Sniper's Eye by Mainak Dhar is a suspense thriller. The plot based on a terrorist attack happens in Mumbai. It is the first book in the series of seven. The cover of a book goes admirably with the title. This is my first read of this author and I will look forward to more.

Overall Verdict:- The perfect thriller

An aerial view of Mumbai from a Sniper’s perspective in cover and colophon abstracting a romantic date gone murderously wrong (pun intended), I initially read a few pages from this book while talking to a Netflix customer care, who seemed to blame all the software bugs as license problems (sigh!!!). Instead I ended up ditching the call and finishing the book (one more page and then I am done).

“Sniper’s Eye” starts with a mall shooting and centres around Aditya Ghosh whose date with Zoya turns a disaster. Things slowly spiral out of control as he is supposed to corporate with the sniper himself as along with him several army men and their families become victim of terrorist attacks or sniping.

The book is written in third person narrative. The thrill and grip are maintained throughout the books as the reader moves from one page to another. The chapters are well placed, and connected. The use of simple language aids the plot as the readers can actually focus on the story and keeps them occupied. The action and fight sequences are well described and add to the flavour of the thrill that the story keeps.

Aaditya Ghosh portrays the main protagonist superbly. He is a man of action, perfectly practical in times of trouble, doesn’t lose his cool, and keeps his demons of past at bay. Aman Karzai portrays his grey shaded character perfectly. Zoya, Ravi, Rekha and Phadke support the plot nicely. Personally I felt that the character of Sai could had been given more presence or maybe given more depth. The Stan Lee sort of cameo of Mainak Dhar as M.K. Dhar works acts as an easter egg and works for the entertainment of readers. Suffice it to say that no character is overused

Overall, the author delivers us a story which serves as the perfect thriller. Inspite of its familiar plot, the book successfully captures the readers interest and delivers.

For Mainak Dhar’s enticing and engrossing thriller, my overall rating would be 4.5/5.

The story starts with a man shot in front of the eyes of the main protagonist Aaditya and his date Zoya.
And he knows that the shot can be made by only an experienced sniper.
He ended up killing one of the 'terrorists'.
NO, the story does not go on and on about this.
The story starts here.
He becomes a hero overnight.
Is it a boon to get recognized ...or does it dig out his past he has successfully left behind?
Does Zoya really know who he was before?
Does the relationship last inspite of knowing about his dirty yet mysterious past (that the whole country would come to know about & which would soon pose a threat to her own life)?
Who is this serial killer/sniper who is killing the senior officials of the country one by one according to the list that is on the 'kill list' as showed in various videos uploaded by the so called terrorists?
Why is Aaditya's name on this particular kill list?
Is there a way to escape from this dead end mess he has created for himself when he tackled that 'terrorist' on that fateful day? 👍Loved the way how sensitive issues of politics and terrorism get portrayed in a way that is neither in a condemning manner nor as some fanaticism topic
👍The manner in which several facts have been fitted at the right places in building up plot (like the Mumbai terrorist attack) is applaudable
👍Fast paced & realistic
👍The unfathomable love towards another person that can be trusted has been penned down so well 👍Mature romance quotient, the characters are very believable
👍The trauma and the after effects of war have been etched out in a way that I felt like I am seeing the war scene myself
👍Not everyone we see as good is good. Who knows the one we trust the most has been the one planning for our downfall? I enjoyed this part so much!
👍Not everyone we see as our enemy is not our enemy, who knows this enemy is the sole answer of our survival means! Awesome plot indeed!

I loved this book from the 1st page till the last page👌
*One of the best reads so far.

Sniper's Eye is a book that you must read on a stormy day to enjoy at its finest. The way Aaditya gets involved in the events of the book is quite unfortunate and you actually feel sad that his date is ruined. He gets involved in what seems a mysterious plot of murders and his partner starts distancing from him initially. But he is not a man to give up easily and we eventually find things taking an exciting turn. Fabulous writing style accompanied by a nearly brilliant plot - the only complaint I have is that this book was too recurrent with the character trope of 'Hero with a a dark past' . Highly recommended for thriller lovers!

Loved this book. A different thriller than the usual India pakistan conflict stuff... it does have those elements but the plot goes much deeper.

It's written in 1st perspective and I really liked how action in the book happens... with all that psychoanalysis and deep combat training!

Would definitely recommend it... a nice read for the weekend!

