Love is not having to hold back . . . but will she ever truly let him in?

Avantika is an investment banker, an ambitious go-getter and the exact opposite of Deb-a corporate professional turned failed writer, turned scripter of saas-bahu serials.

They've been together for ten years, surviving everything from college to rave parties to annoying best friends, including Shrey, who has no respect for personal boundaries, and Vernita and Tanmay-the annoying yet enviable 'it' couple who seem to have it all.

Now Avantika wants to take the next step. But will Deb be able to catch up? Or will it rip them apart? No matter how hard he tries, Deb can't convince Avantika that he's the one for her. Not as long as she is broken and her past looms in the background-pushing her, troubling her, goading her to question if their love is enough.

Will Deb be able to find their perfect place?

The Perfect Us is love's struggle to find a happily ever after. . .

Worst read of all times!!!

Not picking up another book by this author.

The story is written over 63 chapters for nothing.
The book talks about Avantika & Deb who married against the wishes of Avantika's parents; her brother Tanmay married to Deb's best friend, Vernita; Shrey, another Deb's best friend who struggles with him in writing TV scripts.
In short, after a few long chapters would the reader get engaged in lots of arguments regarding 'it is okay to not have a baby after marriage' between Avantika, Deb and Shrey. Shrey's dialogues are pathetic, not at all modern or funny as it is supposed to be.
All of a sudden, after a few long chapters the couple suddenly wants kids when it is seemingly too late for them.
Then the story drags on and on with cringeworthy punchlines; dialogues that are just trying too hard which turn out to be offensive rather than being funny. Nothing is funny when it comes to the sensitive issues regarding abortion, IVF and difficult pregnancies. Even if it is happening to them, the way it is written is way too off the mark to trigger the nerve of the reader.
Deb is plain chauvinistic & sexist.
😣The worst part? Making a fake female profile ID using his wife's pic at a LESBIAN CHAT SITE just to chat anonymously with other women is NOT ACCEPTABLE !!! Every character's nature is very indecisive, especially Avantika's.
The author seems lost here and there from the very beginning, tries to insert something/anything to prolong the story(even my own daydreaming during the whole year would not take up that too many pages) which makes the story really boring and seem to be trying my patience till the very end.
No emotional attachment no matter how much I wanted to feel about the unfortunate events that the author desperately tries to build up. Even the romance seems too trying that it wears out all the characters involved and the one reading it.
The characters seem immature, unromantic, detached, unrealistic.
😔 I do not want to rate this book. 😯 I would recommend you to pick up some other book.
🤐 Not worth your time and money.
*Again, one of the unfortunate first reads.

Never thought I would be giving 2 stars for a Durjoy Dutta's book. It was an okay-ish story with unnecessary drag. It could have easily been 100 pages but he had to write the same story for 400 pages. Wow. I loved the unborns more than the actual protogonists. Such a disappointment.

The perfect us by Durjoy Datta is a heartwarming beautiful tale of Avantika and Deb. It is a story of a couple despite being at odds sometimes love each other unconditionally. The story starts with Avantika asking Deb to start their family by having a child and Deb declining her as he is too afraid to become a dad. He is supported in his decision by his best friend Shrey who cracks hideous jokes about having a child. But after some time he decides to go by her wife’s wish and they decide to extend their family.

After so many struggles they finally get pregnant and their happiness knew no bound. They were not the only one who was overwhelmed by the news. Shrey who hated children until now suddenly started loving his best friend's child as if he were his own. His contribution in taking care of Avantika and selflessly loving the unborn child is what took my heart. I really loved his character and I hate the author for eliminating him from the end of the book without any reason. They were all happy in their small family and the twist occurs….

I really loved this book. At the end of the book, I almost cried and I had to read the whole climax twice to confirm what I read was right. The narration is pretty good and the plot of the story was amazing. I liked the story and the way the author has portrayed it. The cover is also fitting for the novel.

