Y ou can find the original ABOUT THE ORIGINAL BOOK : Educated : A Memoir is the story of Tara Westover , who started her education formally at the age of 17. This is a tale of survival and struggle. The story takes several dramatic turns relating to Mormon survivalism, family dynamics, new horizons, abuse and several other defining moments. The most remarkable fact about the story is that after entering the classroom so late, Tara earned a PhD in history. One of the lessons of Educated is that you can do anything you set your mind to.
Important note: This is not a review for Educated by Tara Westover. This is a review for a summary of that book, by Napoleon Hook, (a nom de plume if ever there was one) which I read in an attempt to refresh my memory bc I’d read the actual book awhile back and needed to remind myself about it for book club. This summary was horrble and vague. It’s like the author took a blurb from the back cover of the actual book and just expanded it with blather, chapter by chapter. Idk how he managed to fill so many pages with next to nothing. The entire time I was reading this, I couldn’t help but think to myself : This is why students’ book reports are so horrible! They read this sort of crap instead of an actual book, and then when asked to develop an essay, have no textual examples to support their argument. I never knew that summaries of this sort existed for nearly everything, even contemporary works.....hhhmmm, I should write some myself. I could do a better job.
This was a very quick read and quite different from the usual. I love memoirs but could not immerse myself in this story. There was not much detail about the characters and i do not feel satisfied after finishing it.
