Like many other reviewers, I found this book inspirational! In the meantime, I have checked out some of the blogs discussed in the book. I know it was not meant to be a how to book, but I would have loved to hear about the specific companies they worked with to get their first few hundred dollars. Overall, it was a good read, and I would recommend it to bloggers that are looking for a shot of motivation.
I received an advanced reader copy for this book in order to provide my input- As a blogger, I enjoyed how this book was chock full of inspiring examples (17 of them) of successful bloggers who make at least 8K/mth blogging. Having been doing this for some time, I appreciate the honesty of the accounts and the time and dedication that this book presents. Actual practical takeaways are generalized but consistently showed that lots of hard work, focus, batching, less focus on social, more focus on email were the trend for their successes.
If you want specific practical advice, this is not the book. If you want inspiration and encouragement, read this book!
This is an easy to read book that you can breeze over it in a couple of hours. However, if you want to implement the key takeaways into your own blog and business that will take some time and effort. But from the inspiring stories of these bloggers, it looks like it would be worth it. I would have liked a few more specific tips of exactly how the bloggers monetized their sites and grew their email list. Nevertheless, this has helped me to see some things to improve on my my blog, for sure. Note it is not a 'how to blog' book but recommended if you want to be inspired to improve your blog.
The Essential Habits of 6-Figure Bloggers by Sally Miller was both a pleasure to read and an educational opportunity. Sally delivers information in an easy-to-read style backed by real-life examples from successful bloggers.
The tone of the book is almost like personal coaching combined with hands-on actionable guidance. I took 9 pages of notes and wrote down 14 book recommendations to add to my TBR list, and two podcasts that I have already subscribed to.
One of my favorite parts of this book is getting a deep-dive look into the experiences and thinking of successful bloggers. I am familiar with some of the blogs and bloggers in this book, but now I have many more to check out and subscribe to for their newsletters.
One of my favorite take-aways was that "there is no college of blogging". That is the truth! But, this book comes close to being that college for me.
I've read several books about blogging and it was refreshing to read this one because Sally Miller does not include a long beginning section about choosing a hosting site, finding a blog theme, etc. This book went right to the heart of what I have been looking for.
I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in blogging.
My interest in blogging started not that long ago. Not knowing where to start, I did what I have learned to do with every new interest: I searched for a book. I found a few best-sellers on Amazon and bought not one but three books on the subject.
The Essential Habits of 6-Figure Bloggers is divided into three sections: act with purpose, create systems for success and believe in yourself. Every section covers a habit. Additionally, each part is broken down into chapters. Some chapters were written as personal interviews where one of the 17 successful bloggers is asked a specific series of questions. These questions include, among others, what is your favorite business book, and why? What strategy or habit had the most significant impact on your blog’s success? What’s your recommendation on outsourcing tasks to virtual assistants? What advice do you have for other bloggers who are struggling to make a profit?
Reading the book was enjoyable. Sally Miller possesses a clear and concise writing style that maintained a consistent and interesting flow through the pages. The chapters aren’t very long; some are only three to four pages. It was fascinating to read about other people’s life stories. Most bloggers in this book are mothers who were searching for a way to make a living while nurturing their children. Others were interested in leaving their nine-to-five jobs for freedom, flexibility, and the sense of purpose that comes with blogging. Regardless of their motives, they found the formula for a profitable blog and now serve as proof that it’s possible to create a six-figure business from home. And that’s six figures a month!
It’s beneficial to have a book that highlights other people’s successes and failures at your disposal, 24/7, especially if you’ve just begun a journey in the same field. Being knowledgeable about what has and hasn’t worked for others is extremely valuable and, often, inaccessible. Every person’s journey, strengths, and areas of improvement are different. Still, there’s always something that can be learned from someone else’s story, whether it applies to something that you’re experiencing in the present or could potentially face in the future.
This book doesn’t cover the technical aspects of blogging. For that, there are other options to choose from on the topic. However, Sally Miller’s writing, in particular, grants you access to six-figure-earning bloggers’ minds, as well as their tips, tricks, habits, and perspectives, to improve your blogging experience. Still, it does scratch the surface on topics like monetization, marketing strategies, blog purpose, and establishing goals.
I didn’t particularly appreciate the repetition in some parts. I found myself questioning whether I had already read a specific section in a previous chapter or not, which caused minor confusion.
Ultimately, I wouldn’t say that this is an essential reference for every blogger. Nevertheless, it’s a good read whether you are aspiring to become an established blogger, or already are one. Reading The Essential Habits of 6-Figure Bloggers can help you get out of your head and understand that your current struggles and challenges are universal. Whatever you’re facing in your blogging journey, someone else has already faced and conquered that obstacle. In this book, you can read how they did it.