The author takes the readers on a journey of unconditional love between Deb and Avantika and the struggles they have to go through when they decide to have a child.

It is a fantabulous story indeed. Even if you haven’t read the first book, the brief of happenings has been beautifully elaborated in this book to make us understand the story better.

Brilliant narration about the stronger bond they share between them. It also touches upon the love of the siblings, parents, and friends. Untold Pasts and insights into what is the situation faced by a writer in the Television Industry.

Various techniques involved in welcoming parenthood has been well researched and well placed.

The author reflects on his masterpiece by giving an in-depth about the characters. The way things flow one after the other in the story is captivating to the core.

I loved the epilogue which makes you feel Awww.

**Warning: this text may contain spoilers** Basically it's a book about a couple struggling to have a family both psychologically and physically but aren't able to because both of them have some health issues. They finally overcome it somehow and have a happy ending.
I shall put forth my views in the form of points:

1. It's a book that you'd read when you're bored AF and then forget about it; not something that'd make you feel "Ohhh I gotta read that book again after few months and enjoy it" Nope. You read it and keep it THE FUCK AWAY!

2. The setting of the novel is completely Indian. Like total typical indian. Which was kind of a turn off for me.

3. There was gaali-galoch which I didn't appreciate but I think it was written to make it more relatable yk all fuck you and bhenchod gaalis. I think that's what the youth wants. Gaali has become a part of our lives but when I took the book in my hand, I wasn't expecting it, so yeah minus points for that.

4. Sex. Explicit TMI. I thought Chetan Bhagat alone had the copyright for that. Maybe since it's about a family trying to conceive, Durjoy HAD to write about it. I haven't read any other book of his so I'm not sure if he uses it on a regular basis. I'll give him the benefit of doubt there.

5. The comic elements sometimes were silly. Like somethings that *I* would've written in my short stories and not something that I expected out of a famous author. Some were just too cliché- talking about how idiotic indian serials are.

6. Dramatisation. Uff. I get you need to make the story gripping and make the reader involved but to what extent? At some point I was confused if I'm reading a novel or watching an indian serial.

7. There was not a single mic drop line. Remember the "And I ran." line at the end of The Kite Runner? It was so fucking powerful. Those three words just blasted me away but there were no such lines or such effective lines here.

8. There were no twists. I mean yeah there were twists but they weren't THAT effective and also quite obvious.

9. The story didn't move me as much as it did the other readers on Instagram. Maybe I couldn't connect with the characters' agony since I'm not a parent yet but hey the other readers were young too! And they totally got hooked! So idk if the problem is with me or them.

10. As an echo to my first point, I'll just say it's a story just like any other wattpad love story. Sappy love. Struggle. Fight. Bla bla and happy ending.

I know I haven't mentioned anything good about the novel and I honestly don't know why I'm not able to think of anything good about it. Maybe I had high expectations from him when I saw his captions and his books being on BEST SELLERS list for weeeeeeks! But I was majorly disappointed by the book. It could be my bias towards American and British novelists but I just felt he wasn't as good as I thought he would be.
This led me to conclude that as long as the story is relatable to the indian society, has a good amount of erotica, has love and a freaking happy ending- it'll work. It'll make you a freaking best seller author! That's all. All the creative script can go into the gutter.

A heart wrenching story of a failed writer who astonishingly got to marry the love of his life, but what comes after will really test there relationship to the core.
Debashish Roy a young writer, married to an over-achieving wife Avantika has a decision to make that introduces there relationship into testing waters. The decision is about, having a child after 10 long years of relationship.
The story starts with there argument about this topic and shows how often he was trying to avoid this topic. Deb's best friend Shrey is a real asshole as all friends are, providing various irrelevant analogies to why he should not be having a baby. With the drama extending and exhausting Deb finally realizes that to give another chance to there relationship he has to do this for his wife. He has to take that leap of faith and trust there bond.So when they finally decide to have a baby, they hit another roadblock. This time there own bodies against them. As things begin to unravel (I am not going to reveal much) they understand the importance of communication in a relationship and to understand that there is nothing called as "Secrets" while you are in a relationship.
Moving forward to the point where they finally become parents thanks to medical sciences (a hint) ,but life throwing another puzzle for them to solve. This time there perseverance and emotions begin to wither. But as they say time heals everything, you just need to be patient.
A book well-written with many sub-plots and anti-climaxes to keep you hooked for the better part of your time. In my opinion one of the few romantic novels that I liked without getting bored because of the style of writing that we generally see in Indian Authors. Nevertheless, a book worth your time and love.

