This book follows his family as they make their way out of the deadly Underworld where they will discover Hope hiding in the darkest of nights, a daughter who saves his life and a man on a desperate quest for redemption.
This book helped me finally make a breakthrough with my trauma and gave me the confidence/courage to stand up for myself as a survivor. Thank you Nathan, I couldn’t have done it without you!
This is probably the best book i have read, what a story, the truth, the love, the pain, the tourture. Why would a family do that to a baby boy & set him on course to death. For Greed, Power & Ego. A must read. Very relevant today as it reveals the connections to events happening now. I am an Aussie, so not really familiar with the bridge & places he speaks about in the desert. God Bless Nathan & Family.
Absolutely unbelievable what this man has lived through. The world still turns a blind eye to the evil that is happening in this world. Thank you for sharing your story with the world. Keep up your great work Nathan. God bless you and your family.
I was really touched while reading the book and want to thank the author for his transparency and boldness. I’m so sorry for what he has endured. The Lord has done a beautiful work of healing and redemption. He is truly turning what the enemy meant for evil for the good of Nathan’s family and the many lives he is inspiring.
This book is a true story that is very well written and engaging from the author’s perspective. He has done an amazing job at weaving the testimony of Jesus’s work in his life and family with what will bring the reader revelation and inspiration. To get an even more personal touch from the author, listen to the audiobook version as his heart is poured out during the recordings.
I am also an author and minister, and have seen many elements of what Nathan describes first hand. This book has already helped my family personally, and I believe that it has equipped us to better help others.
Nathan Reynolds is an incredibly courageous man of God. I’m so thankful he wrote this book to give us a glimpse into his horrifying childhood. His writing style is very engaging and I’ve already gone back to certain chapters speaking of how to battle the spiritual realm. He challenges and inspires but most importantly points us to our God again and again. I’m now emboldened to strap on the full armor of God and go to battle! Thank you for writing this book, Nathan!
I really wanted to love this book. After watching Nathan Reynolds' gripping interview on The Confessionals, I had high hopes — the story he tells is intense, raw, and deeply personal. Unfortunately, the audio version didn’t do it justice for me.
The content itself is undeniably powerful. Reynolds has lived through things most of us can’t imagine, and he shares his experiences with courage and conviction. But the way it was presented in the audiobook felt disjointed and at times hard to follow. The narration lacked the polish I was hoping for, and it made it difficult to stay engaged with such an important story.
Maybe this is one of those books that’s just better read than heard. I’m still glad I listened, but I think reading the print version might have given me a clearer picture of his journey.
This book is a mixed bag. It's an important story and I applaud the author for having the courage and fortitude to write it. There were several eye-opening things discussed that everyone needs to know about, specifically the bloodline families and the undercurrent of evil and corruption through all facets of society- from local churches and schools to the highest levels of government and business.
That's why Reynold's story is worth your time.
Unfortunately as a work of literature, it suffers from lack of a quality editor. I went in having heard Nathan's story on a couple of podcasts and my hope was that the book would fill in the gaps of his story in a concise, narrative manner:
This is what happens in the world -> This is what happened to me -> This is how I got out of it -> This is what we all need to do about it.
Instead, the reader gets a series of disjointed and non-specific glimpses into the horrors of that world. There isn't much in this book about the inner workings of the "Families" that isn't discussed in greater detail in his interviews, and at least 70% of the book is about his spiritual journey and personal doctrine, which I can appreciate as a Christ follower, but doesn't inform us about the things we don't already know.
Another problem is his use of flowery, overly complicated language that also distracts from the facts we're trying to learn about. For example:
"The devastation of my first kill shattered my soul and into that space came with it a seemingly beautiful yet vexingly lurid entity, which never needs to be named."
or
"My identity did not abide in the sickeningly stained robes I'd been made to wear; it was not held in my Handlers' Black Book. My identity was knit together with the Resurrected King and the scars, which pierced His heart."
I could literally find several lines like this on every page. A good editor would have scaled it way back.