For anyone attempting to build an online profitable blog, The Essential Habits of 6-Figure Bloggers will be an interesting read. The three habits Sally mentions are helpful for the beginner or seasoned blogger. What I liked most about the book is it doesn't present a one-size fit all methodology. Instead by focusing on a few key principles bloggers can find their path to success. The interviews of top-ranking bloggers are a nice addition. However, if you've been in blogging circles for long, you've likely heard most of the advice presented in the book.
There's really nothing wrong with the book, but there's nothing particularly good about it, either. Anyone who's ever owned a blog or an online business, or even anyone who's ever pursued an offline career, as I have, knows they must cultivate the three habits the author skims over in her book. And I did mean to write "skims over." She doesn't go into any depth in telling the reader how to cultivate these essential habits if they are having trouble doing so. Still, the three chapters that deal with these habits are interesting and contain a few good takeaways.
Most of the book, for me at least, is filler, and therein lies its problem. The author spends most of the book "interviewing" successful bloggers about what they did and didn't do to become successful, and some of the answers are very strange, to put it mildly. There is really no agreement among these success stories on what a beginning - or even an advanced - blogger should, or should not, do. I did read all the interviews, but I didn't like them and didn't learn anything from them other than the fact that we are all different and need and respond to different things, which I knew already. For me, they simply made a short book not quite as short as it would have been otherwise.
To sum things up:
Are you a good writer? If you aren't, don't even consider blogging.
Do you enjoy writing? Again, if you don't, don't even consider blogging.
Are you passionate about something? Books, skin care, opera, wine, green building practices, etc.? Figure out how to blog about your passion.
Finally, buy BLOGGING FOR DUMMIES. Even it might not be definitive, but it'll be more helpful and comprehensive than this book.
However, Miller does provide some guidance by questioning 17 different bloggers, who have been successful, about what they did and how they did it.
Readers are given some insight into what worked for these six figure bloggers, and what did not. Readers are given a lot of different ideas to use on their blogs and suggestions for improvement.
The Essential Habits Of 6-Figure Bloggers may or may not help you reach six figures, but it will help you improve your blog. We give it all five stars. We think you will, too.

This book is incredibly motivating. As a blogger who hasn't monetized my blogs after many years, I feel encouraged by the strategies outlined in this book. Despite the repetitive Q&A format, each chapter offers valuable insights and practical advice for bloggers.
While I found the book useful, I wish the style had been more varied to avoid the feeling of repetition. Nonetheless, the information was well-organized, prompting me to order a paperback copy. I wanted to get the ebook because it’s easier to search, but was surprised that I couldn’t find an ebook version.
I noticed that some books recommended by the bloggers were repeated, leading me to wonder if the bloggers were part of a mastermind group, exchanging book recommendations with one another. However, despite this observation, the book provides valuable insights into the mindset and strategies essential for achieving blogging success, extending beyond the mere act of writing.
Overall, I highly recommend this book for bloggers looking to monetize their blogs. I hope to meet Sally Miller and some of the other bloggers in this book. In the meantime, I plan to use this book as a reference for both my blog and fellow bloggers in my writing community.
I love how this book boils down to the three things that make up the habit of the successful 6-figure authors. What's even better, Sally also goes deeper on how to make these habits a part of our life.
Besides the three habits, this book also features interviews from other bloggers who make 6-figure income from their blog. I find these interviews useful since I get to know how long does it take for these bloggers to achieve 6-figure income from their blog. For me, this is important since I can set myself the expectation on how long it will take for me to achieve more or less similar results as the other 6-figure bloggers. What's even better, the bloggers interviewed are from many different niches as well, making me think that it's possible to make 6-figure income regardless of the niche.
If you're new to blogging and have the ambition to make your blog generating 6-figure income for you, then this book is for you.
Curiosity more than anything made me check this out. I suppose it can't be helped, but right from the start the advice given is way too general, one size fits all. After an intro as to the three takeaways the author found in her research, it's mostly interviews, which really didn’t work for me. I couldn’t care less about favorite business books. And it gets boring seeing the same questions over and over. I’m definitely not saying that this is the wrong approach, only that it didn’t keep me interested enough to want to continue, and so even though this is a small book it felt to this speed reader that it took forever. Once I finished this I figured I wasn’t really the right audience, as I realized I didn’t want to do anything with my blog other than sometimes inform or entertain. This is for people who want to make a living, or at least some money, on blogging.
I am going to give this book a solid 4 stars. The book is separated into the 3 major habits of 6-figure bloggers, and then broken down into manageable action-pieces. The secrets and stories of the 17 bloggers are broken down into Q&A chapters, which is really helpful to see the similarities and differences between each business as they had to answer the same questions. I am adding a whole lot of books to my TBR because one of those questions was what's the most impactful business book, and several bloggers gave multiple answers, though some gave the same answer. Sally Miller also offers a free Beginning Blogger Workbook online as a companion to the 'action steps' that I have not yet started but after scanning it am going to suggest readers who are seriously reading this to help their business to download the workbook and GET TO IT.
