Will a chance reunion lead to more than the HOTTEST night of her life in this sexy second chance romance?
*
Jesse
I was the poor kid from the wrong end of town, and she was the little rich girl who thought she was better than me.

F**k her, I told my young heart. It wasn't like I'd go without. And I didn't. My bedroom became a revolving door.

Years later and she's back in my small town.

Well, well, the little rich girl has become a luscious woman with curves I want to lick. Best part of all is she's in a jam and needs my help.

Sure, baby. Sure, I think I might have just the tool you need...

Mia
He doesn't know it, but I was crazy about him. I only turned him down because I didn't want to be just another notch on his bedpost. Not that it bothered him, with his wicked smile and piercing blue eyes he went on to take the cherries of so many girls he earned the title of Cherry Popper.

After college, I moved to the city, but now I'm back for my friend's wedding, and the first person I run into is him.

Oh my, but he's a sight for sore eyes. The grown up, Jesse Cooper all hard muscles and oozing sex appeal, may even be able to fix my...uh...other problem too...

Cherry Popper is short novella. It has everything on romance requirement. Before I can feel or understand the chemistry, the story ended.

I like it OK. Nothing much to tell beside how short it is. Surprisingly it is not very cheesy considering the title of the book.

I like second chance romances. I had difficulty connecting with both Jesse and Mia. I couldnt buy their falling for each other in so short a time. 3 days they didnt know a thing about each other. I mean she kinda hid she liked him there in the beginning and she lost some points...doesnt matter who approved/disapproved. If I liked a guy wouldnt stop me but thats me. Then the whole dark secret he carried. It was kinda weird. Getting away with killing his Dad even if its an accident and warranted still you dont just walk away. Not realistic to me because you know they'd still prosecute him with something. It was just okay for me. Didnt really like it.

The book started off good. I loved how Mia handled the scene with her fiancee'. She showed fire and backbone. She stood up for herself and made adult decisions. When she gets back to her hometown she sees Jessie. He was hot in high school and he is even hotter all grown up. they connect and thing get hot and heavy fast. Jessie had a secret that made him not get close to people. When he does not share with Mia she leaves. I felt she left too soon. they had only reconnected for 3 days. The Mia in the first scene would have fought a little harder. In the end, the get an HEA so all is well. The story was probably too short to really flush out the characters and give them growth.

A surprisingly good read

I thought this was going to be your typical boy from the wrong side of the tracks and rich girl with the good pedigree story. She caught her fiance cheating on her with her friend and he was considered the town man-wh@re. The middle of the story really started getting better and by the end I was cheering on this couple.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review...I love River Laurent, I don't think there is a book that she has written that I haven't enjoyed. So we meet Mia who fortunately catches her fiance cheating on her with one of her friends, You may wonder why I said fortunately instead of unfortunately, well she was fortunate because this was her get out of jail free card. When she catches them she realizes she wasn't in love with him and she was just settling. While on her way to her friends wedding in her hometown she bumps into Jesse, a hottie crush that she had since high school but these two were in different social circles so when he asks her out she rejects and he wastes no time on her, he is the town manho. While on rebound these two are hott!! and they realize they have much more in common, I loved Jessie, and Mia was o.k., but her friends, yeah I rather stay lonely. Enjoy!

Ok so..I liked the description of the book and was interested before I saw the title...Cherry Popper.
Really?

So unfortunate titles aside, this is really good, it is a quick read and well written, there were definite avenues the author could have taken to go a bit deeper into the story, the deal with the Ex, more on their shared time in high school, also there was this friend Julie
All in super sexy quick read that was pretty fun!

Could have been so good.

Warning. The second half of this review contains spoilers (will warn again just before).
This book had the bones to be a brilliant read, unfortunately the reality was that it was just ‘blah’. The storyline rushed through to get to the constant sex and then on to the ‘shocking announcement’ drama that fell very flat. Their was no depth of character, no allowance for a relationship to actually develop. It’s almost as if the author was just checking off a list of ‘classic chick-lit musts’ as quickly as possible:
1. Woman does typical leaving of old life - returns to hometown.
2. Woman bumps into typical bad boy with heart of gold from highschool.
3. Lots of typically amazingly orgasmic sex bit
4. Man does typical refusing to talk bit.
5. Woman does typical running away bit.
6. Man does typical turning up on her doorstep and opening up bit
7. Woman does typical declaration of love and man returns the feeling bit.