This is the second book of Mainak Dhar that I read after “03:02”. This one also has terrorism as the pivotal part of the story. The story is fast paced and it is a good book to relax with, though the story could have been better, especially towards the later part.

Aaditya Ghosh is out on a date with Zoya, and a person is shot right in front of their eyes. Aaditya has a prior military background and has some secrets from his earlier times. He gets involved quite accidentally and finds a major conspiracy in play. A number of people have been marked for death by a terror group and there is soon a sense of panic. Aaditya’s involvement carries very high risks including to Zoya.

The story progresses quite well, and all elements of the plot are unveiled at about the right moments. At the end, you do feel that the story had more potential than this though.

I do recommend this book for reading – as it is one of those which moves easily, and as I said at the start, a very good book to relax with.

My rating: 3.5 / 5.

The book is a ticking bomb in a small package contains an interesting concoction of Suspense, action, mystery, love, hate, drug, corruption, power, drug and killings. The story starts with the central protagonist Aaditya's movie date with zoya turning into a tragedy after witnessing the murder of a person in cold blood before their eyes in a crowded mall. The dark secrets buried in the attic of his past life comes to surface. His new life suddenly starts crumbling threatening all his dreams and desires. With a series of killings, he found himself get sucked into the vicious web, discovering some shocking truths which has the power to unleash unrest in the society.Does he get enough time to solve the puzzle or becomes the target of enemy's ammunition?

The author knows how to drive the readers to the edge of the seat with his fast paced, action packed, engaging storytelling. Written in a simple language the plot is full of surprises, the twist and turns never let the thrill quotient die.The characters were tastefully fleshed out and explored to the potential.Their distinct characteristics and background is one of the main driving point of the story.
The writer skillfully portrayed the central character Aaditya, an ex-army officer, his uneasiness and struggle to balance the two lives.Loved his critical thinking even during crisis, physical prowess and an eye for detail. The human side of men in uniform is beautifully projected through the characters.Their concern about loved ones and the constant threat looming over their head even after they have hanged their boots. The vulnerability of losing their loved one always plague the mind of their family members.Despite all the odds a man in uniform never back-out during the call of his duty.
A well researched and written book it bared the corruption at the pecking order of the system, the power thirsty money making crooked minds, the tainted conscience of a killer, war crimes and the unthinkable equation between an ex-army man and his ruthless killer. The details of the artillery, premises, covet operations and shooting spiced up the whole environment.I could feel the tension in my limbs and adrenaline rush in my blood with every new page. What is really intriguing is the way, the human side of an enemy is presented. The climax left me in awe, quite passive in nature but deftly delivers the punch.

My views: This is the First book in the 7 series by the author . There are lots of plot twist but the story telling is simple.  The author has touched the current  political scenario and the relationships  with our neighbour countries . The writting style of the author is also beginner friendly . The book will not give you goosebump but it has little bit thrilling in it .

I would love to give it 2.5/5 .

A crime? Yeah! A series? Yeah!! To be frank, thanks to good books like these which actually make me to continue reading thriller and stuffs as am not really a lover of this genre.

To say about this particular book, ‘Sniper’s Eye’, the plot completely revolves around an Indian army officer who is trapped and surprised to finds some rather big holes which occurs even I the Army. I may not say that the book has completely held me from the beginning to the end. The action is at peak, yet a little more spice will have worked wonders as it is a fiction. For readers, who want something more serious, some bloody-killings, action packed, then just go for this without any second thought.

Neglecting the surface plot, when you dig deeper into the story, you are of course going to be welcomed by some hard realities, which you will need to digest. With ‘corruption’ as its core theme, the plot unfolds with rather an unbelievable tale. I personally have loved the way the story ended. And Man, wait for the second book. Looks like it has got something great which will blow our minds off.

The Sniper’s Eye is a thriller novel that takes you in to a world of wars between countries , corruption within the agencies , manipulative media and how one person leaves his happy life to save his close ones. The story begins when Aaditya and Zoya are in a mall in Mumbai , heading to a movie when the person walking in front of him collapses. He was shot cold blooded and that creates a commotion in the mall. Aaditya , aware that a shot from such a distance could only be possible if the sniper used a riffle with a suppressor. The starts scanning the upper floors of the mall and something catches his attention. He rushed to the third floor and the adrenaline rush in his veins makes him take down one of the sniper. The sniper is dead.
A series of such sniper attacks rock the nation and Aaditya is welcomed by the ghost of his past. But who is behind these attacks and what is Aaditya hiding ?

