I did finally manage to read a whole book this week, so maybe the curse is broken now. A bit of magic and extremely poetic writing by K.L. Noone did the trick.
What a strange book ... the plot involves just one magic-soaked evening where Daniel and Sterling get close, so very little plot, but very fulfilling nonetheless.
He had a magician—a psychic, at least—in his living room. On his sofa. Conjuring light and casually talking about spirits and supernatural battle-wounds. And magic was real. It was all real. 💞🤗💞
Very insta-ish logically, but it felt good. Humorous and puzzling. The writing style is really hardcore poetry though. It suits this story and the characters extremely well, but you have to like it, I think, otherwise you should stay away from the book. I stumbled twice and had to repeat a paragraph ... but that was ok. I really enjoyed this book.
Sterling very nearly screamed, went rigid, clenched around him, and fell into a shaking openmouthed orgasm, release spilling over Dan’s hand and between their bodies, wave after wave of sticky heat. Dan groaned, buried to the hilt inside that euphoric slim body, and let the storm take him too, thunderclaps and dazzling eruptions and the flare of diamond-clear ecstasy. 💞😳💞

Loved it! I think the only thing wrong with it was that it wasn't a full-length novel; it read like a delightful one-shot fanfic, long enough to tease but not enough to satisfy.
I think at times it was a little stilted and Sterling definitely babbled a little too much, but all in all it flowed relatively nicely.
I'd personally love to read a good long novel about Sterling and Dan and their no-longer-haunted apartment building :D After all, Sterling's got his business to run!

SPOILER ALERT:
This was a good, quick read, though I wasn't sure what to expect going in to it. However, I got exactly what I wanted! A sexy witch, an awkward author, some magic getting performed, and some very, very well written sex. I definitely loved it!

I needed something unabashedly cheerful today, and I chose perfectly. I wish it had been longer and yet am satisfied with where it ended. The frustrated writer hit a chord, the surprise is a delight, and the puppy. Now I want one. :)

I could not stop smiling during and after reading this book! This story made me so sappy and love-happy. This is a story about kindness and confidence. About taking chances and taking care of others. About two sweet men who prove there's nothing unremarkable about finding your perfect counterpart. This is a story about love and magic.
We get the story from Dan's POV and he is so unbelievably kind but also a tad bit insecure. He believes himself to be "average and middle of the road" whereas Sterling is "distressingly adorable" with the way he's always smiling and "dressed like a rainbow that collided with a trendy coffee shop..." But it's so obvious by Sterling's ramblings that he likes Dan and doesn't see him as an average author who struggles to connect to people. So Dan, perplexed but hopeful, puts himself out there and IT IS AMAZING! Dan not only accepts and helps Sterling with cleansing the apartment building of some spirits, Dan also takes care of Sterling in the aftermath without asking for anything in return. But, of course, Sterling wants to be cared for in a more personal manner and it is *hugs self with a squeal* perfect!

While away an hour with this little gem of a super short novella. KL Noone will give you shelter from the storm with her frustrated bestselling novelist whose non-work is interrupted one dark and stormy night by a knock on the door...
...letting in the chaotic adorable colorful OMG he's a what? a witch...! is the best thing Dan Rose has done. He's noticed Sterling around the building...NOTICED him...and on this night is swept up in Sterling's world of magic and moving on ghosts...cleaning the dark energy in the old Victorian building where Dan rents his apartment. Sterling's there for herbs, but Dan's living room turns out to be the perfect spot for a ritual to help spirits move along to the next place...and if, in the aftermath of much effort and energy expended, Sterling begs and pleads for some comfort and relief...well.
Turns out these two are a gorgeous perfect compatible match, and while we witness the barest start of their journey, all signs point to forever.
Loved it! My only complaint is that it is TOO SHORT and I want more magical moments and to cozy up with these two on more ghostly and other adventures.
HFN/likely HEA. Frustrated novelist and whimsical witch. Magic. Spirits. Sensual, fully consenting recovery sex. Totally safe for me. A moment in time. Highly recommended.

This was a sweet short story about a witch, who is a whole lot better than he thinks he is at being a witch and an author who is bored and unable to settle on a subject for his new book. Sterling has a job and is determined to do and knocks on Dan's door following an intuitive feeling. Ghosts, both good and bad, needing an anchor, spices and a knife, lead these two on a short adventure and a new friend. A really cute, sexy and magical story that is quick enough to get you out of some housework, but not all of it. An excellent read.

I love the speed with which Noone establishes characters for these shorter stories. They're more than pencil sketches and less than detailed, just enough to fall in love with them.
Beautiful details of the inciting incident, which went (for me) in a surprising direction, which I enjoyed very much.
And lastly, the mutual admiration society with the romance novel sequelae. Yum, very sweet treat!

A short read for a stormy night. A New York apartment on a dark and stormy night, a detective mystery writer with writer's block, and a clairvoyant with magical abilities, what could go wrong? Apparently the apartment building is haunted and Sterling has been assigned by his coven to find the ghosts and help them move on, but he needs Dan's help and the contents of his spice cabinet. A cute story with a happy ever after implied.

The premise is really cute and we should all have a Dan in our lives, but because of the length the progress into the relationship did feel very rushed to me.

I liked the beginning, where Sterling brings in magic to Dan's life and introduces the rules of the world. I also thought Sterling's job--clearing spirits from the building--was a nice spin on mystics. But I didn't like the lazy finish, with a focus on pages of sex and not much else. I would have liked a bit more plot, like details on how Sterling will finish out clearing the spirits in Dan's building to make the end really feel conclusive.
