Casey (freelance Computer Engineer) will be owned by Ethan (CEO of Vipyr Inc.) when she catches his attention. Casey is too clever to submit easily, Ethan is too determined to convince her to stay.
The book had a nice intense beginning, but after only a few pages I wasn't particularly interested in these two characters.

what i didn’t like:
the fact that he punished and fucked her in front of people. i don’t usually mind it but the fact that out of the 5 times they had sex, 4 of them was in front of people bothered me.
the first time, he had two policemen hold her down, bent over the desk in an interrogation room while he belted her and then fucked her.
the second time, he fucked her ass in the back of the car while someone was driving it. even if the driver couldn’t see it, it was made clear in book that he could hear them.
the third time, he spanked her and did the whole “delayed gratification/orgasm denial” thing in front of his british butler, Forsyth.
the fourth time, he tied/cuffed her and laid her bare for everyone to see. he then caned her, fucked her in all holes possible, in front of the butler, two or three FBI agents, and Jack (his business partner)
also, it was apparently clear that all of these times, it was not on a bed. bent over a desk or chained to a wall, but never on a bed. bc obviously, beds are overrated.
i honestly can’t remember a time when they had sex in person like why? and the thing is, it wasn’t their kink or something they enjoyed, bc there was never a reference of the others being in the room except for once when she would mention how humiliating it was to be naked in front of everyone and that bothered me a lot.
other than this, this was a short novella with tons of sex and no plot. the ending did nothing for me, and imo the ending was rushed and it felt like the author took the easy way out.

I’m quickly becoming a big fan of Loki Renard as I have really enjoyed her books that I’ve read. I gotta admit I’m always curious to see how far an author will go when it comes to the H humiliating the h. I know some people get offended by it but it’s part of the story and I personally admire the author for doing it. Casey is a freelance Computer Engineer and she’s discovered something in the software made by Vipyr Inc. She emailed the CEO, Ethan Keller and arranged a meeting to tell him what she’s found assuming he’s unaware. She shows him the block of code she found in one of his Apps that has the power to manipulate consumers to use certain products. When he laughs at her she realizes he was well aware of it and he figured she was there to extort money from him. She asks him to stop because it’s unethical and he recognizes her talent and offers her a job. He’s fascinated by Casey and the fact that she actually has integrity. She turns down his job offer and he tells her he wants her. She will be his whether it be the easy way or the hard way. She leaves his office thinking he’s crazy but she soon finds out just how powerful he is. Ethan was such an arrogant prick and honestly I loved him even before finding out his true reasons for taking her.

I managed to get halfway through this, and then I realised I didn't care much for Ethan at all. Weird, because I loved the author's other books.

WTF, even for a dark rom that was too much. That's abuse, plain and simple. Beating her raw (no, she didn't liked it) was a total turn off. But to each his own. 1 star for the storyline though.

was hoping for more from this author, with similar characters or such? i don't see one ... it appears i will need to look more into another book or characters. great cover. i enjoy Loki's writing style. new to this author. i will be checking out more from Loki soon enough. it was a quick read and i was curious where ... would u call it hot and steamy? or ouchy and ouchy? guess if it floats your boat ... go on??! ( ;

Borderline
Let me start this review by saying that I am no novice to dark reads. I find them entertaining as long as there is a story behind it to defend the darkness. That is where I found Bought lacking. I felt like it was borderline abusive without much of a substantial story to defend it. I was hooked within the first few pages and was excited to see where this book went. Where it went was a lot, I mean a ridiculous amount of sex with repetitive and boring storyline and plot. When I got to the end, I felt like what hooked me in the beginning was completely lost and barely explored.
In summary, if you want nothing but sex, this is the book for you. If you want a good story with a side of sex, move on.

