Shelby Brooks is the Summer Omega of whom werewolf Mystics have long prophesied. She and her bonded mate, Kale Copeland, have awakened and discovered who they truly were—and who they must become. Their former world of Alsvoira suffered the wrath of Mareus, the Alpha Prime, and his failed attempt to bring about the Advent through Ascension. Now on Earth, Mareus and his daughter, Athena, are determined to succeed in ushering in the Advent.
Shelby must race against Athena to unlock the keys of Ascension before the Advent destroys all she loves. Her unique bond with Kale may give her an edge as she fights to save her pack and Earth, but Athena has plans for their intensifying relationship. All bonds, even those forged by prophecy and eternal love, can be shattered.
JK Cooper is our pen name. We're a husband-wife writing team that creates paranormal romance and romantic urban fantasy. Thanks for stopping by. Our current project, The Summer Omega Series, launched with book 1, AWAKENING, in January 2018 to high acclaim. K challenged J to write a paranormal romance series with her in 2015. J chuckled at even the thought until he saw the deadly series glint in K's eyes. Thus began the Summer Omega Series, and J has paid for the laugh ever since.
We're raising our 4 daughters in Utah. When not writing about crazy-hot werewolves and the end of the world, we enjoy power sports on land and sea, reading, playing music, and hanging out with our family. Sometimes, we just have to break up sibling spats and count that as "family night." Alas...

Honestly I couldn’t make it through this one. The characters seemed more like 13 year olds than 17 year olds. There were so many long, boring flashes to random people/characters that probably mattered to the plot but I just didn’t care about.
The romance is what really did me in though. These are 17 year olds, and according to the book they make out plenty, but as soon as someone mentions sex Shelby says she is “too young for that stuff”.
Seriously? I’m all about waiting for marriage to have sex, but she’s too young? Have you been in a high school lately? 17 year olds do not feel too young for sex, they wait by choice or because they aren’t in a relationship or they have sex.
So the author is trying to convince me that these 17 year olds are in love and have been for CENTURIES and make out plenty but don’t have an ounce of sexual attraction to each other.
I really tried to like this book, because it has some of my favorite paranormal stuff in it. I really, really tried.
This book would be good for the younger YA audience at least, and anyone who would enjoy reading about high school with witchy mean girls and seniors who act like freshmen. Maybe if you enjoyed high school this is for you.
I just can’t get past the unbelievable relationship between the main characters or the obnoxious flashes to other characters. Sorry.
The school year is getting underway and we're looking forward to more teenage angst... and werewolves. In Ascension, we run headlong into a prophetic legend as it starts to unfold A legend of the Summer Omega, her Ascension, and with it, the burning of the earth, and afterwards, the Tears of Redemption... All of a sudden the trivial concerns of school no longer matter! This book is so much more than a mere coming-of-age, shifter story! With corrupt and greedy forces determined to subvert the true prophecy, it's time to choose sides, but which one, with hunters, werewolves and wiccans joining ranks to fight? You'll have to get the book to find out how it all shakes out! Once again, Kate Reading gives a stellar narration performance. The woman is simply amazing!
I’ve read the first book The Awakening and truly enjoyed it. The second book, Ascension, continues with the story of two teenage wolf shifters. The shifters are being hunted and killed by individuals who do not want the young female character of the story to ascend into a new level of power. The book is fast-paced and I can hardly wait for the third book to come out. I must admit that I stayed up late to finish this book.
Well damn, I got hooked. I gotta be honest - the concept behind this book series didn't really interest me. Werewolves and romance. Nah dawg, I'll pass. But...I love the other books by this author so...what the hell, I can always stop reading/listening to it, right? Nope, from the very beginning of this series I was in. JK Cooper got me. The characters are fun, quirky and relatable. Oh, and there's magic so that's always great!
And Kate Reading is a crazy masterful narrator. Her pacing and emotion bring you into the story - you feel like you are witnessing the scene unfold before you. She never overdoes a scene, always giving just what the scene needs, never more and never less.
Liked it better than the first because it didn’t contain as much of the stuff that annoyed me (or I got used to it...who knows!?) Hoping the series doesn’t try to drag on past three books or I might lose interest per my usual with these types of books