Again, I'm not trying to trash the author in what was clearly a difficult book to write. I think his story needs to be told, and I hope he will write another book with a more straightforward narrative using simple language. This tale deserves a clearer telling.
Nathan, Thank you for your testimony and sharing your love for Jesus Christ. I will not review the book in the traditional sense however, I will provide a Holy Spirit filled commentary. Nathan's testimony and commitment towards his walk on the narrow path, will insight and ignite a soul winning mindset. Not to just engage the enemy but to be committed to the great commission of sharing the gospel that there is no more standing room for those in the grove or alley to hide in wait. Those that have bound themselves to the evil one will all acknowledge by their own tongue and bend their knees. Fear no man for Jesus is our King of Kings, kinsman redeemer. The Holy Spirit spoke to me and said " Learn by faith, know by obedience ". So I am doing just that and it appears that we have many things in common. I pray the Blood of Jesus over my brother and ask for a hedge of protection for his life and family.
I loved this book. I use the prayers in the back of this book daily while I attempt to make up for a lifetime of slumber lived in base consciousness and sin. It probably speaks to my still low level of conscious that I wanted the horror stories that fill some of the other books written by ex mind kontrol slaves. But since I don’t stare at screens or follow sports ball anymore, I read a lot of heady books and I tend to devour the macabre non-fiction that is our reality. I feel betrayed and tricked by Hollywood, TV, Rock and Roll, Social and every other bread and circus distraction thrown at everyone from cradle to coffin to keep us subdued, entertained and dumbed down by design. Like Neo in the Matrix, I always knew something was off, so I would rebel by following Jerry Garcia, taking entheogen and dancing. Today I read books often by or about the sorcerers who continue to betray humanity with their dog and pony shows like the Oscars, Super Bowl, or divide and conquer us all with invidious distinctions in every facet of life from race to religion and politics.
I really wanted to like this book. I came here also from his gripping interview on The Confessionals podcast, which actually gave much more information and was straight to the point. This book rambles and has many typos and random capitalization that an editor could've greatly helped. I am not at all trying to slam the author - I really think he story needs to be told! But people will be turned off by the writing style that includes a very flowery and poetic nature that is hard to understand.
The last straw for me was the chapter on the failures of today's church - not that in itself but the idea that he argues for that Christians need to become Jews once we are saved - including following all their traditions. This is the OPPOSITE of the gospel and not something I can get behind.
I really wanted to finish this book but I just could not. The book rambled, and he jumped all over the place chronologically. Also, it feels like he's a pastor delivering a sermon, and as a nonreligious but very spiritual person, I am unable to read such a book. He does have a good story to tell but I recommend listening to his interviews and not reading this book. Luckily I can get a refund for this book on Amazon.
Profound, hard, inspiring— this book is a rallying cry to acknowledge the darkness and contend against it. As other reviewers have noted, he uses dramatic, sometimes overly-flowery language, and the plot is disjointed. However the message is important, his story is authentic and engaging, and his spiritual journey is relevant for anyone. I enjoyed hearing the author read it, but I recommend listening at 1.5x speed.
This book was difficult to both read and grasp as a too frequent reality for many. I began my dive with a healthy dose of skepticism but listened to a podcast Nathan was on and became a believer in his credibility. I don’t agree with all of his conclusions but fully believe that his experiences were as he describes.
It is very rare that am I blown away by a book. This book genuinely renewed my faith and gave me hope that God can redeem any story. This is a devastating memoir of deep trauma, suffering and forgiveness. Nathan shines light into a world not many ever see or hear about. May God protect all who speak the truth.
Amidst the pain and tragedy of his story is the shining glory of the Messiah Yeshua! I literally couldn't put it down. Not only is the story compelling, but it is so well written with such passion and devotion to our Lord. I highly recommend it!
I want to give it five stars… I believe without a doubt that such atrocities are happening in our world, but I listened to several interviews with Nathan Reynolds and some of his thoughts come across as bitterness more than truth so I’m giving it 4 stars until he offers more consistent proof
Amazing, insightful, heartbreaking, encouraging. Best summer read, especially during this time when a lot of truth is coming out and those in charge keep trying to hide the truth.
