Both Sides of the Law

Rate this book
He shared his father’s dream of becoming a detective.
A prison sentence was not part of the plan.

Casper Halliday’s dream began to unravel two months before his sixteenth birthday. His father, Bobby, resigned from the NYPD after fifteen years without an explanation. Casper’s parents fought. Sirens closed in on their home from every direction. The sound that had always been a source of comfort now brought only humiliation. Bobby Halliday moved out.

Casper’s dream dissolved into a daily fight for survival. All he wanted now was to finish high school so he could ease his mother’s burden.
On his seventeenth birthday, in the throes of depression, Casper made a bad decision. That decision brought him face-to-face with one of the most dangerous men in the city.

In Casper’s world, there is laughter and there are tears.
There is light and there is bitter darkness.
There are improbable friends and unspeakable enemies.

The Casper Halliday NYPD Series launches with the most unlikely of beginnings.

Brilliant Origin Story

Starts a little slow, but soon develops into some fascinating story-telling. Excellent group dynamic well underway and well- fleshed-out characters. Can't wait for the sequel.

First book of this author I have read . Very interesting with a few chuckles in from the little boy Cody. Caspers dad used to be a cop but made a stupid mistake and lost his job. His mom struggled Casper wanted to get something special for his mom. But he also made a simple stupid mistake also but it turned in to a much bigger problem for him. In jail he meet Sonny Cheng a older man who taught Casper martial arts. Once out of jail he signed up to join the police academy but he still was on 19 yrs old. Things happen fast for him then.

Great cop story!

I really enjoyed reading Nathan Rodan's book 1 of the Casper Halliday NYPD series! There were so many big & little twists woven into Both Sides of The Law.
So realistically portraying "a hero's" life...that of a person who listens to his inner voice to go after the bad guys, earns respect quietly throughout the entire book & even pulls ones heatstrings and taking a break to colors pictures with a little boy & find a way to play Santa to his mom.

Book 1

I have been reading another series and waiting for next book. I found this one, and it had me fully engrossed immediately. Couldn't put it down. The writing - perfect. Character development - excellent. The people are so, well, real. Excellent read! TEN stars; highly recommend.

Rated G ~ for General Audiences

This book has a basically good storyline. But it reads like it was written for readers of all ages, even school kids. Which is just fine if you enjoy "easy reading". I prefer books to be more thought provoking, more action, more twists and turns.

Great beginning

This is such a great book. Casper starts off on the wrong side and then has a tough time creating a moral code that will take him down his chosen path. Lots of action and intrigue. I can't wait to join Casper in the next stage of his life.

Great police thriller

This story kept you on your toes until the end. Lots of intrigue and suspense. The main character Casper was quite complex. Loved the romantic theme between Blair and Casper. Can't wait to read the next book and see what happens between them.