What was this author thinking when writing this bad piece of utter boredom, is my exact thought, while going thru these intolerable torture. One of the stupidest things I ever read in this lifetime. The book started with protagonist-a weird couple's discussions & plans for their still not conceived potential children, up to 100 pages, their efforts for pregnancy, then pregnancy & complications & delivery with complications. By mid of book itself, I was zapped beyond limit, wishing the book to end as soon as possible so that I can pick up something else, sensible to read. My bad!! Because, once I pick up something, I have to read till the final line & finish it & this book I have just picked up as new 2018 release. Sheer waste of time reading this nightmare!! This is just a pregnant woman's or couple's beginner's guide to procreation (& stupid guide at that) till start to finishing line. I am hesitating to give even a one star. 'Pathetic' is the word. 👎👎👎👎

I have read other novels from this author and didn't like his writing style. I read "Of course I love you..." and decided never to read another novel from him.

This book was suggested by a dear friend and at first, I denied but then I gave it a shot and to my surprise I absolutely loved it. It was an emotional roller coaster for me. I loved both the leading characters. The couple, their friends and family went through the journey of the grief, happiness, hope, and love and I felt as if I was going through the same with them through each page of the book. At one point in time, I thought I was standing in the room with the characters and wanted to hold them.

*Book Review :: The Perfect Us by Durjoy Dutta*
First of all Kudos to DD for exploring the genre of Parenthood & the struggles involved in it. Any couple contemplating having kids could get some learnings out of this book.
Being a new parent himself, DD has beautifully described this indescribable madness called parenthood.
Even though this book is targeted to a particular set of audience yet it’s on the bestseller list owing to its capacity of being a page turner.

_PROS_
*Could relate to it at many levels being a new parent myself & have witnessed what it’s like to be a NICU parent
*Lot of tear jerking scenes
*Apt amount of twists
*Mostly fast paced narration
*Very funny dissection of Indian serials’s storyline
*The last 50 pages are mind-blowing!
*I absolutely loved the ending and could relate to it
*The book does justice to parents who often lose babies - miscarriages, abortion- choose never to talk about it. The way the grief is described touched my heart.

_CONS_
*Extremely cliched
*Trying very hard to be funny yet the jokes are lame though the emotional side of the book makes up for it
*Lot of references to previous books- This can’t be your first book, you have to read the previous Deb Avantika stories to understand a lot of character traits & scenes
*Deb & Avantika are too good to be true kind of couple, the way the tension builds between them in that Paritosh scene & the way it amounts to a nothing, was a disappointment, it could have been so much better
*Story is a tad bit slow
*too many inferences to the reality-Durjoy’s life-Rayna, anagram, instagram, scriptwriter for serials and so on

Overall it’s a good book 😊 Did keep me hooked.

SYPNOSIS :
The book is based on a couple preparing for the next stage of their lives when complications and challenges step on and soon all their plans get pretty hard to achieve.Avantika is a beautiful and talented investment banker who is as good at numbers as she is at drawing the male attention. She is quite successful at her job and is the epitome of beauty with brains.
It is in college that she meets Deb and falls in love with him. Nobody ever thought that they’ll be a couple and yet they fell irrevocably in love with each other.
Deb is a corporate professional turned failed writer turned script writer for saas-bahu serials. He isn’t much of a looker and his bank balance also doesn’t have much to boast of.
Of late, Avantika has been craving for kids while Deb just isn’t ready. He seems to think that the two are enough for each other and there is no space for anyone else.
REVIEW:
The trajectory of my interest in this book kept wavering. There were times when I didn't wanted to read but at some pages it got very interesting. The climax was a little predictable for me but it gave a nice conclusion to the story. If you like contemporary reads you can surely pickup this book because I think it is a good romance novel with glimpses of marriage life.