The Essential Habits of 6-Figure Bloggers is a book about what habits make successful bloggers successful. Sally Miller lays out three habits that she believes are the keys to building a profitable blog. The three habits are acting with purpose, creating systems for success, and believing in yourself.
There are four sections of this book worth reading: the introduction, chapter 1, chapter 8, and chapter 14. The other 17 chapters of the book are poorly done interviews with bloggers. While some info might interest other readers, it is the same eight questions asked to 17 different people. Most of the answers agree with each other and thus become redundant as you read through the same interview repeatedly.
The only thing that truly bothered me about this book was that each of the interviews is quoted elsewhere in the book, so it felt very repetitive. There were several times where I thought I had lost my place in the book, or I thought she interviewed the same person twice, because I swore I had seen whole sections before.
There wasn’t really anything actionable in here but the amount of bloggers she’s interviewed (17!) did go to show that this kind of success is possible and somewhat common and not the result of some virginal sacrifice or blood ritual. She publishes the same Q&A for each blogger so there are also a lot of good recommendations for books and websites to pick up as well.
This was a very easy but informational read. The author packed a great deal of knowledge into the book without making it overly technical. As a new blogger I often get bogged down in the details which prevent me from making progress. Reading interviews of real bloggers who’ve suffered from the same thought process and how they’ve moved forward was a real game changer for me. Awesome read for aspiring bloggers as well as anyone who isn’t reaching their blogging goals.
THIS BOOK WASN'T TOO BAD. THE AUTHOR DOES A GOOD JOB WITH PROVIDING THE READER WITH STORIES FROM OTHER SUCCESSFUL BLOGGERS AND TRYING TO ENCOURAGE THE YOUNG BLOGGER WITH NECESSARY TOOLS TOWARDS SUCCESS. THE BLOGGERS THAT WERE EXAMPLES IN HER BOOK, DIDN'T REALLY CONVINCE ME TO DESIRE TO BLOG. HAD I NOT READ OTHER BLOGGING BOOKS, I WOULD NOT HAVE DESIRED TO BE A BLOG, INSPITE OF THE FACT THAT SHE STATED THAT THE BLOGGERS IN HER BOOK WERE SIX FIGURE BLOGGERS.
I EXPECTED MORE DETAILS FROM THE 6-FIGURE BLOGGERS. VERY LONG BOOK!
I've been writing for years, but I've never taken my blogging seriously. Finally, I'm ready to take that step, so I picked up this book. This is a really cool book because the author interviews a variety of bloggers and just asks them similar questions. She asks how long it took them to make a profit from their blog, what they wish they knew when they started, the best advice they have for new bloggers, and much more. I've been in a bit of a creative slump yesterday, but binging this book really gave me some motivation to get to work.
Essentially, this is jammed packed with experience of how to run a successful blog. Full of advice that I believe anyone can apply and make happen for themselves. This isn't a get rich advice, but you continually see that it takes time and effort to make it successful. The only thing I saw that was slightly questionable is some of the advice that Sally gave was then repeated by one of the bloggers she interviewed. So it made me question who really the leader in that advice was. Either way, this was a good book and would recommend this book to other starting bloggers.
Very well done, Ms. Sally Ann Miller. A compilation of interviews with and tips from 17 very successful bloggers. Each chapter is formulaic with the same questions being asked of and answered by these 17 awesome bloggers. If you can't learn some useful information from this book then just quit reading now. My only critique was that it seemed directed mainly, but not exclusively, at working mothers (of which I am not one). Very useful none the less.
Interview books are always inspiring. In this book, you will find seventeen interviews with some of the most successful bloggers in different niches. Sally is a Top 100 Business Author and Certified Coach. She has published fifteen books which have been downloaded more than 50,000 times. She is passionate about helping purpose-driven people make money from home.
As a newbie blogger this is a must read! It’s comforting knowing that we all of have insecurities and that mindset and determination are so very important! Thank you for writing it and to all the bloggers that contributed :)
I enjoyed reading the information shared by successful bloggers. There is definitely valuable info in this book. I would have loved a little more details, but that’s work I’ll need to do on my own.
A good read if you're looking for blogging tips to improve your current blog...so, not a read if you're looking to START one. There's helpful insights on defining your blog's purpose & strategies to maximize your reach.
This book shared the stories of 17 successful bloggers and really highlighted that there’s no one road to achieving your goals. I loved reading how each story was different, and how their tailored their business to their own lifestyles and needs. I’d highly recommend for anyone new to blogging!