Now for the spoiler:

I’m not entirely convinced that if you accidentally kill your abusive father while fighting and then hide his body, that you can turn up at the police station 10yrs later to confess and not at least be arrested. I’m pretty sure there would be more than simply hanging around for the rest of the day while they dredge the lake for the body and ask you to fill in some paperwork before being allowed to go on your way..... but what do I know? I’ve never confessed to killing anyone so maybe that is how it works?!

Skimmed and DNF

Was this really the same author of previous books? I was so happy to discover River Laurent earlier this year and eagerly devoured all of her available books. Sassy heroines, intriguing plots, yummy heroes... you get the idea. But this? Pretty much disliked the heroine from the first chapter and she never got better. Not a nice person at all. The dialogue was ridiculous and juvenile. And the "chemistry" between the MCs? It was all very meh and "I guess I'll screw this person cuz I have nothing better to do with my time." Seriously? Wow, just bowl me over with the romance in those attitudes. Please, please let the next book be better. This one? Don't bother

When Mia finds her fiancé cheating on her with one of her friends, she dumps his birthday cake on them and walks away. She heads out to her hometown to get away for awhile, never suspecting she'll run into her old high school crush, Jesse, when he agrees to fix her car that's broken down on the side of the road.

Jesse was the new guy back in high school. He was cool and seemed out of reach to good girl Mia. He went through nearly her entire class, so when he asked her out, she turned him down flat, not wanting to be another notch on his bedpost. Now years later, he's working at a garage and has an even worse rep than he had in high school. Still, there's something Mia can't resist about him, especially when he comes to her rescue at the local bar when some guy is manhandling her. When they agree to some fun, will it stay just fun, or will they end up admitting the feelings they're both soon developing?

Wow, I was expecting a pretty fluffy piece of sexiness here, but Cherry Popper is much deeper than that. Jesse's backstory in particular, is devastating, and it's made him into a damaged soul, even if it is deeply hidden. Mia and he share an electric chemistry, and I really enjoyed them falling for each other. And that epilogue is downright swoony!

I received an ARC for an honest review.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Mia Foxton and Jesse Cooper. Mia came back to the apartment that she shares with her fiance only to find him with another woman. She politely takes his birthday cake and shoves it in his face while he is still in the act. She has decided she is done and is now free to live how she wants to. Of course just because she goes through that doesn't mean it is all over for her. So when she has a broken down car and needs help she walks the 1/2 mile to the closest garage and runs into none other than Jesse Cooper. Jesse had a thing for her in high school but with her being the rich girl and him being from the wrong side of the tracks one no from her was all he was willing to put himself out there for. Can things be different this time around for these two or are they just still from two different worlds?

This is an amazing story. It does have its ups and downs. However you will find yourself connecting to these characters at different times in this story. There is so much I want to tell you about this story but don't want to ruin it for any other readers. I will say this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

This is a second chance at love book, cute but I think I wanted a little more drama.

Jesse was always the boy from the wrong side of the tracks, he arrived in town aged sixteen after an accident left him and his brother a part of the care system. He gained a reputation at school of a bedroom with the revolving door to the point he gained the nickname Cherrypopper! The girl he really wanted Mia turned him down flat not wanting to just be another conquest but she always wondered. Now the princess is back in town and he wants his chance this time and he’s going to take it!

Mia is from a wealthy family and has always done the right thing, she’s engaged to the man her parents approved of is she happy, no not really well not until she comes home unexpectedly to find her perfect fiancé banging her friend in their bed! Now she can have some fun and arriving back in her home town she sees Jesse again. She’s always wanted him but never just wanted to be a wam bam thank you mam episode in his conquest list. She’s attracted to him more than she ever expected, but is that all she feels?! Can the boy from the wrong side of the tracks be the one and how will they fit into each other’s worlds?!?