The story is gripping and builds the right amount of tension in the beginning. The narration goes on smoothly and the story progresses in a rapid speed. But the thrill that we usually expect from such novels loses it’s charm mid-way. The amount of details and involvement of several issues make the novel a tad bit slow and you often find yourself being distracted from the plot. After a certain point of time , the story became predictable and till the end I was looking for a “thrill moment” that certainly this book lacked. The climax seemed rather elaborated and I was waiting for something to happen but it went flat.

The characterization is good and the author did a great job in shaping them. I personally liked the part where Aaditya is concerned about his loved ones and how Zoya bravely stands next to him. We often read about the hard life of army but the tales of their families and struggles are often unsung. This element made this book a little different from others.

Lacks the high adrenaline thrill that I was expecting but you can pick this one up if you enjoy stories filled with action and political tensions. A decent read.

Sniper's is a suspense thriller set in Mumbai . It a story of Aditya who was ex army officer who has to return to his old world after lying low some years . The story begin with a terror attack in one of the malls in Mumbai where Aditya and his girlfriend Zoya has gone for a movie.
The story starts unfolding from that point onward and throwing light on Aditya's past and how it entangles with his present.
The book deals with many modern day issues such as tension between the countries , corruption, political influences , drugs and etc. The story line was nice and the narrative ,smooth . The fight sequences are well described and the language used is simple . The character of Aditya was well researched and developed in beautiful manner . However I feel the other characters of the book was not given a detailed background and depth
Overall it was nice book and I recommend it for the people who enjoys a thriller novel

Sniper's Eye by Mainak Dhar is a fast-paced thriller set in Mumbai. The action thriller throws light on various important issues that you normally don't think about. The life of soldiers in the arms who are exploited by powerful people is shown through the messed up life of Aaditya. The reasons why some people are compelled to become terrorists despite having other plans is shown through the life of the sniper, Aman Karzai.

Things are not as they seem. The plotline of the book is intelligent and gripping. It establishes the fact that you cannot judge the book by its cover. The epilogue of the book left me a tad emotional. I liked the way the author evoked sympathy for Aman.

The book is sprinkled with twists and turns. The language is lucid and the narration is fast-paced. You can read the complete review at http://purbareviews.blogspot.com/2018...

"Perhaps, in different circumstances we would have been friends."
- SNIPER'S EYE

OVERVIEW:

It is written in the point of view of an ex- Indian soldier, named Aaditya Ghosh , now working in GRS International, whose life takes a 360 degree turn when the man in front of him gets shot ,while he was out on a date with his girlfriend Zoya, in the R-city mall, Mumbai. A series of incidents take place thereafter which like the waves on a sea shore wash away the castle of sand which Aaditya had built all these years . Which force him back to his dark past, the story grows more intense when his name gets updated on the kill list!

Grab this book to get on a thrilling journey with a lot plot twists that will keep you thinking, guessing and evoking overwhelming emotions!

STARTING WITH THE COVER & BLURB:

The cover was very appealing to my eyes. It remarkably showed the eye of the storm, the incident around which the story revolves. The blurb indeed was very intriguing.

THEME:

The book talks about corruption in our systems, drug dealing, terrorism, jihad, India-Pakistan political tensions and how young and poor kill and die in wars waged by old and rich!

.
This book is not one thing but many things, it evokes a wide variety of emotions throughout and is very mind-gripping .The way the story unfolds gradually, with the introduction of new characters will keep you hooked from the very beginning. The book is fast paced, the language is easy to read and understand.

.

Found it a little clichéd at some places, otherwise, it had been a wonderful book.

.
This is the first book of the 7even Series and I can’t wait to read the book that follows.

APPRECIATION FOR THE AUTHOR

The author has done a splendid task at causing bafflement as to who is the real enemy and who is a mere pawn in the colossal game of chess. He has certainly got the talent to make you sympathize with the supposed villain .

He has done a commendable job at setting up the scene, all the while a movie was playing in my head.
MY RATINGS: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
RECOMMENDATION:

I would recommend everyone to read it and especially if you are looking for something different from Indian genre norms.
HAPPY READING!

PS: The review is honest and unbiased.

