This is the third book in the Genesis Fleet Series. Jack Campbell is one of my favorite Sci-fi authors. With the invention of faster-than-light jump drives, people are moving father into the galaxy with all the complications that implies.
The book is well written. We have Campbell’s classic space battles. We also have some dilemmas to solve and the usual civilian political infighting. It is fun to learn about Black Jack Geary’s ancestors. I cannot wait for the next edition to come.
I read this as an audiobook downloaded from Audible. The book is nine hours and sixteen minutes. Christian Rummel does an excellent job narrating the book. Rummel is an actor and audiobook narrator. He has narrated all the various Fleet Series.

If you have enjoyed Jack Campbell's other series, Lost Fleet and Beyond the Frontier , and Lost Stars , Genesis Fleet series will feel familiar. The writing style, space opera and military strategy are all here. It is a prequel series. Ascendant is the second book, following Vanguard by three years, and now Triumphant.
The series could be read by those not having read the other series. However, it is rather fun and comforting to be with characters having the last names of those to follow 100 years later. And I like the style so I have read them all. I enjoyed the audio versions as well and have bought some of them.
Triumphant is like a love letter to fans of the series and it filled my heart. It has all those ancestors of characters I know and love from the related series. I loved seeing my favorites from the previous two books and even more of those instrumental in the governing of the newly expanded planets.
The situation is dire. The pirate-like planets who are just taking over all the other planets they can and basically enslaving their people continue from Kosatka to Glenlyon. Well, Kosatka is the home of the Desjani clan and Glenlyon that of the Gearys, so you can guess whose ancestors are involved, along with other favorites like Mele Darcy and Lochan Nakumura.
These are people with character strength , compassion and intelligence. Characters of this exceptional quality are classic in Jack Campbell's works. I do love the space battles and the ground battles. The strategy and technology discussions around the battles is thrilling. I was rooting for my people! I couldn't put this down and read until 3am. There is even some humor! I love these stories.

President Chisholm had the look of someone who couldn't quite believe they'd won the lottery, found the love of their life, and backed up an important file just before their system crashed, all on the same day. "Glenlyon knew we could count on you, Major."

As with all of his work, the story stands on its own while also working as part of the larger whole, and the twin themes of duty and honor are heavily woven throughout.

I didn't hate this book... I read it in a weekend with no problems.
I like the characters, I like the Gearyverse.... but I didn't love this book.
There was some action in it and the ideas behind the story are interesting... but having finished it, I really can't recall there ever being any real action (yes there were fight scenes and a small naval engagement, but no real "action"). By that I mean, things happened but we were the observers of the observers of that action... that was an additional level away from it that it never really felt 'real'.
Moreover, everything worked out too quickly and smoothly. It was too neat and tidy for me.
So, while I didn't hate the book, I do consider it to have been one of those rare weak novels from Mr. Hemry/Campbell.

Jack Campbell is the king (or should I say admiral?) of military sci-fi at the moment and there's a reason for that, despite the flaws in his writing. Space battles. Marine battles. Political shenanigans. He does that stuff so well. But one of the biggest problems I have with his work is his portrayal of female characters - very often veering into Yikes Territory. The past three series were painful in that regard.
But this series has been a marked improvement on that front and many other fronts. It can be silly to follow the exploits of the ancestors of beloved characters, but it was done well and there were moments that made you wonder if these ancestors would actually survive. I think the first two books are slightly better, but this is a fine conclusion(?) to the series.

Another great story from Jack Campbell in his Lost Fleet series of hugely successful military science fiction stories.
Having left Earth to get away from the controlling hands of despots it soon becomes evident that some of the settled planets have their own ideas of assuming power over other planets.

4.25 „Zaginiona Flota” Jacka Campbella to definicja sci-fi, podczas którego nie gubisz się w skomplikowanym świecie, bohaterach, technologii i tym kto z kim walczy, a kto z kim tworzy sojusz. Bardzo żałuję, że to już ostatni tom, bo bardzo polubiłam się ze space operą.
Glenlyon ma problem, jest atakowany przez nieprzyjaciela, a posiada zatrważająco mało niszczycieli, by odeprzeć wroga, a dokładnie posiada jednego niszczyciela. JEDNEGO. Szanse na zwycięstwo są marne, ale można je pomnożyć x100 gdy do akcji wkracza Rob i Darcy. Z pomocą może przyjść Kosatka, która posiada większe możliwości obronne, ale sama zmaga się z walkami z obcymi wojskami i raczej nie zaryzykuje i nie odda broni podczas gdy sama jej potrzebuje.
Ta seria ciekawie prezentuje konsekwencje jakie niesie za sobą opuszczenie Ziemi i stworzenie kolonii w innych układach. Znajdziemy w niej świetne sceny batalistyczne w kosmosie, wiarygodne relacje pomiędzy bohaterami, interesujące elementy nauki i technologii oraz realistyczne strategie wojskowe. Książka świetnie pobudza ciekawość i wyobraźnię. Czego chcieć więcej?