I did really enjoy this book but at times it felt a bit rushed. Certainly worth a read.

This was a fun read. Right a way we get an idea of how much of a spitfire Mia is when she walks in on her fiance cheating on her. After clarifying just how broken up they are, she heads back to her hometown for a friends wedding. Fate throws her in the path of her high school crush Jesse, aka Cherry Popper, and sparks begin to fly.

I like this book, it was fun and sexy, and I enjoyed seeing their relationship transform from a bit of contempt to more and more. I liked how Mia was able to stay true to herself throughout the story. We were able to see what a good guy jesse was despite his gruff exterior. My only real complaint is that i thought the transitions could have gone a little smoother. I thought the timeline was correct but that we could have been eased into each step a little more. She went from being somewhat disgusted by him to wanting him NOW without any hint of change and then all of a sudden in love with out more hints at feelings before that. I think if I had had just a little more of that I would have connected with their connection a bit more. Other than that though the story and characters really worked well for me.

The narration was well done and I especially enjoyed Jesse’s rough bad boy voice!

You will definitely want to pop this one on to your bookshelf.

Mia goes home after finding her fiance in bed with her friend and to put a cherry on the sundae of her life, her car breaks down about a mile out of town. Walking to the garage at the edge of town she runs into the last person she expected to see, Jesse, her high school crush and town bad boy. As the story progresses Mia decides to have some fun while she is in town, has the rose colored glasses forced off of her about society in town and has to decide if there is something more than a weekend hook up between her and Jesse. While Jesse decides to take what is being handed to him, has to keep his secrets buried where he thinks they belong and determine if Mia could be the one person that could handle his darkness. This one has a lot going for it, there are both personal and relationship issues to work through before a chance at a happily ever after can be had, there is a bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks and the society princess that just wants the simple life.

I received a free copy of the book from the author via Booksprout. I had the opportunity to review or not.

Mia walks in on her fiancé in bed with a friend. She throws the birthday cake, that she had for his surprise party, at him and walks out. She heads home...albeit a few days early...fir a friend’s wedding.
When her car breaks down just outside of town, she walks to the nearby auto shop fir a tow. She’s not expecting the town’s bad boy and the same guy that every girl wanted in hs but she turned down. Jesse moved to the small town when he was 16 and certainly worked his way throw HS. His nickname back then was Cherry Popper. He’s surprised to see Mia in his garage and wonders if he can succeed this time around. After all, she’s from the country club set. When Jesse rescues Mia from a handsy guy at the local dive bar, the two share a dance and a moment. Mia refuses to believe the stories about Jesse that her friends are spewing and ends up on a few dates with Jesse. However, as Mia and Jesse grow closer, it’s obvious that neither feels comfortable in the other’s world. Can the country club girl tame the town’s mechanic and bad boy? Throw in crazy exes and witchy friends and you have a story that really holds your attention until the end.

Sexy Second-Chance Story
I loved this story by River Laurent. It’s a good girl/bad boy troupe with an sort of enemies to lovers twist. River’s storyline is engaging right from the start I was drawn in to the characters’ story. The hero and heroine are well developed and entirely believable within the story. Jesse has a bad reputation from high school days. He was the guy every girl had the hots for in high school. But he really just wanted one girl to go out with. Mia the heroine is not one to be a notch on anyone’s bedpost. So when young Jesse comes calling she says bye-bye. Fast forward six years and she’s back in town for a wedding and just broke up with her finance because he cheated on her. A chance meeting rekindles the feelings between the two. Jesse is not who he seemed when they were younger and neither is Mia. Now Jesse has a lot of soul searching to do to trust Mia with his past. Mia already knows where she stands with Jesse but she is not going to take less than all of her man. There’s some very hot sexy scenes between these two. Loved the book and recommend it.

