As someone who loves to cook and bake, I enjoyed all of the many recipes dispersed throughout the book, though if I am being honest, there was only one that I actually copied down to make myself sometime. Also, I felt like some of the recipes did not match up properly with the time (60's and 70's) as some were much more modern and used ingredients that were not really readily available to shoppers until more recent times.
I liked the format of the book. I do enjoy stories written through letters or emails or journal entries. It's a fun and different way of reading a story that I think often makes the read go much quicker as well.
There were other parts of the book did that not match up with the time period, which makes me annoyed. I dislike when this happens in stories. If you are authoring a book, it is so imperative to have your information correct (I would think there would be fact-checkers for this as well, but I may be mistaken).
There was a surprise twist in the book which I did enjoy. I didn't see it coming, and I liked that I didn't figure it out before it was revealed.
Lastly, the ending pieces happened very fast. In the last few pages, so much occurred, and I felt that it needed to be spread out and detailed a bit more.
Overall, an easy read that had its moments, but not one I would recommend.
What an interesting style of writing?!? 2 young girls writing letters in there younger years and then moving with the times by sending emails as they are older ladies. Sharing recipes that somehow revolve around what is happening in their lives. It was an interesting read, just felt drawn out a tad and the twist was… expected?
