In this work, Mitchell brings to a conclusion his study of Cicero's political life and thought begun in Cicero, the Ascending Years. This book spans the last 20 years of Cicero's life, from the end of his consulship in 63 BC to his death in 43 BC.
3rd book on Cicero. Read after Neal Wood's book on the chronological order of publishing time; summarized much of Wood's content well. Revealed the mixed character of Cicero well - showing his struggling being a firm Republican, while being protected by Pompey & Caesar (the dictators). Definitely reading more on the Roman Republic!