Cherry Topper, by author River Laurent, is a contemporary romance where the woman, Mia, comes from the right side of the tracks in a small town and the man, Jesse, comes from the wrong side side.
Mia had been living in the city with her fiancé but caught him "in flagrante delicto" with a friend of theirs on his birthday. After dumping his birthday cake on them she leaves and goes back home but finds herself in need of a mechanic. To her surprise it's Jessie, the high school Cherry Popper and current womanizer-about-town. The sense the attraction and act upon that in the parking lot behind the bar, then again the next night at dinner. But Jessie has a secret shared with his brother that must be shared and resolved before their HEA is realized. Will he? Will Mia be there supporting him?
I liked this book and am recommending it. The storyline flowed evenly from chapter to chapter. The characters were well developed and evolved with the story. It all worked together.

When Mia comes home to find her fiancé in the midst of pleasuring another woman she throws the cake she had for him at them and leaves. Heading back to her hometown where she was going to a friend's wedding was her plan however her car broke down along the way. Jesse couldn't believe his eyes when he saw Mia standing in his garage. He always had a thing for her in high school but when she turned him down he thought she didn't like him. Things get heated between them when the run into each other at a bar and Mia is tipsy. Jesse knows that they come from different backgrounds so he tries not to get too deeply involved with Mia but when he wakes up one morning and she's gone he knows that its too late. Can Jesse show Mia that she means more than a fling to him?

This is a great story once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between Jesse and Mia is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this story to any book lover.

Please know that this superbly crafted book is a fast, hard hitting shot to your heart. I try not to give away the plot of any book, however, and there are some things that I will give away but won't tell you the whole story. Mia, coming off a hard break up with her fiance, goes home to attend a wedding with her High School rival, turned friend, or so she thought. Jesse, her biggest crush, in high school helps her when her car breaks down. I can't explain to you the shock on both the faces to see one another again and the story takes off running from there. Cherry Popper was 100% filled with twists and turns and quite frankly riveting and heartbreaking at the same time. You are going to love it. Happily ever after is guaranteed.

I voluntarily requested an advanced reader's copy of Cherry Popper in exchange for my honest opinion and I highly recommend reading this well written romance. Ms River Laurent is a one of a kind Author, who only publishes quality books and this one is no exception.

When Mia discovers her fiancé with another woman, she flees, returning home early for her friend’s wedding. Breaking down outside of town, she suddenly finds herself stranded and in need of a good mechanic. One she just happens to know; Jesse.

‘Cherry Popper’ is a nice easy read. Okay, if I’m honest the title of the book almost put me off of reading it. It’s just so crass and unnecessary. Aside from the fact that it was, for obvious reasons, Jesse’s nickname in school it really has little to do with the actual plot of the book. The story itself is your typical second chance style romance, however a part of the ending did manage to take me by surprise. Jesse is a man of hidden talents and secrets no-one should have to keep. Mia is a bit of a feisty one, despite the fact that she comes from money. If you’re ‘umming’ and ‘ahing’ about whether or not to read this one, just take a look at the sample, as the opening is actually quite funny. It’s what sold me on the book and I’m not in the least disappointed.

Jesse had wanted Mia since high school but after she shot him down out of fear of becoming just another notch on this playboy's list he thought they were just too different and he wasn't good enough. Years later when she is about to head home for a friend's wedding she catches her fiance balls deep in someone else. Newly single she goes home but on the way her car breaks down and she finds herself at Jesse's garage. Of course there's a spark and since she was the one that rejected him and she was in need of some validation you have an idea where this is going to go. As the local manwhore or "cherry popper" as he was known in high school he seems like the perfect rebound but there might be more to him than everyone suspected. These two are definitely good for each other even if it takes them a minute to realize it and the sex is hot as hell. Great read makes us all wish ws could go home like this.

Jesse and Mia=yes!!