Borrowed through KU programme.
Not a bad read, well written and hot but just didn't quite hit the mark for me
I so want to love Loki Renard books. She writes in the genres I love, with plots that are right up my street. Whilst I enjoyed this book enough to complete it, it didn't wow me.
On a positive the writing is good, I never struggled to 'get into' the story or to follow the flow of it. It definitely has its dark moments with plenty of dubious consent and some non-consensual acts. If you're looking for a super hot , steamy and erotic read it definitely ticks those boxes.
However there were two main issues for me, one of which is a personal, and very major, game changer. After a week of sex filled captivity we had declarations of love, which I just didn't believe. There were no tender moments, there were few (if any) actual conversations of a non sexual kind and no getting to know each other at all. I felt no connection between these characters other than lust. The hero, Ethan, was also very 2 dimensional and that fed into this lack of connection for me.
The second issue was the very cheesy ending that then threw the rest of the book into a new light. I'm sorry but the bad guy suddenly
Now despite the long rant in the spoiler, the ending was only a minor 'negative'. A huge positive was Casey herself. She might have been stupidly naive at times (and even recognised this herself, so I forgave her easily) but she was one strong and determined woman. She never gave up on her determination to expose Ethan and Vipyr, which is what kept me reading. SHE kept me reading this. She wasn't one of those heroines determined to stick to her guns and wilting at the first obstacle. For me she was a 5 star heroine.
So to sum up this is a hot and very erotic read with some very dark elements, though Casey never seemed to be too scared or mentally tortured, so it didn't feel too dark. If you don't need to feel a connection to both characters or are happy with declarations of virtual insta-love then you'd more than likely enjoy this too. After all, even I got all the way to the end, though I admittedly skim-read a few parts.

OMG! OMG! OMG! (This is definitely a 3 OMG! Book)
OMG! This starts out intense and then it gets sexy—really sexy---deliciously dirty and erotically stimulating. Wow! By the 3rd page my heart was thumping and I know I was way more frightened than the heroine. By the end of the second chapter, No one could have torn this book out of my hands!!!
I am intrigued by the intelligence of the characters. Reading this story through the POV’s of both the Hero and the Heroine added understanding and flavor to each nuance of their suspenseful journey. This narrative made me feel confused and excited, a little bit righteous, and oh yeah, SO VERY EXCITED! Loki Renard’s words gripped my mind, invaded my soul, titillated my imagination, and dragged all of me into this uniquely erotic adventurous romance.

Suspense, Spankings and Billionaires
Loki Renard is always good for a quick, satisfying read, especially since you're nearly guaranteed a spanking scene or two will be between the pages. In Bought, Regard breaks free of the Institute Series' tried-and-true mold and, frankly, it's a refreshing, gripping read.
Bought withstands the test of a novella; it's neither underdeveloped nor sheathed thin. Characters are believable. More insight into our leading lady's emotions seem warranted, at times, I felt a little like a bouncy ball versus on a journey with her. Some Hollywood melodramatics toward the end, but forgivable antics for this quick read. Compelling HEA ending. Would like to see this developed into a 300+ full-length novel. Renard definitely has the chops for it.

A short and kinky read written to perfection as only Loki Renard can. Her writing style is uniquely shocking and beautiful at the same time. Her characters have flaws and specific kinks. Every time Loki Renard has a new book I immediately buy it. She is a 1 click author for me for anything contemporary. SIFI isn’t for me, so I skip that genre.
This book did not disappoint as right away, Ethan took over as all Loki’s heroes do. Dominant, in charge, hot as hell and doesn’t take no for an answer. Casey is a very lovable character. She’s strong and brave as she faces off with billionaire CEO Ethan Keller of Vipyr Inc. She is set to blackmail him, but she has no idea what is in store for her.
Oh man, what ensues is literal erotic perfection! I just loved this book so much. I loved the kinky scenes and the hilarious ones. The ending was absolutely touching.
If you’re into BDSM and dominant men I feel you’ll like this one, just read the warning prior. I found it to be sooo perfect.

You lost me from the beginning when the book mimics Fifty Shades of Grey too much. Right down to... "Mr. Keller will see you now." Added in the shy, uncertain, nervous young girl. There is a snag in Ethan's plans though, his partner Jack doesn't want Casey to be with Ethan, he wants her eliminated, permanently. With the sensitive information Casey has come across, she could be very dangerous. Ethan thinks his control over Casey and his swift discipline of every act of
defiance will bring her to submission but Casey is a smart and strong adversary. Loki is a brilliant author with her varying plot twists that keep you enthralled to the last page and this book is no different..
Casey is a computer programmer and she found something seriously very wrong with the software that Vipyr use and she with her moral compass she naively wants to tell owner and CEO Ethan Kellar about in the hopes that he will do the right thing and fix it.
But Ethan has different ideas, he is smooth, sexy and manipulating, he has also decided that he will have Casey whether she wants to be his or not. But Casey can’t be brought.
Casey does her best to try and escape her captivity but Ethan brings her back to his mansion but Casey doesn’t go quietly she is to a point Ethan’s match as she can stand up to Ethan’s dominance but it also puts her in some sexy discipline sessions (that as a reader I had to fan myself a couple of times).