This is the third book in the Genesis Fleet series by Jack Campbell a.k.a. John G. Hemry. This one is set in the universe of the “Lost Fleet” and “Lost Stars” series, but several hundred years earlier. Mankind has several colonies that were founded using sublight starflight and taking many years to get to them. Mankind has now discovered the jump drive and has started fanning out to even further stars, starting settlements on habitable worlds. The original colonies are now known as the "Old Colonies" and many people are leaving them for much the same reasons that they left Earth. But as you’d expect, knowing human nature, some colonists decide it would be easier to concentrate on building fighting ships and raiding other planets than to build up a strong local economy. Robert Geary finds himself on one of the new colonies that has come under attack. Because of his Space Navy background he is asked to find a way to defend his new home. With the help of some new friends he tries to do just that.
In this one Robert Geary has returned to Glenlyon with his ship, the Saber, after helping to defend the planet Kosatka from an attack by ships bent on conquest of that star system. Soon after his return Glenlyon comes under attack and it will once again be up to Robert Geary and his Marine friend Mele Darcy to defend their planet. This time however they face overwhelming odds and their only hope is to hold out until help can arrive from other star systems. Glenlyon and Kosatka have both sent envoys out to try to form an alliance of several star systems and if they are successful they still may not arrive in time to help save the peoples of their worlds. This is another great read in this series.

Well done
I'm a fan of everything Jack Campbell has written and love the lost fleet series so it's no surprise that I tore through this book hanging on every word.
I liked Genesis Fleet more than Lost Stars.
...But that epilogue was a bit cheesy.
Other than that a solid hit for fans of Mr. Campbell.

I really did enjoy this third book in The Genesis Fleet series of military space adventures. Aggressive star systems have banded together to claim more planets by violence. Kosatka has recently survived being attacked. The same enemy action awaits Glenlyon. The enemy fleet is not going to try to take Glenlyon immediately, but is going after their orbital facility. In this way Glenlyon will not be able to come to the aid of Kosatka when the enemy strikes there again.
The battle scenes are depicted in about equal numbers with the political scenes and that made me very happy. That troop of Marines had some huge obstacles to overcome as they tried to protect the orbital facility from mercenary enemy fighters. Plus the space battles were very interesting to read when played out with the author's inventive space jump technology. There are no indications of time in this futuristic world so I got a little confused about when the Epilogue takes place. It reads like it is many years in the future which contributes to my feeling that this may be the final episode in this series. Now that I've read my first novel written by Jack Campbell it's nice to know I have such a large number of previous novels to dive into.

Kinda good, it had some good points but it's not memorable nothing really stood out.

The start of the Alliance
Politics, space battles, and space Marines in battle armor. Also some sneaky "intelligence gathering" with a sniper rifle behind enemy lines. It's got it all.
The same great characters we meet in the two earlier books are here again, doing their best.

Amazing addition to The Genesis Fleet series; the birth of the Alliance along with the politics, strategy, and action is very reminiscent of The Lost Fleet. I usually don't have a lot of time to read with other obligations, but I made time for this novel because the story pulled me in! I felt sad when I got to the end because I wanted it to just keep on going.

September 26, 2022Na 3 tom trylogii Narodziny Floty wyczekiwałam z niecierpliwością. Czytając pierwszy tom, nie sądziłam, że aż tak mi się ona spodoba.
W "Zwycięstwie" autor przedstawia nam kontynuację akcji z poprzedniego tomu. Rob i Mele mają za zadanie obronić planetę Glenlyon. Na Kosatce trochę się uspokoiło, lecz zagrożenie jeszcze nie zostało zażegnane. Dyplomaci wysłani w celu uzyskania pomocy próbują pozyskać sojuszników dla swojej sprawy, czy im się to uda?
Odpowiedzi poznajemy na kartach też powieści, która poziomem nie odstaje od poprzednich tomów.
Przez pierwszą połowę książki średnio mogłam się wkręcić w akcję, lecz jak już między mną a książką zaiskrzyło to nie mogłam oderwać się od lektury 😍Mamy tutaj ponownie militarny klimat i dyplomację, kolejne niebezpieczeństwa, z którymi muszą poradzić sobie dobrze nam już znani bohaterowie.
Uwielbiam Mele i to właśnie jej losu najbardziej mnie ciekawiły ❤️ ta twarda babka jeszcze mnie nie zawiodła i nie zrobiła również tego w tej części. Wypadła wspaniale, dokładnie tak jak oczekiwała.