Well, this book starts off really good! Mia walks in on her fiance and best friend while bringing home his surprise birthday cake for his surprise birthday party. Well, they end up wearing the surprise cake-you go Mia! She then takes off and ends up seeing Jesse from high school. Her car breaks down and he owns the garage she walked to. These two were so cute (and hot!!) together. They try to tell themselves it's just for fun....yeah, that always works. You can't help but hope that these two can just realize what they have together. They eventually do, but not until Mia walks away and tried to get in with her life. I was completely invested in this story and loved how everything played out. It's not just sex with a thin plot thrown in. You get some really good sexy times, but a nice story with a sub plot or two. Looking forward to reading more from this author. Definitely would recommend this quick read!

Quick, hot, sexy and a good story! I loved my first listen of River Laurent. Mia catches her fiance in bed with another woman and rushes back to her hometown. Her car breaks down, and the only mechanic is Jesse, a man she knew years ago in high school. Jesse has a reputation with the ladies, and Mia is the only girl who ever said no. Will she say no now? These two have explosive chemistry, but that is not all this book is about. Their are confessions and redemption, guilt and love all melded together. I love how much is packed into this short, and Laurent does an amazing job of developing both the characters and the story. Don't be fooled by the title, it's got a lot going on and is a great listen.

Sophie James has a sultry voice, able to give Jesse that little bit of roughness, yet keep Mia with a touch of vulnerability. Her performance is always one that I enjoy with a great pace and good emotions and inflections.

The Princess and the Cherry Popper!! 4.5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Cherry Popper

By: River Laurent
Narrated by: Sophie James

River Laurent starts off this story with a bang, grabbing your attention right away and holds it to the very end. I really liked the lead characters, Mia and Jesse, each had their own struggles and issues to work thru. Secondary characters added to the drama being societal snobs with better than thou attitudes who frowned upon the less fortunate. This book was fast paced and entertaining, included some fun moments, smoking hot scenes, secrets and drama. Thank you River Laurent for the Great Read!!

I listened to the audible edition, Sophie James performs the voices of all the characters, switches back and forth effortlessly without missing a beat. She narrates the story nicely and in a perfect flow bringing the characters & story to life from the pages to your ears. Thank you for the great listen!

I think my eyeballs are stuck in my head. Oh you say WHAT?! Lemme tell you what. This book was complete bullshit. You know, you have that old ass uncle or some far far relative who only talks big and stupid, like "Jennifer Lopez was hitting on me and I had to get a restraining order against her" or some bullshit like that. Yes, that what this book was for me. A complete utter bullshit. There were so many times I was like "umm... what now!". I am rating this book as a 3 star because there was so much potential in it. This book had a good story, and I don't think writing style was bad either. I think the only problem was that the story was way too rushed. Yes, that's why all of it sounded like bullshit.

Although I liked MCs. Would have love to read about them in other circumstances.

Anyways, it's quiet short. Can easily be finished in one sitting. Took me around four hours or so to finish. I won't recommend it but still you can give it a shot.

Mia came home early one day with her fiancée’s birthday cake she heard like a grunt and followed the line of clothes along the floor right into the bedroom where she found her fiancée pounding into their friend Bella. Mia went back into the kitchen to get the cake then she went back into the bedroom and smashed it over her fiancee’s head lol. Then Mia laughed and jumped into her car and headed towards her parents house but before she could even get there her car broke down so she had to walk a few miles to get to the nearest garage. Mis got one hell of a shock when she saw who the mechanic was, it was her crush from high school Jesse, now he’s not a boy anymore he’s a full grown gorgeous sexy man. This is an amazing story and it left a smile on my face once I finished reading. A fantastic story a 5 plus +++++ ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

HOLY HOT JALAPENO!!!
Wow! Hey guys, you really have to grab this little bad boy here. I was hooked from the start. I got so lost in the passion that flowed through the entire tale. River really works wonders with this gem. The characters are fantastically well developed, complex and so realistic I felt I could just reach out and touch them. Their personalities rang true throughout as I followed their progress and growth. You could feel the electricity sizzling between them and their chemistry was exposive. The twists and turns really added all the spicy suspense and drama that kept me on the edge of my seat. I really related with the main characters. Talk about realism. River rocked this little guy, she totally nailed this baby. Fantastic job River, thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.