“He was proud to have done one thing right in his life. He loved her and he loved her like no one loved anyone. That was something that would never change. They would always be enough for each other.”
– Durjoy Datta, The Perfect Us

A heartwarming story of protagonist couple Deb and Avantika despite being odd sometimes love each other unconditionally . Preparing for the next step of there lives and gearing up for parenting they faced lots of ups and downs entirely different from what they planned . But the decent conclusion made the entire tragedy too bliss .

The best part of the book is beside all the imperfections it is perfect because the couple being imperfect become Perfect together . With lots of twist and turns it get intresting and each emotion can be felt in words .

Cover of the book is simple yet splendid . It's apprecting the way author has created plots with suspense and intense climax . Whole story is engaging with lots of emotional rollercoaster and indeed page turner for sure .

The ending is very catching with sense of completeness and felicity . Must read for every to - be - parents and couples to learn staying together beside every complications uncertainties and misfortunes .

When i bought this book i expected a lot from it . But after reading the first 3 or 4 pages I was completely disappointed. I didn't like the narration of the book and flow was not good. The writing style for me was a disappointment.
..
The story revolves around deb and avantika (there are also some non interesting supporting characters) who are already married for 9 or 10 years and are debating on the topic whether they should have a child or not . Avantika wants a child but Deb doesn't want coz he thinks that the child will divide the love between him and his wife (which doesn't makes sense to me) . Deb have a very close friend of him name Shrey (or name stars with S) ,, with whom he shares each and everything and also Shrey brainwashes Deb a lot of times that a child will be a problem and they should drop the idea ..😑😑
..
At last they had a girl child (in between lot of things happened)......
........
I personally didn't like the story but its completely my opinion,,..someone might be able to relate to this plot .. and also like this book

According to me, the best part about the perfect us is it actually seems like durjoy's true story he have used Avantika's name in there which was super cute...
The way he have expressed Deb's feeling about being a father was everything.
The way he have characterized Deb and Avantika is just perfect.
How Deb handle thinks about Avantikas past is just perfect no one would have done the same, knowing about your wives abortion before marriage is a pretty perfect.

Overall the book made me feel like whatever your past was but your "the one" will always be able to get you out of it and will be there for you with full support. And no matter how or what you are "your one" will always find you amusing as well as Loving...

One line review: Tale of TRUE LOVE
Another book of Deb and Avantika as protagonist and as usual book was a good read. Characters are deep and I felt familiar with them because I have read all his old books. Deb and Avantika felt like family and Shrey like an old friend.. Everyone wishes for a friend like Shrey.. Bit long but book keeps you engrossed till the end.. I loved the stories which Deb and Shrey wrote for television serials in the book.. To the last book makes you emotional and I literally cried to the end.... But I loved the ending..Language is easy and author has improved with his every book.. And like every Durjoy book...I loved it.

The main story is practical but very dramatic
And the book is only interesting after pg 150 and the total length is 350.
It is majorily predictable and boring only some places are interesting.
Out of 350 only 100 pg is what is worth reading.
Actually the book is stretched without any reason
But the ending is very good and the climax is kind of unexpected.