Sniper’s Eye is a suspense thriller. The story starts with a bang. There is a secret and then a murder took place. There will be too much for you to think about.

The protagonist Aaditya Ghosh is a quiet man and very secretive about his past life. Then on a movie date, he witnesses a terror attack and get himself embroiled by killing a terrorist. He becomes a hero in the public and the media’s eyes but along with the fame his past also comes tumbling out to haunt him.

His name appears on the terrorist's hit list. Now he had a choice either to run away or to face the terrorists. He chose the latter option but there are more secrets in the story than the eyes meet.

All was well till now. The story line was real good. The author has well used the international politics of India, Pakistan and Afghanistan to carve out his own story.

But the author’s grip over the story start slipping from the second half. The thrill dies out and the suspense was revealed a little early. A book finishes on an ambiguous note as the real mastermind’s name was not revealed. The readers have to satisfy themselves that there were some powerful politicians behind it.

You can pick it up for good one time read but don’t expect too much.

Sniper's Eye was probably the best thriller in Indian Fiction that I've come across in all my time as a reader.

There was just enough adventure and suspense to make it the perfect afternoon read.

The characters were believable and we'll crafted, and though I felt there could've been a bit more of depth to them, they were all pretty well done.

The storyline was flawless and intriguing, with just enough suspense to keep you reading. It was exciting right from the beginning, and I had a lot of fun reading it.

I look forward to reading more from Mr. Dhar!

Sniper's Eye is a crime thriller which is unusually fast-paced and riveting in its style of writing. I finished it in a single seating because as soon as you finish a page, you want to jump to the next to find out what happened next! This is how gripping the novel is. It captures the prevalent political tensions between India and Pakistan along with the villainous influence of the politicians in it for serving their own interests. It also highlights the role of media and how it possesses the power to make or break anyone's career. The wrong people always leverage it to have an upper hand over the justice. The novel goes on to explain the fine difference between a mere killer and a hero. In the end, justice prevails and the truth triumphs over the trumpet of lies.

The character portrayal of Aaditya has been done really well. In fact, every sequence has been sketched and arranged perfectly. There is no break in the flow of thought. There is no gap between one incident and the other. In this manner, the author manages to hold his readers' attention. The description of the stark truth of drug trafficking left me wondering as to how to hide one misdeed, several crimes are committed. So many lives are sacrificed to get away with the punitive act. And the dignity of people is put on the stake as well.

It is a short and compelling book with an intriguing narrative. One who takes pleasure in reading a crime thriller must definitely go for this book. It wouldn't disappoint you and you can take my word for this!

Sniper's eye is an edge of the seat thriller that follows Aaditya Ghosh, an ex- military major living a simple life. The story starts with a bang when he and his girlfriend,Zoya are on a date and the person walking into them is shot to death. Aaditya being alert does what he is trained to in situations like this. All his efforts of living a normal get diminished to dust by one moment of instinct and all of sudden he is dragged into the very thing that he was so carefully got out of.

And then a series of sniper shooting of many upstanding defence officers start to take place leaving chaos and panic in its wake. A hit list is released by the terrorists and Aaditya's name is on that list. What will he do? Can he protect himself and the people he cares about? Or is there more to what he was been told? A clash between past and present which can shake the very existence of reality of his life.

Written in first person perspective,Sniper's Eye will keep you glued to the end of the book. The plot was fast paced and the author gave a good insight into various other subjects such as sniper training, India and Pakistan political tensions that has been going on for ages, military tactics, the ugly side of wars and many more.

A web of conspiracies and manipulations, this book is a excited action packed thriller through and through. Sniper's Eye being the first book in the 7even series is just the beginning of the exciting new adventures.

Sniper's Eye by Mainak Dhar, is a perfect blend of action, thrill, suspense, political drama, corruption and unpredictable twists and turns. I had already read author's previous novel 03:02, so eventually I had a very high hopes and he satisfied it completely.

This novel gives me such a beautiful experience that almost it's like watching a film because it makes me to visualize things as it is happening in front of me. The book starts with Aaditya Gosh, Ex Major in Indian army and Zoya, his current colleague in GRS International were dating each other during that a person shot in front of his eyes. The heroic activity he did got admired by public over there and he gets into the limelight of national media. From there things started to change his past undisclosed incidents are reopened and his lady and his surroundings get into trouble. Meanwhile to rescue them he gets into a trap made for him.

