase goes from player to being devoted to one girl again. His backstory tells us how hard it is to believe in love again. The way their journey is written is so beautiful: both of them never believing in love again to can’t live without you.

Book 2 in this series and we have Chase who has been burned in the past by his ex-wife, so he isn’t looking for anything serious. Callie is a single mother who has worked hard to build a beautiful life for her and her daughter, but she doesn’t want a relationship or to bring men around her daughter, yet when these two meet their attraction is off the charts. A year ago, they had an intense heated night and even all this time later Chase can never get her out of his mind. With all that has happened to both have their own insecurities and secrets. Can a casual fling become something a lot more? This book was a good one and emotional. The characters and side characters are amazing and I can’t wait to see where we go from here.

ARC COPY REVIEW

single-mama, sports romance, second-chance, steamy, one-night stand

They first met when he was drinking his pain away and she was the bartender that served him. They had a spark that lasted the night and when she leaves him, she leaves her mark. Time passes and both are still missing something in their lives. As a recently divorced mama, Callie has been working her butt off to support her and her daughter while her ex-husband lingers, unfortunately. Chase still the playboy of the team has had his share of women but he can't seem to get the one that got away go. When they reunite he will not let this chance go, no matter what it takes.

Whatever It Takes is a funny, sweet single mom romance that had me swooning over the football hottie Chase Matthews. Chase is trying to drown his sorrows after finalizing his divorce with his high school sweetheart, but when the hot bartender grabs his attention this start to look up. Callie is determined to make a better life for her and her daughter but when she runs into her one stand a year later she can't seem to say no to him. These two had so much chemistry and I love how Chase stepped up into the dad role amazingly. Such a great single mom romance I couldn't put down.

Chase is a professional football player and Callie is a single mother. The two meet at a bar and have a One night stand. One year later they see each other again and the attraction is still there. You can feel the connection between them right away.

I feel like we missed out on seeing the athlete part of this book. We get to read about their time together but not much past that. While we did get shown their relationships with the friends and exes I wish we got to see more. Also, While I understood why Callie didn’t want Chase to be around her daughter, I thought it was strange that she didn’t tell him about her. If this wasn’t serious he wouldn’t care that she was a mom because she wasn’t asking him to be around her.

I personally prefer more drama in my stories so I was a little bored while reading this book but if you were looking for something that’s an easy read with no angst then this book is perfect for you.

Thank you for the ARC!

Chase and Callie's story is a decent read for me. I loved that Chase knew he needs more from Callie. But he can't help but feel like she's keeping something from him. Sometimes, I did find myself frustrated with Callie, especially when she's being stubborn. And I thought Chase deserve to know what she was keeping from him. The first book I read by the author and I quite enjoyed it. But I think it could be better.
