Good Read

Quick easy read, fun stories, and the information he gives while in short supply, is quality over quantity. The writer makes a few points and continues to find ways to hammer it home countless times throughout the book. Never lost interest or felt like I had to force myself through a chapter, unlike some other whitetail books. Most of all I like the positivity and realistic expectations while hunting public land.

I learned most of these things in other books, articles, and just being out in the woods but the writer gets it all across very humbly and in a very short book.

I thought it was great! It was an appropriate length, gave actionable and immediately applicable advice, and had a positive and helpful tone throughout. That last part becomes increasingly difficult when an author is writing about his career and is tempted to let all the jadedness show.

It would have benefitted from images of topo maps and the author's of where he would start out hunting. That's the reality public land hunters encounter every time they go to a new area, and the book is made less effective because of that omission.

Down to earth philosophy

Lots of good info for those of us that weren’t born into hunting land or can’t drop $200K on a 40 of our own to manicure. Some authors and media personalities tote the greatness of public land but then go on to hunt 95% of their time on human made deer farms.

If you're wanting to get into bowhunting, this is a fantastic and informative read. While it was super helpful in understanding the dynamics of hunting on public land, I thought it went beyond and that many of the concepts were applicable to hunting privately as well. Would certainly recommend this to anyone getting into it!

Entertaining and informative

Definitely recommend this book for anyone considering getting into bow hunting. The author gives a very realistic play by play of what bops hunting is actually like, and does so in a way that doesn’t put you to sleep. Well done.