The story is narrated well and characterization made strongly by which story got more grip, each character had a unique role to play. The usage of simple vocabularies is an additional asset.

Overall, If Sniper's Eye is made into a movie it definitely do wonder as it showcased whole Mumbai through eye of a sniper.

P.S :- Wishing the author a great success to his other books in this series, also I'm eagerly waiting to read them as well.

A Sniper's Eye by Mainak Dhar is a gripping thriller novel with a strong appeal for fans of suspense and thriller novels. Aaditya Ghosh is the protagonist and the story revolves around him and is also narrated from his point of view. Aaditya is a former major in Indian Army and left his past behind due to some reasons and joined corporate sector. The story starts with Aaditya and his love Zoya's date in a shopping mall of Mumbai where a man is shot dead. Aaditya tries to save the life of people he loves by killing the terrorist and he becomes the person he left behind. His this heroic act gets him media attention which he never wanted. All his efforts to hide his past fails and his real identity is revealed. Not only this, his life gets in trouble when he comes to know that there are snipers attacks targeted at Army Officers. Will he be able to overcome these threat from Sniper Attacks. Will Zoya love her after knowing his dark past or not, will he be able to live a normal life, you'll have to read the book to know all these answers and there is so much in this book that you would love to read!

WHAT I LOVED IN THE BOOK:
I got to know a lot about struggles of Army officers and their families. I loved Aaditya's character a lot, how he uses his intelligence and his quick decision taking power in tough times. The characterization is good, the plot is intriguing and the storyline is really interesting. Suspense was maintained till the end and I found the book really engaging and action-packed! I loved the writing style of the author. I found the book cover and the title apt.

I would highly recommend this book to everyone as it was a thrilling read. I would give it 5/5 .

I received a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

If I were to describe Sniper's Eye in three words, I'd say: Crisp, Bold, Intense.

Plot: Aaditya Ghosh's movie date with his colleague Zoya Khan doesn't go quite as planned when a man gets shot in front of their eyes in a Mumbai mall. While everyone is panicked and busy getting shelters, Aaditya uncovers some truth about the shooting and gets himself involved with the incident. But the shooting doesn't stop there, in the next few days several retired army personnel around the country are killed in their residences, in front of their families. As the death toll rises, Ghosh finds himself tangled in the web of the incidents that are deadly and might cost him his life and that of his beloved ones. What's worse is his past life is out in the open, a life that he tried hard to get away from and start afresh. In order to survive and protect those he loves, he accepts to undertake a risky mission, what follows is quite a story to give you a chill!

Review: I was hooked to the book from the very beginning. The writing is pretty good with a subtle sense of humour and simplicity. I can't say that I have read many thrillers by Indian authors or those written in Indian context but this book thoroughly impressed me. The story is well written and the author has given sufficient attention to details but it never seemed like that the story was dragging on unnecessarily.

Here's what I liked the most about the book:

- The characters: The author has taken good care to develop his characters, not just the protagonist but the side characters as well. I particularly admired Ghosh's character. He has a stubborn strength in him to do whatever it takes to get his job done but is never arrogant about his abilities. Not once does he underestimate the capability of his enemies and handles every situation with both physical strength and intelligence. For someone, who has had a bloodied past and a fair share of griefs, Aaditya Ghosh is not your ordinary civilian but he is someone the readers can relate to. On the other hand, I loved how Zoya's character is created. She is someone who can stand up for herself instead of acting like a damsel in distress.

- The storyline: The story revolves around the sensitive issue of terrorism and India's eternal conflict with the neighbouring Pakistan. I loved how the author has woven the story where the thin line between good and evil often gets blurred out which in fact is how it works in reality. The political tension between the countries is captured perfectly. The story has shown that the problem is much deep rooted and definitely isn't as apparent as it seems.

- The life of the men in uniform: Dhar has depicted the condition of the people serving in the army realistically. He neither glorifies nor condemns them for what they do. It's a job they have to do and most people don't even like killing and shedding blood and they are the ones who have to pay the ultimate price by either sacrificing their life or by carrying the guilt around for the rest of their lives.

- The role of the media: Quite obviously the media houses are shown in a negative shade and rightly so. They care very little beyond getting their 'big' stories and exclusive news-bytes but in the process, knowingly or unknowingly, they end up causing some damage. The harsh truth is that they don't take much time to condemn someone (without proper evidences) while they themselves had hailed the same person as a hero a while ago!

