Ed Piskor had been cartooning professionally in print form since 2005, starting off drawing American Splendor comics written by Harvey Pekar. The duo continued working together on 2 graphic novels, Macedonia, and The Beats. Ed began self publishing Wizzywig after developing a huge interest in the history of Hacking and Phone Phreaking. 3 volumes, making up 3/4 of the full story, have been published to date.
Recently Ed had designed the characters for the new Adult Swim series, Mongo Wrestling Alliance.
I've kind of jumped in mid-stream with these "Coles Notes"-style classic X-Men accelerated retellings, I enjoy the consistent art and pacing though and will no doubt circle back to the preceding volumes as well as continue forward.
A comment on these: the continuity is way off. Most times it's just a simple rewriting, but with this volume it was too distracting and took my review down a star. The art, though, is excellent. And it's not as if the story isn't entertaining, it's just that I've read the originals, and that's not the way it went in most cases. With some stories, the changes in continuity are noted in the footnotes at the end, but sometimes they're not. I'm still interested in this title, and I would recommend it, but don't use it as any true measure of how the stories actually went.