What can I even say about this story ...like few months back I was said that I might have thalassemia for which I can't have a baby in the future (I don't have one .. doctor assumed) ...just hearing that broke my heart ...I cried ..even tho I am not in a age to have one ... seeing Deb and Avantika struggling to have a child and when you actually get one ..you hear that it's a twin and one of them is already dead..the pain you feel is heart breaking ...I am glad how the story ended ..in a good way not with a really really bad ending ... honestly speaking at the beginning is was a bit bore but as you get attached with the story you feel the characters....for me it was 9.8/10 .. cutting 0.2 is only because it was a bit usual story ...like it's common now a days ..and also maybe that's why I could relate better ...
To the people who are planning on reading it .. please be patient and be strong cause you gonna have a emotional rollercoaster with this ...
HAPPY READS!! 📖

I have read of course I love you and fell in love with Deb & Avantika. Continuing their story after this long felt really nice. It was like I was reading their personal diary. Shrey is the one character you enjoy no matter what. Everyone needs a friend like Shrey in their life.

Coming back to Deb & avantika... Whatever they go through feels very personal and I felt like I was listening on to their conversations and felt as if I was also going through the process with them.

Durjoy Datta's writing was amazing... The way he moulded Deb and Avantika's story was amazing. There are few phenomenal lines where he talks about the love Deb and Avantika share... Makes your heart flutter.

I have read every book of durjoy and yet with every new one the author manages to just surprise us. The perfect us strikes the chord on an emotional level. I just fell in love with deb and avantika all over again. It is a definitely must buy. I have never ever read something like this till now. Durjoy has taken deb and avantika's story to a whole new level. The struggles and emotions are just bang on.

The best part of the book is that it is realistic. There is nothing that cant happen in the real life.

Is it just me or some of the characters in The Perfect Us resemble Friends characters? Let me explain.. Shrey reminded me of Joey. Deb's best friend and moves in with Deb and Avantika when they get pregnant. You remember how Chandler tells Joey in the last episode of Friends that he can move in with them whenever he wants and that they would have spare room for him above the garage? Deb and Avantika reminded me of Chandler and Monica. Avantika's brother Tanmay is like Ross. Vernita, the hot and happening, no prizes for guess, Rachel who is married to Avantika's (Monica) brother. Deb and Avantika (ahem, Chandler and Monica too) cant have babies, they go through IVF and are pregnant with twins (rings a bell?!).

And the similarities ends there. What starts next is one after another complications in the pregnancy. All the complications one can imagine! Not a great read for me. Its too much of a drag and i just wanted to finish the book.

Picked this up after I started following the author on Instagram. Totally not worth it! I was expecting a love story (Indian Mills & Boon type) between Deb and Avantika going by the title. The whole story revolves around their pregnancy and the complications.

32nd Book of 2023

There are days when you want to spend time with your bookshelf – and during one of these special moments, you find a book you ordered online years back but couldn’t read it due to other books piling up in the To-Be-Read list. A month back, I found Durjoy Datta’s book named “The Perfect Us” in my bookshelf which was released 5 years back. I had pre-ordered it so that I could read it before anyone else and see, here I am, talking about it after more than 5 years when the world has already read it. Haha! The book was released by Penguin in around 350-pages.

We know how public figures are socially available for us these days due to which we know when they get into relationship, marry and have kids. We also know their social circle through Insta stories etc. Durjoy has this very cool implementation of writing fiction where he tries to draft it in a way which represents his personal life due to which his readers always feel that it’s his own story. It has been more than a decade now – I have read all his books – and yet, I get confused if the story written by him is his own or a fictional attempt. “The Perfect Us” also falls in the same category.

Secondly, Durjoy ensures that as he is aging, he must write books for the people belonging to his age group itself. Hence, the life and challenges that he portrays directly resonates with the people in the same age-category as him. “The Perfect Us” speaks about the couple – Deb and Avantika (on whom Durjoy has already penned many books earlier) – who have finally considered becoming parents but unfortunately, due to physical and emotional reasons, they face a lot of challenges and hurdles in the process. Author tries to shed a light upon the life and lifestyle of such couples and parents who are going through a tough medical procedure which don’t only challenge them physically but their whole life starts revolving around the subject.

