She needs a hero...

Gwen Milton has been working her fingers to the bone in her family’s diner for as long as she can remember. This shy country girl is exhausted from keeping the business afloat, and the only escape she finds is in the books she reads behind the counter. She could really use some Mr. Darcy in her life, but when would she even have time for him?

Then, one day, she looks up from those pages and sees a tall, dark, handsome hunk who seems to have eyes only for her.

From the moment Quinn Maxwell saw Gwen he was smitten. Sure, he’s got a reputation with women — he seems to go through them as fast as he raises buildings in his contracting business — and Gwen is next on his to-do list. All he wants is to romance her, give her some help with her rocky business, and chase her weariness away. Even though Gwen is a hard sell, he’s determined to bring things to a climax — and soon.

But sometimes heroes come with secrets, and as Gwen falls for Quinn, it might already be too late to save her heart …

I’ve been waiting for Climax since the last word of Breathless. And now I’m waiting for the “D” book. Clover Hart has once again penned a story I couldn’t put down.

This story, like the others, begins with a “blog post” that tells readers what’s going on. Kind of like the opening scrolls of Star Wars movies or the narrator commentary at the beginning of the campy 1960s Batman television show. I’ve come to look forward to these posts (and the ones the stories end with.)

But that’s not the best part of the books. That would be the love stories themselves. And Climax is no different. In fact, it might be the best so far.

Climax is the story of Gwen, the quiet and responsible twin we met in earlier books, and Quinn, a contractor new to the area who has a secret past. Quinn… yum! I love a bad-boy-turned-good, and he’s very epitome. The scenes in his point of view help us see how hard he’s worked and how far he’s come. I fell for him, head over heels a hundred times over. The scenes in Gwen’s point of view show her strong resolve and tender heart.

With each obstacle to their relationship, I rooted for them to overcome it. And with each victory, I feared the next issue. It was a true rollercoaster of emotions, and I didn’t want to get off the ride. But the ending is so satisfying … it just made me stand in line for the next one.

The dialogue is engaging, the desire palpable, the relationship steamy. All this and more in the sweet and tart Cherry Valley — where I can’t wait to visit again.

Heartwarming, Heart-wrenching Romance

I loved this fantastic read by Clover Hart about Gwen, an attractive 30 year old co-owner of Milton’s Diner and Quinn, a hunky building contractor who has been drawn to Gwen each day when he goes to the diner for either lunch or dinner. He’s never been able to get close to her to get her to accept a date. She is far too busy working a hectic schedule to keep the diner afloat to support her mom and her twin sister, Grace the gregarious one. Quinn’s had a troubled past he’s worked hard to put behind him as well as his penchant for picking fiery women who need saving. This characteristic is of benefit to Gwen and her family when their diner catches on fire and she’s strapped for paying for repairs. He agrees to help if she will allow hi to take her out. This story is heartwarming, gut wrenching and hot as these two work their way through negotiations to get the work done and with their hearts in tact.

Gwen works hard in the family diner with her mum & twin sister Grace
Quinn is the contractor hired for the work on the winery he’s taken with Gwen but she’s wary. Can he convince her to take a chance & what are they both hiding from.
When I first started reading this series the characters were a slow burn but the stories are really expanding and no two couples alike.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
