really good read, especially for those people with diabetes or more for children with diabetes. This book successfully illustrates the frustration and the sadness one goes through when they get some sort of a disease.
However, I just had to put the book down because the main character was annoying the crap out of me. Ungrateful child. Her life is basically extended all thanks to her parents (or more like her mom) but she's complaining, shouting and whining about everything. If you don't want the injection? Fine, just die of diabetes. Please. I beg of you. I mean, your parents gave you a FUCKING HORSE for having diabetes. Even when they did nothing wrong to you! They PITIED YOU and gave you a FUCKING HORSE. Oh my god. Still she bitches about it. I admire her mother for living with that shit...
I skimmed through bits and pieces of the book and she starts sharing her injection with the dog...... WHAT? ok, the injection was made for humans, you should probably check with your vet before you give your dog a random medication. Also, sharing a needle means sharing infections.
sigh... I remember the good old days when people would cry out of happyness at the fact that they're alive and someone cares for them.
Anyways, enough with the complaining, the book is a good read for those who wants to feel the pain and agony of someone with a terminal disease.

I just barely remember this book. I remember the female protagonist (she was in her early teens, I think) has diabetes. She is trying to come to terms with her illness. She realizes that her dog has many of the symptoms of diabetes. Instead of taking the dog to the vet, she tests the dog's blood and discovers the dog does have diabetes. Instead of taking the dog to the vet at this point, she starts giving the dog shots of her (the girl's) insulin. Why don't her parents realize the girl is going through the insulin faster than she should have?

I found this book with the help of the What's the Name of That Book???? group. I didn't remember the title or author of the book, but another reader's review made me adequately sure this is the book I was thinking of. Here's the link to the thread