Author ensures that he talks about the modern facilities such as IVF, abortion and other practices which helps parents fight through difficult pregnancies. He beautifully describes the relationship that gets developed between parents and doctor in the process where the latter starts considering the parents’ success as their own personal milestone. Similarly, author has been able to reflect upon parents’ emotions right from the phase where they plan to have a child in their life. How they get attached to this non-existent baby to a phase where they first experience them in scan and eventually during last pregnancy months.

I would always ask my mother how do mothers get attached to the baby even before their birth and how do they miss them in case something unfortunate happens – This book has given all those answers to me. Along with this primary plot, Durjoy has also tried to prioritize the importance of having siblings and friends close to us in tough moments as they are the ones who makes it easier for us to move ahead in challenging moments. Similarly, there’s another plot with Deb and Avantika’s parents where we get to know the changing dimensions in the way this relationship is changing where at places- parents are like pillars whereas in few cases, they are enough toxic to not even make you feel as if you need them. Through the dialogues and conversations between them, Durjoy has tried to send the message to the new generation on how to manage them and when not to.

Well, as mentioned above, the book speaks about a lot of events which also provides messaging with it but the real problem lies with the length of the book. This 350-pages book could have been easily summed up within 150-pages itself making it more impactful and without losing any of the elements I mentioned in the review. Unfortunately, author keeps the whole book focused upon the parents’ challenge with no chemistry between both the main protagonists which makes it tough for the readers to go through the whole story with interest. It took me a month to finish this book because the plot is dragged so much with over-explanation and unnecessary irrelevant talks in between.

Yes, there are entertaining sections with the scripts Deb and Shrey are working over and their interactions with their colleagues. Similarly, there are few instances where the book really makes you smile reading about the thought process of characters in some situations. But these are not enough to keep us interested and excited. The twists and turns are definitely shocking and astonishing but they are not able to generate the same emotions within us. It sounds too plain. Even in the emotional moments of the story, we are not able to find ourselves controlling our tears. I am quite surprised how Durjoy couldn’t create even 1/10th part of the magic that he is capable of. Something has surely gone wrong. I give this book 1.5 stars out of 5 – Unfortunately!

Thanks..

A little story before we dive into the review, Durjoy Datta was one of the first Authors to introduce me to the books and novels. I remember buying his book named "The boy who loved" it was my first book. So after immersing myself amid the plots and ending, I felt something unique from what I have ever experienced. Leading me to buy most of his books because why not be broke in a satisfying way. I loved most of them and liked just a few. But no matter how many books Durjoy decides to publish he manages to stay at the top off my head every time.

I know I am a little late, a lot late actually, in buying "The Perfect Us". One of the things I like about the author is that he manages to dethrone books from their spot with his new releases. I couldn't get my hands on this book earlier but after I finally did I forgot why I couldn't get my hands on this book. Ironic. Anyways "The Perfect Us" was released in, woah, 2018. It is the most unique and a far cry from most Young Adult Romantic books I have read.

So the book starts by showing us the kind of relation Avantika and Deb have, we'll get to the characters further on. And as the book moves forward we see that the couple starts facing dilemmas. There is just a couple of threads from keeping this couple falling apart. But with Avantikas gloomy enigma there seems little that they can do to save their marriage. Will they be able to overcome everything or will they let everything go against each other? Read more to find out.

So coming to the characters, as we already know the mains are Deb and Avantika. But for their support, we also happen to see Shrey, Deb's best friend. Vernita and Tanmay, Deb's best friend married to Avantika's brother. So as I told you that I have read most of the books of Durjoy, I also want to bring into notice that Deb and Avantika are the oldest characters I have encountered. I have read books from the author where Deb and Avantika fall in love, where they try a corporate job, and things. So in a way, I was already familiar with their personalities. But with Shrey, initially, I thought he was vicious but then with his little not so subtle acts, I tended to like him.

