About the author

Geoff Johns originally hails from Detroit, Michigan. He attended Michigan State University, where he earned a degree in Media Arts and Film. He moved to Los Angeles in the late 1990s in search of work within the film industry. Through perseverance, Geoff ended up as the assistant to Richard Donner, working on Conspiracy Theory and Lethal Weapon 4. During that time, he also began his comics career writing Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. and JSA (co-written with David S. Goyer) for DC Comics. He worked with Richard Donner for four years, leaving the company to pursue writing full-time.

His first comics assignments led to a critically acclaimed five-year run on the The Flash. Since then, he has quickly become one of the most popular and prolific comics writers today, working on such titles including a highly successful re-imagining of Green Lantern, Action Comics (co-written with Richard Donner), Teen Titans, Justice Society of America, Infinite Crisis and the experimental breakout hit series 52 for DC with Grant Morrison, Greg Rucka and Mark Waid. Geoff received the Wizard Fan Award for Breakout Talent of 2002 and Writer of the Year for 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 as well as the CBG Writer of the Year 2003 thru 2005, 2007 and CBG Best Comic Book Series for JSA 2001 thru 2005. Geoff also developed BLADE: THE SERIES with David S. Goyer, as well as penned the acclaimed “Legion” episode of SMALLVILLE. He also served as staff writer for the fourth season of ROBOT CHICKEN.

Geoff recently became a New York Times Bestselling author with the graphic novel Superman: Brainiac with art by Gary Frank.

Aquaman, lange Jahre der Ostfriese der Superhelden, ist spätestens mit dem Run von Geoff Johns mächtig aufgewertet worden.
Die Story ist alles anders als unterkomplex und verzichtet auf die sonst leider häufig vorkommenden Redundanzen, in denen alles zum dritten oder fünften Mal erklärt wird, damit auch der abgelenkteste Leser (freundlich formuliert) den Faden nicht verliert.
Zur ansprechenden Story kommt wirklich tolle Artwork, dieser Band hat wirklich Spaß gemacht!

Sin duda alguna El Nuevo Universo DC le ha sentado genial a Aquaman. Y este tomo, que recopila Aquaman 13-14, Aquaman Año Cero, y Justice League 15, no hace más que confirmar que en DC se han tomado muy en serio lo de poner a Aquaman en el Top Superhéroes, estando a la altura de Green Lantern o Flash.

Este tomo cierra el arco argumental de "Los Otros" con relativo acierto, dejando temas abiertos para más adelante.

Enseña un poco los orígenes del nuevo Aquaman con una historia poco novedosa. Cosa que en general me ha parecido bastante flojo en todos los Año Cero del NUDC.

Y empieza con "El trono de Atlantis", un nuevo arco argumental que parece muy muy potente y que llega a afectar a todo el universo DC de tal manera que involucra a La Liga de la Justicia en la trama.

Veremos como se desarrolla todo más adelante con el paso de Iván Reis por el nuevo dibujante Paul Pelletier dibujando el guión del siempre interesante Geoff Johns.

Mención especial a la Portada Alternativa de Justice League 15 USA dibujada al estilo japonés clásico por Billy Tucci.

Edición del cuarto tomo de Aquaman del Nuevo Universo DC (New 52) impresa en Argentina, reproduciendo el mismo contenido que la edición española (#0, 13, 14 y Justice League 15), que equivale al último capítulo de la saga Los Otros y los tres primeros del crossover El Trono de Atlantis. Incluye introducción y artículo "Juego de tronos", de Felip Tobar.

Sigo leyendo este Aquaman en los tomos argentinos y en paralelo el de Peter David de a puchitos. Por ahora sigue ganando el de Peter David por bastante, pero estos tomos tienen un no sé qué que hacen que la pase bien leyéndolos. Quizás es el sabor pochoclo marítimo.

Por fin sigo con uno de mis favoritos de este nUDC. Me gustaron más el segundo y el tercer tomo pero ha estado bastante bien la verdad (a excepción de un capítulo dibujado por alguien que no es Reis. Aquaman sólo puede dibujarlo Reis o me enfadado no respiro y me hago pera)