Casey is a very smart and talented software engineer, but she is not so smart when it comes to power or men. Trying to tell Ethan, the CEO of a very powerful software company, that he should change his software since it contains illegal or shady components, puts her in Ethan's crosshairs.
What follows is rather over the top. Ethan displays his influence and power by having her arrested, instead of the other way around, and spanking her bare bottom at the bureau. Ethan went hard on her
I must say this author has earned a new fan. This was a great fast read with action at every turn. When a Billionaire decides its better to take you as his woman than to destroy you for discovering something new and dangerous; one would think the female in question wouldn’t cause trouble. But man was I wrong in my assumptions. Casey would not stop testing his limits. Ethan would not give up either. He went hard on her, a weaker female would have stopped and gave it to him. Casey likes being punished by Ethan and she wanted him too. The heart gets what it desires in this case. Great book. I will definitely read others by this author. 🙂

Just to let you know - I am not a picky reader and I read for entertainment and not plausibility. If you are loooking for a credible story - look elsewhere. If you are looking for a totally alpha male trying to contain an unbelievably naive coder, this story is for you.
It's really short so don't expect major character development or world building. Everything that happens actually happens for a reason and if you read to the end of the story, everything will make sense. This is not a sweet insta-love, it's a twisted containment story with a HEA. Granted I am not into humiliation (which is prominent) but besides those few scenes, I did enjoy this story.

A fun, well written, quick read. Anyone who likes this type of genre should be completely satisfied. I wouldn’t have minded it being longer at 106 pages, but I do appreciate that it didn’t over pad itself with unnecessary filler. My only reason for not giving it five stars is because I usually reserve that for something a bit more unique and exceptional. But I thoroughly enjoyed it for what it was and saw no faults. A number of reviews criticize the more outlandish plot points, but any reading material about a sexy, powerful, billionaire who’s only mission in life is to spank and sexually satisfy you should be taken with a grain of salt.

Oh wow this is one intense powerplay story , you never knew what was coming next as Ethan Keller battles the sassy fierce like no other he has ever met Casey for control, at every turn she earns severe punishment as a public performance and boy can she press his buttons in every single way I loved her character and she has no choice but to be owned and controlled in every way. This is dark and so dirty and the chemistry is way off the charts as these two thrive on fighting it in every way which just sucked you into the story, I couldn't put it down.

Casey is an intelligent but idealistic girl. She strides into Ethan's office assuming that she could tell him what she discovered and get him to do the right thing. She couldn't have been more misguided. Ethan took possession of her effectively and her efforts to secure the aid of the police and FBI failed miserably. There were dark forces brewing in the background which Casey got caught up with inadvertently. A good read. I received this book from Stormy Night Publications as an advance review copy.

I loved this book. Casey is a smart and smart mouthed lady that stand strong. Ethan is a billionaire who is used to getting his way and not used to smart mouth girls. However he likes the challenge that Casey brings. She keeps him on his toes and doesn’t bore him.
I thought this book was perfect. The only complaint I have is it wasn’t long enough. I wanted to read more. I have read other books from this author and again she did not disappoint. I look forward to reading more of her books.

Hot, steamy, sexy story of IT genius Casey who uncovers an insidious tracker embedded in apps by millionaire Ethan. She confronts him to make him stop. Instead he offers her a job. She refuses and he kidnaps her. It’s game on. She keeps trying to escape only to realize how far reaching Ethan’s power is. In turn, Ethan finds out how strong willed and feisty Casey is. Anything he can dish out, she can take. Add in an undeniable attraction plus another enemy and the plot thickens. Well written and hard to put down! Loved it!

could have been so much better
The entire story makes no sense at all and that is coming from someone that enjoys twisted, dark romance. I find non-con has to be done a certain way or it's just ridiculous, unfortunately that wasn't the case here at all. The k!inky smex would have been really 🔥 if it wasn't so grape like and without reason. He is supposed to be a good guy, not a psycho either.... Anyway, it is a really short novella with a ton of unrealistic k!nky spice and I just didn't like it at all.

Sweet lord. This book was hotter than Death Valley. The blurb drew me in. I thought it was going to just be a quick read without any substance. I was wrong. While, it did have the Insta-love thing that I abhor there was actually great parts to it (and not just the steam). I wish it had been more drawn out to offer the insight into the characters growing from this encounter. That being said, still a great book.