Deb is the most paranoid character you will ever meet in a book. The thing about paranoia is that most people think it's just being scared about everything or questioning everything. Well, they aren't wrong but they aren't right either. The way the author has 'captured the essence' of the personality was just lovely and it felt completely relatable. But in another way, I saw Deb grow from rowdy college student, from authors previous books, to a paranoid lover. I guess time and pages change everyone. While Deb is like that, Avantika is the opposite. She had this goddess/domineering kind of vibe. Which I think was okay since my mind goes by the rule that "opposites attract" but then I would find myself wondering if her character was sometimes taking it too far or what. But who am I to judge.

These two characters affected me deeply throughout the book with their impulsive decisions and exhausting emotions. The plots were so shattering and intriguing that at times I would find myself shedding a few tears. The storyline had sudden twists from the very start of the book carrying it onto till the last. Making this one of the unforeseen books I have read. And if there is one thing I love about books, is their unpredictability. Having this book in my hand meant I was holding curiosity and after a few pages into the book I realized that I wasn't the most patient guy. I would often snoop a few paragraphs just to skip the buildup and get directly to the plot, which is wrong because buildups are there for a reason. I did this more often than not. And by the end of the book, I fought my instincts to be inquisitive and enjoyed a lot. I admit I might get curious over time about certain books or shows, and I might end up asking the internet about my eager reactions to that certain plot. But hey, I am a changed person now and I will let the build-up throw me off the cliff even if it is a small one.

The only way to sum up my emotions about this book is, It's filled with mystery, love, and twists and worth its 5 stars. Thanks for reading this article. I really appreciate it.

Durjoy Datta writes the romantic story in a better way and most of his book have become my favorites in romantic genre and with those expectations I picked this book to read but somewhere I was bit disappointed for the story seemed to be stretched and in many places there were plots related to arguments and all.
-
The story is about Avantika and Debashish Roy. Both meeting during college years, falling in love eventually and then getting married against the wishes of Avantika's parents and surviving ten years in the relationship. Now Avantika wants to go a step ahead and wanted to experience the motherhood but Deb doesn't want that as he thinks that both of them are Perfect to each other and thanks to Shrey who tries to convince Deb that having children means the previous freedom will be shorten and all the stuffs which parents don't get to enjoy after having children. But when Deb's best friend Vernita who is married to Avantika's brother, deliver the child, Deb feels that thing in him which convinces him that having children is good and that parenting will give him that responsibility of bringing up another human. So they both try but here's the twist that comes in the story. How much they try, they couldn't conceive the child. So what was the problem? Was there something that Avantika was hiding from Deb? Will they both have a child after Deb learns the past life of Avantika? Find out by reading this book which will make you feel that parenting is not a cup of cake for everyone...

Though this book is stretched but the author has tried to explain the parenting and what all difficulties they go through while conceiving and during the gestation period. Language is lucid without much difficulty in understanding and any one who wants to cultivate the habit of reading can start with this book. I don't know who all will like this book but if you are the fan of romantic genre, you can go with this book or if you are looking for the light read .

I thought it would be yet another breezy romance by Durjoy and would be similar to his earlier books but yet it was not and I was hit again and again and yet again with perfect people. Totally selfless people who wouldn't be thinking about themselves but about their friends and then some. It really seemed like Durjoy's own story and yet obviously it's expanded with too many horror stories and Durjoy has fully built a narrative to tug at your heartstrings continuously. To make you cry not once or twice but most of the time while reading the book. My rating wouldn't be 4 but 3.6 or something. It was a slow read and the characters were too perfect or too cringy or too on the nose.

I might have enjoyed reading this after all I finished the book but it wasn't a joyous read and even the end is revealed to be like a movie. It was nice and unlike others, I am not swearing off of Durjoy Datta just yet I have two more books by him and would decide after that. Till then Keep on Reading.

People who don't read generally ask me my reasons for reading. Simply put, I absolutely love reading, so I have made it my motto to Forever Keep on Reading. I love reading everything except for Self Help books, even occasionally. I read almost all the genres but YA, Fantasy, and Biographies are the most read. My favorite series is Harry Potter, but then there are many more books I adore. I have bookcases filled with books that are waiting to be read so I can't stay and spend more time on this review, so remember I loved reading this and love reading more, you should also read what you love and then just Keep on Reading.

