The one guy I can't stand on campus is now my roommate for senior year.Carter Prescott is one of those guys who has it all.Wealthy family…check.Good looks…check.Brains to match all that brawn…check. And let’s not even talk about all those sculpted muscles (no—seriously, I don’t want to talk about them). The guy works out like it’s his job. Did I mention that he’s one of this year’s top NFL draft picks?Sure, maybe in the beginning I was taken in by his pretty face and gorgeous body. What girl with a beating pulse wouldn’t be? But his obnoxious presence killed any attraction I might have felt a long time ago.All right, fine…that’s not altogether true. The guy is smoking hot, okay? There, I admitted it.Sheesh.But that doesn’t mean he’s not a conceited jerk. Carter is my cousin’s best friend, and thanks to the fugue state I must have been in when I agreed to this living arrangement, he’s my roommate for senior year. Everything would be fine if he would just stop messing with me. But he’s incapable of restraining himself. So, when he takes his antics too far, who can blame me for retaliating in kind? Carter wants to bring a hookup back to the apartment for the night?Fine by me.Is there any real harm done if I ambush them in the morning and introduce myself as his baby mama? Am I taking things too far if I whip up a batch of laxative laced brownies so he’ll crap himself all over the field?Nope, I don’t think so…The real question is how I’m going to make it through eight more months without slowly wrapping my fingers around his... throat and squeezing tight.I’m sorry, did you think I was going to say something else? Please, as if that would happen…

Another winner. Love to Hate You is my first read by Miss Sucevic and I am berathing myself of skipping her books so many times. Another NA sport romance although the sport is downplayed.
The comedy in the story is really good. Plus there is some sweet and vulnerable moment that makes the whole story delicious. Carter and Daisy has the best chemistry. They are combustable together.
I read a few of Jennifer Sucevic's books with college athletes. What I have come to conclude is that the books themselves are entertaining, well written and always have a HEA.
However, I found that every hero suffers the same MO. Popularity, "panty-dropping looks", cockiness, and manwhore tendencies. Nearly every book starts with the same rundown about the heroes and their exploits. woman throwing themselves at their feet, willing to service them in whatever way... EACH BOOK had this.
The heroines and the plots varied more, however. So there was some variety of situations. But always with heroines recapping shit with their roommate or besties.
In this one, the hero harbours a secret crush on the heroine who is not only his roommate but his best friend's cousin. So it's a no go zone, but he can't help but cock block all her dates and pull her pigtails, so to speak. She, in return, stomps around aggravated and hating on him (waaaay too much, I might add). Misguided attraction and pranks eventually go too far and a truce is in order. Things develop from there. He discovers that she self-assured catch and she discovers that he is not in any way the person she thought he was. It was sweet. It was endearing. It was what it was.
If you are into the college sport star romances, then these books are for you.
For me, these books bleed run of the mill themes and situations.
Furthermore, I felt as though I read this very book, but by another author.
Carter is gorgeous, talented and a magnet for any female within a panty dropping vicinity. And he's the first to admit that he's enjoyed all the perks that come with being a potential player for the NFL. He's best friends with Noah and they've moved in with Daisy, Noah's cousin.
Carter knew from day one this was going to be a mistake. He's wanted Daisy since her freshman year, but there's no way he's good enough for her-and that's assuming he would survive the wrath of Noah!
Daisy thinks Carter's hot, but he's arrogant and cocky. He pulls one too many pranks on her when he cockblocks her night when she's just about to get busy with a date. Carter comes strutting thru the living room with a pair of tight briefs with roosters all over them. (I've got quite the visual in my head for that scene!) Needless to say, the date ended quickly.
Daisy seeks revenge...you just know at some point they are going to get together....but there are more than a few angsty moments that derail our couple's HEA.
I love this author's work and Love to Hate You does not disappoint!
This follows Daisy and Carter. Daisy is a Graphic Arts Major moving in with her cousin Noah for the next year while attending college. Noah also lives with his best friend Carter who loves the NFL and will be potentially drafted next year. Daisy and Carter don’t see eye to eye. They push each other's buttons and try to resist each other but the walls come tumbling down and they fall hard and fast. Can they keep this secret for too long?
I enjoyed this read and the audiobook is great. I found Carter sweet and crushing on Daisy hard. The plot was great too and Daisy loved to push Carter. Also had some really good funny moments. I wanted the enemies-to-lovers tension a bit longer though because I loved the competitive dynamic between them both. Also, the third-act breakup was very late in the book so making up was quite quick for my liking.

Although interesting, football star, Logan should have had his father arrested; borrowed some money from Noah's parents and moved his mother out of there; and then run to the nearest psychologist as soon as possible.
Because until he does, there's no future for him and Daisy. The one and only thing I agree with Logan is, that Daisy absolutely deserves better! And so does he!
I would give this another star if the ending wasn’t so quick and left me with many questions… 1. No follow up on H family life 2. What about Noah, is he back with Ashley or 3. Where’s Olivia’s book? What happened to her story?