Mamy tutaj trochę polityki i dużo wojskowości, które nadają intrygującego klimatu. Bohaterowie tych książek są charakterystyczni i łatwo można ich polubić oraz im kibicować. Nie są idealni, mają swoje wady, ale jak dla mnie było to właśnie zaletą 😅 bardzo mi się podobały te charakterne i trudne postaci, z tymi najmocniej się zżyłam i żałuję, że na tym tomie kończą się już ich przygody :/ Mele, Carmen, Rob czy Ninja to bohaterowie, których szczerze polubiłam i za którymi będę tęsknić 💔
Styl autora jest bardzo przystępny, przyjemnie czyta się jego książki. Przez połowę pierwszego i trzeciego tomu trochę trudno było mi się wkręcić w fabułę, ale poza tym byłam naprawdę zaangażowana w losy bohaterów.
Trochę brakowało mi perspektywy przeciwnika. Niestety autor przedstawił wszystko w biało czarnych barwach, jeśli chodzi o sytuację polityczną.
Sceny walk były bardzo absorbujące, ciężko było mi oderwać się od akcji. Moim zdaniem są to naprawdę dobrze napisane fragmenty.

Pirms Džona ‘’Melnā Džeka’’ Gerija spožās karjeras un viņa (pa)zudušās flotes sērijām, bija senči, no kura laika arī nāk viņu atvadīšanās frāze par iepriekšējām paaudzēm un fascinācija par tām, Džona paša attālā radinieka Roberta Gerija vai vienkārši Roba veidolā. Viņa The Genesis Fleet, kā jau sērijas nosaukums saka priekšā vēsta par laiku, kad tāda starpzvaigžņu sistēmu flote, kāda eksistē Melnā Džeka laikā, ir vien savas attīstības pirmsākumos, kad jump-drive tehnoloģija ir vien dažas desmitgades veca un jaunās kolonizētās planētas pie kāda cita negaidītas agresivitātes vēl paļaujas uz cilvēces dzimtās planētas aizsardzību kaut arī distances tagad ir krietni lielākas, kā pirms tam.

A fun, fast paced book that concludes this trilogy. My only issue is that it ends very quickly with some seemingly dropped plotlines with an epilogue that takes place far in the future with no further look into the lives of our heroes. So four stars for the book overall but three stars for the meh ending.

Another entertaining book from Campbell brings the prequel trilogy to an end. Fleet manoeuvres via with marine actions as principled men and women make tough choices despite the self-serving political indecisiveness that underpins all of Campbell’s work.
Campbell drips realism with just enough optimism to make the reader simultaneously despair at the human condition whilst retaining enough feel-good hope to make the experience a positive one.

Jack Campbell delivers another enjoyable read. I'm holding back from giving this a 5 mainly because there isn't anything that standands out as "great" about this book - there is certainly nothing wrong and I really enjoyed it.
"Password - Holo, Countersign Wolf", seems like someones a fan, got a laugh out of this bit.

Six stars!
Hemry has done himself proud in this book. The dialog was appropriate and very amusing without being trite. The ending was a little on the bittersweet side (as was the epilogue), but it wrapped things nice and tidy. And it's fun watching him put together the foundations of what becomes the universe of The Lost Fleet.

Excellent job of maintaining the strength of the characters in this series. The planet Graylion is home to the main characters, under attack from a consortium of star systems who simply want to dominate all this area of space. Most of the world's involved are relatively new settlements with just a few cities and small armed forces. As attacks spread to neighboring worlds, assistance is requested from close systems who see it is just a matter of time before they are cut off and attacked. Alliances are formed, lots of distrusr, as each tried to figure out cooperation without loss of independence. The politics are revolting but ring true. You feel the desperation and exhaustion of the marines, the resolution of the people involved to do their duty no matter what. Just a little bit slower than book one but still very good. Will continue reading this series.

The story was fast paced and chocked full of action and suspense. A space war that places our favorite characters in the crossfire. They must win, or everything will be lost. At every turn, Carmen Ochoa has to make some difficult decisions. Decisions that could save her planet or doom it. The marines fight a heroic battle, making one last stand that could end it all.

Third and probably final book in the Genesis Fleet series. Kosatka is still fighting off the remnants of an invasion, and Glenlyon is facing a new one. Both are attempting to get help from neighboring planets. But even if an alliance can be formed, will help come in time?

A interesting ending for Rob, Mele and Carman as they fight and as the title suggests end up being triumphant. Great space opera with enough battles those who love military science fiction. I enjoyed meeting the ancestors of Black Jack and his wife. The book came to a satisfying ending that includes the start of the alliance and the fear of those with a corporate backing who hav gone further out from earth.