🖋️📖No: of pages : 350
Avantika is an investment banker, an ambitious go-getter and the exact opposite of Deb - a corporate professional turned failed writer, turned scripter of saas-bahu serials. They've been together for ten years, surviving everything from college to rave parties to annoying best friends including Shrey, who has no respect for personal boundaries, and Vernita and Tanmay - the annoying yet enviable 'it' couple who seems to have it all!
🖋️📖
Right from the start, the story seems a bit dragging though! Deb was always proud to have done one right thing in his life and that was falling in love with Avantika! He felt they both were enough for each other and thinks Avantika feels the same way too. In the almost perfect life of Deb and Avantika, there is something brewing and little did Deb know something was about to change everything between them. That there would be someone else who might threaten to rip them apart. Avantika wants to take the next step. But will Deb be able to catch up? No matter how hard he tries, Deb can't convince Avantika that he is the one for her. Not as long as she is broken and her past looms large - troubling her to question if their love us enough!
🖋️📖
I would recommend this book to everyone who are ready-to-be parents! This book is definitely an eye-opener on a topic that has not been talked about much. I would further not reveal any more about the plot! So peeps, read on to find out whether Deb will be able to find their 'perfect place'!

Boy this book is a journey. I picked it up thinking it will be an easy breezy rom com. It’s not. It’s about (spoiler I guess?) a couple’s journey to have their child. Sounds sweet? Nope. It’s mediocre. There a lot of polarising comments here and I’ll tell you the book is average at best.
First of all, I don’t buy the couple’s exaggerated feeling of love. If y’all love each other so much, why are you snooping in your partner’s phones and laptops to learn how the other feels? Rather bizarre. They also keep their fertility issues away from each other for a while. Which again does not point to a deeply-in-love couple who just gets each other.
Second, the way the author handles adoption and abortion is deeply offensive. Especially adoption. This couple, which otherwise displays a progressive outlook on life, is so genetics obsessed, it’s cringe. This book only further entrenched my child free opinions.
Lastly, when we start the book, I thought this would be an exploration into how one part of the couple wants kids and the other doesn’t and how they come to terms with their decisions. That’s not what happens. Our lead has a sudden change of heart. So quickly and early on you wonder if they even cared?
Actually one final point - both sets of parents in the book are annoying as hell. So emotional and dramatic it was frustrating to see some of their behaviours be normalised. Especially Deb’s parents. Even though they aren’t the evil parents, their equal obsession with their pregnant DiL was again cringe.

Read it if you are looking for an emotional read - that’s about it.

🖇️The Perfect Us is a lovely tale of Deb and Avantika, the college sweethearts, turned to be a married power couple for a decade, who want to start their own family now.

🖇️The book is all about how they support each other throughout thick and thin as they had a very difficult journey due to some medical complications clinged with a dark past.

🖇️Deb was initially reluctant to have a kid, as he thought Avantika's love would be divided but later he changed his mind. There are numerous vital characters very well portrayed by the author in the book who are constantly supporting the couple.

🖇️The setting of novel is in Delhi. And there are plenty of Indian elements in the book. The title is also apt as Deb and Avantika are shown phenomenally perfect for each other. The narration is also simple yet impressive.

🖇️ The story is full of ebb and flow, as one after another there is a disheartening chronology of tragic events. It is a very emotional journey and will surely leave you teary eyed at least once.

🖇️Despite all the vulnerabilities and obstacles, Deb and Avantika finally end up getting pregnant. But that's not it!! Every new chapter has a surprise wrapped in it. And the climax is also very charmingly written.

🖇️ The book doesn't disappoint in showing the real emotions of marriage very beautifully. I had good time reading this story of unconditional love. I recommend it to all the people who are into contemporary romance fictions.