2⭐️’s - this book was more on the stereotypical side of books, which I normally enjoy between very heavily emotional/psychological series’, BUT….. (spoiler/non-spoiler ahead):
…but I have to admit that the FMC’s interactions with her BFF about her virginity verged on predatory/bullying. It gave me the ICK!
In what world is it ok for anyone to have an opinion on someone else’s sexuality? It’s ok for someone to hold more value on their v-card than most. And for the amount of BS the FMC was spewing during the scene (about halfway through) about graduating with her v-card… I was getting pissed. If I was around during that convo, I’d have stood up for the BFF throwing back in the FMC’s face the lack of respect she has for herself on her sexual past if she wants to get into it… bc it was all uncalled for.
FMC seemed like a shitty friend, TBH. While I give leeway on mental shit and going through it, taking it out on your friends and not apologizing is NOT ok.
Pretty sure Carter and Daisy are my fave couple of Jennifer’s. This story was so good and I loved everything about Daisy. I love that she didn’t just sit around waiting for Carter. She was so fierce and unapologetically herself.
Carter…so drool worthy and when he steps up dang he steps up and doesn’t let Daisy doubt what she means to him. Such a funny and really good story!
I never get tired reading college, sports romance. There's just something about it.
Ryder and Juliet are all you'd want in a college, sports romance. Their banter... the push and pull.. the angst, the frustration, the jealousy... it has everything!
I enjoyed the book from start to finish. It was light, sweet, sexy and swoony.
This book was such an amazing read! I love the enemies to lovers trope so this was the perfect book for me! The underlying attraction between Daisy and Carter is so strong it’s palpable from the pages but so is their mutual distaste for one another. They both know how to get under the others’ skin and irritate them. Some of the situations they found themselves in were so hilarious! I was literally crying I was laughing so hard! Two words…laxative brownies! At the same time this book also had some heavy moments. Both Carter and Daisy don’t have the ideal family life. And while Carter tries to live his life for the future and as a better man than his father, the past just keeps popping back into his focus! Once they both discover they have more in common than they thought their connection grows stronger! This book has all the elements of a great read, filled with laughs and swoon worthy moments!
I did not mind reading this book, it was not the best read but tolerable enough to finish it. The female and male lead are well developed as well as the secondary characters in the story. I was surprised of Noah reaction; to side with Carter when the two lead in the story informed him that they were an item. Carter has his own demons to fight and one of them is his father. He believes that he is abusive as his father. I would like to know more about Noah and Olivia. I felt as the author towards the end rushed to finish the book. The story flow well. The female and male character are easy to like.
Let me begin with this: I HATE duel POV between two love interests. Listen. Just listen, Linda, listen. The problem with duel POV in romance is you literally have to re-visit every scene between said love interests twice. The story takes a step back after every step forward.
And where's the mystery? It's SO BORING when you know how both love interests feel about each other and then it's TIRING waiting for them to admit it. I don't feel the thrill and excitement with the heroine when I know what's going on in the hero's head. I just feel frustrated.
It seems like every contemporary NA romance is duel POV. I'm about to abandon NA in general because I swear if you've read one you've read them all. Is there any originality in this genre? Does it exist? (Apart from The Hating Game which was pleasantly surprising and fun.)
Rant aside, this book had some good qualities. The writing was decent, the heroine's voice was comical and fun, the hero had a distinctive POV - even if I hate duel POV. At least he sounded like a guy. But this book lacked meat. It was pretty short and didn't have much depth. Outside of the hero and heroine interactions, not much happened.
I get it, it's romance. But there should still be STUFF GOING ON. They're in college. The hero is a college athlete said to go to the NFL. (Of course) Where's the parties? Going to the bars? Doing homework? Taking a test? Football games and practices? I mean...there was just so little college setting that I wonder why it was even taking place in college to begin with. There was just no plot. Even if it's romance, I want a plot. The romance should happen AROUND the plot.
There were also threads that just...got dropped. There's mentioning of Noah and Olivia's feelings for one another, but nothing happens with that. There's a hoopla when the heroine's mom comes to visit, and she says she's staying close by at the hotel, only to never be mentioned again. And what happened with Carter's parents? It's like the author just forgot about certain plot points that she started. Which would be fine, if this was a dualogy or trilogy, but it seems like it's a stand alone.
I can't say this wasn't a quick light read. It was. And like I said, the writing was actually fun to read and I did laugh many times. But it just felt like a draft, like it wasn't finished and needed more substance.
Both of the main characters have complicated family backgrounds, but Carter has a lot to work through in his own mind so that he can allow himself to finally be with Daisy. The significant and lasting effects of witnessing abuse in the home are realistically portrayed in his self-doubt despite his success as well as his high-achieving, attempting to prove that he is worth something and not worthless as his dad has always told him. He's lucky to be surrounded by good people who help him to see himself as they see him.
I thought Daisy's family might figure more prominently in the book, but after her mom makes a surprise visit she disappears from the storyline entirely. I think Daisy realizes her past relationships have been short because of the effect of her parents' relationships but the connection isn't as strong and not as much of a focus. It might have been nice to pull this thread through to the end so that her mom didn't just abruptly disappear from the book. However, Carter's perspective was explored in more depth, which was satisfying and ultimately significant for their relationship.
