The Heads That Rolled, the fifth book in the Nefarious series, is dark steampunk at its best.
It takes the reader back in time to the French Revolution and its bloody history.
This new and unique take on vampire lore follows Samuel Quartermaine as he falls victim to the family curse, and his father's betrayal.
Expertly penned, this instalment is a fantastic and immersive story that is deep, dark and enthralling.
Captivating and full of suspense, this gripping tale with a sense of realism is a difficult book to put down once begun.
The characters are rich and well developed, and the tension holds for quite a while as the reader follows along with them as the story unfolds.
Once again Moncrief does not disappoint. Recommended!
Gifted with a copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

This is full of great backstory for the series. Short but a wonderful addition to the tale.