- Corruption: It is disgusting how many innocent lives are sacrificed because of the corruptions our politicians and bureaucrats get themselves into! Dhar has hit this exact spot in his story. While there is always honest individuals in the forces, there also is plenty of scumbags who can't think beyond their personal agendas and don't even bother killing innocent people to fulfill the same.

If there's one thing to complain about, I'd say it's the predictability of the story. Once things starts falling into place, it isn't that hard to understand who is the mastermind behind the entire scenario. I believe, the suspense could have been built more efficiently.

Besides, the story portrays how jihadis are born often because of the brainwashing and the wrong information that are fed to them! Aman Karzai's character is a prime example of this. Overall, within a span of mere 224 pages, the author has spun his story beautifully. This is the first book in the "7even" series and I will definitely look forward to read the next books as well.

It's been a while since I read a thriller and this work by Mainak Dhar is really worth spending time reading. I have not read any of the author's previous works and so I was not sure what to expect so I began reading it with no expectations... But it just kept me captivated such that I did not let go of the book till I could finish it.
A fast paced narrative, a language that's neither too simple nor too wordy and is right enough to keep my interest.
The cover of the book is very intriguing compelling to pick it up.
Also the blurb is descriptive enough to make you know what you are getting into without giving out too much of the story.
What I felt was missing from the work was that the ending felt a bit vague although the journey till then was quite interesting. I would have loved to read a more elaborate and thrilling ending that could have given a complete closure to the story.
All in all its a very thrilling experience to read the story and it has made me to decide to take up and read the author's earlier works too.
If you love stories that pull you into their world and thrill you then do pick this one up!

Verdict:

Mainak Dhar has stunned and awed me with this breathless piece action/drama/mystery/thriller. All I can say is that- bravo! Good attempt! We all know writing an action-packed novel is a very difficult job. Not only does the author has to pay strict attention to detail, action scenes, chases, the plot but also logically link everything to not break the fast pace that hooks in the audience. I think Dhar has done the job quite well.

The story revolves around Aaditya, who on his date with Zoya encounters the shooting of a man which in turn opens up the door to his past. He finds himself wrapped in a time crunch, on a race to stop terror, in the form of sniper attacks, from gripping the nation. The pace of the story is just right, not over the top at all. As a reader, I enjoyed the tension that the pages set in as the plot progressed. The characters were well described and served a role in shaping up of the novel, aiding the story to progress seamlessly. What I liked about Aaditya’s character was his two personas or better lives that he juggled and tried to separate. His old military ways clashed with his reinvention as an ordinary person.

Now coming to the writing, I don’t want to say that I was disappointed, but I wasn’t impressed much either. You see, words hold this imaginative knife, which when read can either gut the reader slowly, elongating the misery or just plunge and kill. Dhar’s story lacked that. I felt everything was served right for me to read. I would have loved more word plays, a bit of dramatic flair in action scenes, etc. But definitely, I will be on a lookout for the sequel to Sniper’s Eye. This debut author showed me promise, something that I love in upcoming authors.

It was an amazing day and I was out on a date with Zoya, that in itself was unusual because I go out of my way to maintain a distance from everyone, I don't have it in me to have relationships, be it friendships or dating but I was happy and wasn't going to question it.

Aadi was lost in his thoughts while waiting in line for a movie with Zoya when suddenly a gun shot is heard and the man in front of them crumbled onto the ground. His plan to lay low flew out of his mind with Zoya in dangrt and he jumped into action and this single act turned his life upside down.
All the demons from his past come knocking at his door and he needs to remember everything from his training as a commando to hang in there, so much is at stake and he can't loose it.

I love thrillers and this is a perfect set up, first in a series, Mumbai is rocked with the attacks and the tension between India and Pakistan is at an all time high, the nation is stunned with these events and gripped with fear. Aadi finds himself entangled and he has to help if he wants his loved ones safe, but the more he digs, the more he is horrified at how deep the corruption runs.

Follow him on this journey and you won't be disappointed.

The Sniper's Eye' by Mainak Dhar is a suspense thriller fiction. This is the first book in the series of seven books. The story is quite gripping and interesting as well.