Would like to see a future book with Noah and Olivia.
He gets to fuck around while cock blocking her the whole time ^^^ nope - misogyny at its finest and I can't fathom rating this higher for it's sexist double standard
I really disliked Carter from the start and couldn't change my view of him being the immature and holier than thou asshat we see at the beginning Might not be implicitly stated but when a man cock blocks a woman yet sleeps around, he himself is a misogynistic, sexist asshole - it's to the core of who he is - and him thinking he is right in doing so backs that up. Not a hero I want to read about or swoon over
Every time she tries to exact revenge it's something petty and stupid and not even up to the shit he puts her through
Like, kudos for telling a hookup he may have STDs and that you might be a baby mama but he already got laid. Probably should have pulled that before. Not after. But the king of hookups and no repeats it was irrelevant for her to do it after. She literally did him a favor - for a guy with no repeats that's a easy out!!
And, yet -- Another example of the double standard. He can sleep around but she can't
This book will have you laughing as often as you swoon.
The interactions between these two are hilarious while they figure out the future. I was cracking up!
Carter and Daisy have known each other for years while students together at college. Carter has always roomed with Daisy’s cousin Noah who is more like a brother to her. Of course this means that Carter has always been unwilling to act on his attraction to her because of bro code. Daisy has always thought he was hot, but she assumed he didn’t like her because of his behavior. With time they develop some pretty extreme animosity as they both fight their feelings for each other.
Overall, I loved it! I’m glad that through their years at college he wasn’t the only one who was sexually active with other people. So many times he’s a player who has to be reformed. It was nice to see that she was dating too.
While there is a third act breakup, it wasn’t awful to understand the reasons behind it when you get right down to it, so I’ll forgive this one!
Daisy lives with her cousin and his teammate/best friend, Carter. Daisy and Carter do NOT get along in any way, shape or fashion. They're always battling but take it to the next level when she acts like his baby mama one morning when his overnight guest emerges from his room followed by him keeping that ruse going when they're in class and he suggests his baby mama sit next to him during the lecture. After more back and forth, they decide to call a truce.
Through calling their truce, the two get to know each other better. Before it's always been a more surface level knowledge of who the other person is but now they're learning deeper stuff. Carter still keeps his family issues quiet until something big happens and he has no other choice but to take Daisy back to his parent's house to intervene. That's when she learns more about him and sees that she's overlooked a lot of the obvious signs. Obvious to her when looking back but in reality, she was justified in believing as she had before.
Beware, those who don't like cliches and are looking for something that's not been done before in the NA romance genre, this is not for you.
Yes, this book is filled with cliches. No, it didn't bother me. It was exactly what I was looking for, a steamy sports romance with a hate-to-love relationship. It's trashy and not for everyone. But for those that enjoy that sort of thing, and are looking for a good/ok one, I would recommend it.
The portrayal of some people in this book isn't the best, but it's not trying to do anything other than be a sexy NA romance, which I really appreciate.
I thought how the female love interest handled the climax of this story to be mature, and I never felt a desire to roll my eyes at how she reacted. I really appreciate that the author was able to create mature characters that still have flaws, and are able to have fun.
This book had so much potential!! Whilst I did enjoy the read, it fell flat in many areas.
So I loved the pranks our two main characters played on each other, I think this is what made the book for me. The banter was absolutely hilarious and then it just stopped after only a couple of pranks, this could have got on longer in my opinion, instead they quickly got together but then broke things off because it wouldn't be for the best.
The heroine was a whiney, self absorbed person who had two different personalities. One minute she was heartbroken after what Carter did and the next she was going on a date and taking the guy back to her place.
I hated Noah and after the things he said about his own cousin Daisy, well that was it for me. Double standards coming out of my ears with this, apparently man whore Carter deserves better than serial dater Daisy? Make that make sense.
I enjoyed the story but I liked Carter better than Daisy... She has a bit of an evil streak (witness the brownie incident that we never saw her properly groveling for on the page, it's just reported briefly that she apologized) and I didn't like the way she talked about her friend's virginity.
One of the reasons Carter gives for avoiding a relationship with Daisy is that her cousin Noah would be mad, and this trope is a bit misogynistic to me... it's not the 13th century anymore, why would it be a male cousin's job to decide whether a woman can date a guy or not?? Ughh... Noah didn't ask for Daisy's permission before dating Ashley. So why does he have the right to veto anyone for Daisy? (That's a trick question. He hasn't.)
But I liked the way Noah turned it around when he warns Daisy about hurting Carter instead.
Liking someone is easy. Making someone hate you takes work. Carter does everything possible to make Daisy hate him as much as possible even though he wants her more than anything else. The reasons why lie in the story which you will need to read to uncover. What I will say is that Jennifer has written at times a tense, funny and tender story. The story is always moving forward in a natural progression even if you may not like where it goes. I like Daisy and Carter separately and together. They are two strong personalities.
This ia a combination of tropes: enemies to lovers, close proximity, cousin's best friend and sports romance. It is a quick read and very enjoyable. I consider this a spicy romance.
