Rate this book
Experience Freedom by Embracing
One Fear
--and Releasing All Others

It sounds strange, doesn't it? Exchanging your fears for another. But the fear of God has the power to extinguish every anxiety that keeps you from living in hope.

Bestselling authors Neil Anderson and Rich Miller want to show you how to let go of the common but harmful fears of failure, evil, and death and find safety in your relationship with God. As you uncover the path to true freedom, you'll also see where your fears come from and why it's exceedingly important to break their hold on you now.

Come, trade your worry-filled days and nights for a worshipful life. See how "in the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence" (Proverbs 14:26)--all you need to live courageously and peacefully, even in frightening times.

"God "delivered us from so great a peril of death, and will deliver us, He on whom we have set our hope" (2 Corinthians 1:10). Notice that He "has" and He "will" deliver us. For every child of God, the greatest object of fear has been removed if we believe the gospel, but other objects of fear remain as we seek the Lord in this fallen world. We still have to resist the devil, overcome our flesh patterns, and be transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2). But God will deliver us from fears, worries, doubts, and panic attacks as we mature in Christ." (Neil T. Anderson, Letting Go of Fear)

Jesus said in the last day's people's hearts would fail them for fear and anxiety over what is coming upon the earth. (See Luke 21:26). So what did Jesus tell us to do when we have fear of the things that are coming upon this world? He told us to "straighten up and raise your head, because your redemption is drawing near" (See Luke 21:29).

Not all fear is necessarily a bad thing. The authors reiterate this in this book by saying "Fear is the most basic instinct of every living creature. An animal without fear will likely be some predator's dinner. Fear is the natural response when our physical safety and psychological well-being are threatened. Rational fears are learned and vital for our survival. For instance, falling off a chair at an early age develops a healthy respect for heights. Phobias, on the other hand, are irrational fears that compel us to do irresponsible things or inhibit us from doing what we should."

Therefore, I believe when the Bible is talking about "Fear not"; it's not talking about rational fears; I believe it's talking about irrational fears. Jesus knew that as human beings we are prone to worry; He taught us not to worry and not fear through His teachings in the Gospels. Probably His most famous teaching on worry and fear was in the sermon on the mount. He is saying this to you and me today (RIGHT NOW!):

“...do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

Getting back to this book, the authors are trained counselors. Neil T. Anderson has helped many people step into their freedom in Christ through his Steps to Freedom in Christ ("Steps"). Even though I've already read a few books by him, every time I do the Steps, I feel a chain come off my life. The Steps and prayers cover everything from identifying the counterfeit vs. the real, deception vs. truth, bitterness vs. forgiveness, rebellion vs. submission, pride and vs. humility, bondage vs. freedom and curses vs. blessings.

Never has there been a better time to arm yourself with the Word of God with weapons to defeat fear. This book gives you tools to break the chains that are holding you back from seeking first the kingdom and fulfilling your purpose, calling and becoming everything you were designed to be! Amen. Come Lord Jesus.

Letting Go of Fear
Put Aside Your Anxious Thoughts and Embrace God's Perspective
by Neil T. Anderson; Rich Miller
Harvest House Publishers
Christian , Self-Help
Pub Date 04 Sep 2018
I am reviewing a copy of Letting Go Of Fear through Harvest House Publishers and Netgalley:
Neil T Anderson and Rich Miller points out in this book that Introducing a person to Christ is not helping a bad person become a better person instead it is helping a spiritually dead person become one who becomes alive in Christ. The authors go in to point an irrational fear is a thief that erodes our faith steals our freedom and takes away the joy of living an abundant life in Christ. The authors go on to point out the difference between fear and panic.
The authors go on to talk about some of our greatest fears, from fear of death to fear of being alone, we are reminded too that salvation conquers death.
The fear of failure is also addressed in the book, and reminds us that we need to be more concerned with a Biblical definition of success and not so concerned about what the world sees as success.
The Fear Of God is also addressed, the importance of Drawing Near to God is also addressed.
We are reminded too that as Christians it is important we break the stronghold of fear. We are reminded too of the importance casting all anxiety on Christ.
I give Letting Go Of Fear five out of five stars!
Happy Reading!

My Antichrist thoughts that are my wants that I belittled, minimized, and I did not take seriously because I was not a Christian, they made me anxious, depressed and sad: My thought of forever, infinity, limitless potential and unending of things translated things to people who succeed and have a long career like me. I was listening to Christian Worship songs when I realized that I immortalized Rome that crucified Jesus and put Jesus down, looked on him, did not believe in him, and glorified Rome.

God cannot love me, why not, because I am black, he loves all the world, why not you? The quest for power, money, fame and fortune made me sell my soul to Rome through understanding and finding the Holy Grail did know what worshipping the Antichrists' means . I am in awe of how forgiven I feel be when I was so sure that I was not loved, cared for, that no Higher Soul cared for me since a child other the superego: Dad, Mom, my sibling etc.

The consciousness of knowing Jesus and not knowing Christ is I have my needs, wants, my life, my family and everything that make me anxious, depressed when I think the reality of losing these things etc. So I am finding solution for those things, when I know Christ Consciousness I have my needs, wants, and most importantly I do not ask for treasures: Like lengthening of my life, and my loved ones, work, dignity, good times, Friendships with nice people. Because then I am not seeing Jesus, Christ Consciousness as a store or something like that. Needs and Wants cause anxiety, fear, worry because it is cycle of no believe in Christ and not only that making him into a mockery, ridicule.

Encouraging and biblical throughout with helpful and relevant application of many passages of scripture. Nice integration of the 'steps to Christ' at the end of each of the first seven chapters. Easy to read but also lots of valuable points to take away. I would highly recommend this book.

This is more of a workbook than I expected. I think it took away from the totality of the book in that I did not “work” through it, only read through it.
I really enjoyed the final 3 chapters.

I'm familiar with Neil Anderson and his ability to make spiritual battles known for what they are and then provides the tools to fight and ultimately win those battles. Letting Go of Fear is timely for the days inn which we find fear is a dominant emotion. Read this book and trust God for your deliverance.