The protagonist, Aaditya Ghosh was out on a date with Zoya. All of a sudden there was a sudden shot, a high-calibre one, which was silent. And the man in front of him fell dead. Aaditya gets himself involved in the incident. Will he be able to save himself, his loved ones? Read the book to know what happens next.

The plot is filled with actions and thrill. However, the pace of the story at some places was a bit slow as it was very descriptive. Also, the thrill element which one would expect in this book was a little lacking. The first half of the book seemed more interesting than the second half. Nevertheless, the characters are well developed. And the narration is beautifully done too. Another fact which makes the book intriguing is that it highlights the theme of international politics.

I am looking forward to reading the next books in this series.

I got to read another amazing thriller, the day i finished reading 03:02 i was sure, i will love the other works too by the author... and Sniper's eye did not disappoint..
The book tells the story of Aaditya ghosh, who is dragged into a conspiracy when he tries to save people from a sniper in a mall...
As the story moves forward he realises that not only he but those close to him are also in danger and not only that but someone is killing honest officers in cold blood... on the face of it, this appears to be a terror attack by the neighbouring country.... but turns out something much bigger and much sinister.... what is the actual problem going on? How is it solved? These questions will be answered when you read the book..
Later, Aaditya, discovers that not everyone who appears to be a enemy is an enemy and not everyone who appears a well wisher is so...
A person who Aaditya believes is an enemy works with him to blow the whole sinister plot...
Aaditya is the hero of this story, but he also has a dark past that he does not want the world to know.... what is the secret of the past? Read the book to know it...
The story is a very well thought out fight between good and evil...
Also, really well mixed with the thriller part there is a sweet love story of Aaditya and Zoya which i personally loved a lot..
This book was a really edge of the seat thriller and this is just the first part of a series, now i will be waiting eagerly for the next book in the 7even series....
Highly recommended for the fans of thrillers...

Reminded me of Dulce et decorum est, meaning : death for one's country is sweet. The poem contradicts its name.
Dulce et Decorum Est

BY WILFRED OWEN

Bent double, like old beggars under sacks,

Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge,

Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs,

And towards our distant rest began to trudge.

Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots,

But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind;

Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots

Of gas-shells dropping softly behind.

Gas! GAS! Quick, boys!—An ecstasy of fumbling

Fitting the clumsy helmets just in time,

But someone still was yelling out and stumbling

And flound’ring like a man in fire or lime.—

Dim through the misty panes and thick green light,

As under a green sea, I saw him drowning.

In all my dreams before my helpless sight,

He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning.

If in some smothering dreams, you too could pace

Behind the wagon that we flung him in,

And watch the white eyes writhing in his face,

His hanging face, like a devil’s sick of sin;

If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood

Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,

Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud

Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,—

My friend, you would not tell with such high zest

To children ardent for some desperate glory,

The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est

Pro patria mori.

The book talks about true patriotism that doesn't come from violence. A state, a country, a religion isn't our enemy but violence is.
The book is written in a formal writing style with a single point of view. The plot flows smoothly and doesn't get boring.
I loved the theme of the book which revolves around Indian politics, vengeance and corruption. It is a reality check. It is the first book in the 7even series. The plot is a bit predictable but it keeps you hooked nevertheless.
One thing I didn't like about the book is a tinge of sexism in some of the words that were used in the book such as usage of sissy to convey cowardice. And there were some dramatic and unrealistic scenes which didn't quite fit. Loved the character development of the terrorist in charge and the protagonist.
Overall, it was a good read.

Book Title: Sniper's Eye
Author: Mainak Dhar
Format: Paperback

Book Title:
The title of the book, ' Sniper's Eye ' directly hints the reader that it's an action thriller story.

Book Cover:
The cover image of the book is the close-up of the rifle eye to target the victim.

Plot:
The story starts with the male protagonist, Aaditya Ghosh, working in an MNC going on a date with his lady love, Zoya who is also his colleague. They both visit a mall and the date turns out to be an unpleasant one because a man in the mall gets killed and thus the incident creates confusion and chaos around. Aaditya follows the shooter to catch him and ends up killing a terrorist. He is later arrested by the local police and during the interrogation phase, a senior police official apologizes and releases Aaditya for the arrest as the charges are proven wrong.

