The year 1973 saw the Watergate scandal explode, the Yom Kippur War, The Arab Oil Embargo, Roe vs. Wade, the death of LBJ... and the people of the Buffalo River Country seeing their land and farms lost to the 1972 law making the Arkansas Buffalo River the first National River in America.
Carla Childers is growing to womanhood in the midst of the storms of cultural change ... the Hippie Movement, the Drug Culture, the Sexual Revolution, the Supreme Court decision giving a woman the right to abortion, an energy crisis, and potential world conflict in the Middle East. Join her as she learns to walk the stormy sea of life unforeseen challenges, trials, sorrows, losses and victories.
A very good book about the challenges facing young people in a changing world, I thought it a little on the emotional side, but still a very good read!
