Back in 2002, Simon “Woody” Wood was dreaming up schemes to get free sneakers. Two weeks later, he was the proud owner of Sneaker Freaker and his life was never the same. From its early roots as a punk-style fanzine to today’s super-slick print and online operations, the fiercely independent publication has documented every collab, custom, limited edition, retro reissue, Quickstrike, Hyperstrike, and Tier Zero sneaker released over the last 15 years.
Woody’s original premise that Sneaker Freaker would be “funny and serious, meaningful and pointless at the same time” has certainly been vindicated in The Ultimate Sneaker Book. With more than 650 pages jam-packed with insider knowledge and his own irreverent observations, the insane historical detail and otaku-level minutiae is beyond obsessive.
Traversing 100 years of history, each chapter paints a rollicking picture of the sneaker industry’s evolution. Air Max, Air Force, Adi Dassler, Converse, Kanye, Dapper Dan, Dee Brown, Michael Jordan, and Yeezy―along with obscure treasures like Troop, Airwalk, and Vision Street Wear―are all exhaustively documented.
This is a definitive source of knowledge. This is... The Ultimate Sneaker Book!
I’ve been obsessed with sneakers in recent years, yet did mot know this book existed till I randomly saw it in a bookstore at a good discount. Quick Google session confirmed the price was good and flip through pages of colorful Air Maxes (by far the superior sneakers on the market, I’ll fight you on it if I need to!) convinced me I need to own this. Not gonna lie, only really interested in the Nike section but I did read up and Adidas, Rebook and Puma also.
My coffee table now proudly hosts a book on Van Gogh, Monet and sneakers and I’m absolutely okay with that. A Stefani coffee table book collection if there ever was one. Oh, and let’s not forget my snow globe. ‘Tis the season after all.
I really enjoyed this book because you get good details and history of the sneaker culture. The author talks about multiple brands and influencers like Kanye, Jordan, and Virgil Abloa. My personal favorite part of the book is the Sb Dunks or start up of Air Jordan. I recommend this book for Hypebeasts or people that want to learn more about sneaker and clothing.
As the title states, this is the ultimate sneaker book. Awesome photos of classic sneakers, as well as historical photos that add context of the times they were first released. Great information, fun to thumb through.

A nice collectors book. I love collecting shoes and books so perfect combo! It's very well constructed, you can feel the quality. I will admit I had different expectations going into it but it's still pleasing to the eye and informational. For clarification this is my first piece of media from sneaker freaker.