After the incident, he becomes a superhero in the public and his and in parallel his name is on the top list of victims by the terrorist gang who wanted to disturb the lives in the city. He conceals his past with Zoya and dreams about a good life with her. After this incident and on some mysterious grounds, Aaditya is named as children killer and the media also propagates the same. Aaditya gets completely cornered in the political and terrorist drama. How does he come out of it is what the story is about.

What I like:
1. The plot of the book
2. Interesting and gripping narration in the first person
3. Many subplots that made the book a page turner

What I didn't like:
The main mystery got revealed after the story reached more than half, and thus the next chapters looked dragging that looked distracted from the story as there was nothing else to reveal.

Characters:
The protagonist, antagonist and the supporting characters are plotted extremely well each of the characters supports the other as the story progresses.

Narration:
An interesting narration is found.

Language & Grammar:
No complex words or vocabulary is found making the read a simple one.

My Final Verdict:
A good action thriller but less impactful.

Book Title: 3/5
Book Cover: 3/5
Plot: 3/5
Characters: 3/5
Narration: 3/5
Language & Grammar: 3/5

Final Rating: 3/5

Aaditya Ghosh goes on a date with his girl-friend Zoya .He was shocked to see a man shot dead in front of his eyes. Neither he backed off or panicked. He knows what had happened and immediately he became a man of action. Aaditya was taken under custody by the police for his actions. He had no idea that his actions would get himself on the kill list of the murderers. What did he do? Who is he?
Aaditya, an ex-servicemen.
A serviceman who wishes to have a normal and pleasant life ditching his past memories. But will the past leave him behind? Would a trained army men walk out of a sniper’s attack which happens in front of his eyes? The present walks him through the past. He has to fight the present to beat his past, in order to have a clean future.

This is my first book by Mainak Dhar. I liked the plot thoroughly which made me to finish up the book very fast. I was expecting the book to be a complete action packed sequence but it showed me the other side of a dedicated serviceman.
A fast paced novel at the start and turned out to be a slow but with a reasoning narration on the backdrop. The narration is unlike the other thrillers. A practical approach all the way down the book. The narration was not hero centric entirely which very much attracted my attention towards the story. Servicemen who believes in his instincts and army training to survive at crucial times. I thoroughly liked that thought.
Be it our man or different country, everyone is a victim of political affairs. Corruption plays silently even with the armed forces. No one could be spared. The deep side of servicemen life was put forth powerfully in this novel. Aman who intend to be a good man was fed with false news who in turn becomes a jihadi. They are fed only with rage and vengeance. Whatever they do is for the country and not for them. But still they get caught up with the dirty politics and lose their dignity.
The book showed up the braveness of family members of public service people. Aaditya will inspire you in lot many ways. The plot was composed and coined perfectly throughout the book. The second half of the book was tad slow but that was because of practicality of the events. A known enemy is better than an unknown enemy. Aaditya and Aman teamed up at the right time which made the plot to get back on the wheels of thriller.
The reality of the media buzz was shown in this book efficaciously. One day they praise us and the other day they degrade us. All they want is breaking news for the people rather than reliable news. This book when compared is a short novel but author brilliantly touched and covered all the zones of thriller book would have. I extremely loved the kind of pay check delivered to Sai by our man Aaditya. The execution of the second half was genius as the author revealed who the traitor on mid-way but still hooked up us with the story interestingly with the well planned trap. The essence of humour at many places gave the light feel not only to the characters but also to the readers.
Author Mk Dhar guest appearance in the novel has to be mentioned here. On a track I felt I was watching a film with his presence. An intelligent move by the author.
Overall “Sniper’s Eye” is a well written novel with detailing of men in uniform and their sacrifices. A thriller ride which had its fast and slow track at the right moment.

Snipers Eye by Mainak Dhar is a book about ex army Aditya Ghosh who was out for a movie with his wife Zoya when he sees that an old couple is attacked and Aditya dives into help.

News channels everywhere are showing his name and along with it comes his history which not many people know about including his wife Zoya.
.
I had a wonderful experience of listening to the book in audiobook format in Hindi.
.
The narration and the establishing the characters of the Book by the modulations of voices was a delight to hear. It was almost as if I was watching or listening to a movie with sounds of breathing, gun fire and splashing water and the noise of traffic captured so beautifully.
.
The narration is in hindi which makes the book more accessible to hindi speaking people and readers who wish to try audiobooks in a new way. Not just the narrator but every background sound in the book can be heard. You should definitely give the #headfone app a go.
