După ce am vizitat Natural History Museum la Londra, această carte a venit ca ”unsă”. Din expoziția lui Katie Scott vom cunoaște, cu imagini și texte sugestive, felul în care a evoluat viața pe pământ, de la Big Bang până la apariția omului. Desigur, volumul urmează destul de atent teoria evoluției, așa cum spune și titlul, prin selecția naturală, și ne poartă prin epocile geologice pentru a descoperi cele mai importante plante și animale ale acestora. Potrivit atât pentru adulți, cât și pentru copii.

Bøker om livet på jordas historie er uleselige for de fleste siden de drukner i detaljer og forutsetter at leserne allerede er fortrolige med geologiske tidsperioder og latinsk taksonomi. Denne boka forutsetter svært lite paleontologiforkunnskaper og kan derfor gi en overordnet oversikt over basiskunnskap for å holde oversikt over siste fire milliarder års historie. Selv om det er en faktabok mot ungdommer, er nok innholdet ukjent for nesten alle (voksne) ikke-biologer. Anbefales derfor til alle!

Vážně, vážně doufám, že za ty faktické chyby mohou překladatelky a ne původní autorky. Abych vysvětlila jednu hvězdu, nabídnu dva úryvky:

“Planeta Země vznikla zhruba před 45 miliardami let ve víru prachu a úlomků nerostů, které po sobě zanechal Velký třesk. Dalších 500 milionů let pak trvalo, než se na planetě objevily první známky života. To znamená, že Zemi neobývala žádná zvířata ani rostliny po 90% doby její existence.” (První odstavec (!) knihy. Pochopím chybu v desetiné čárce. To, že nikomu nebyla divná následná čísla a návaznost textu už nepochopím.)

“V období kambria došlo k prudkému rozrůznění forem pozemského života a objevilo se velké množství skupin živočichů, které známe dodnes. V tomto období, trvajícím 20 až 25 milionů let došlo k nejrychlejším proměnám v celé historii naší planety.”
(Druhé použití slova období se vztahuje k trvání kambrické exploze, kambrium trvalo necelých 60 milionů let)

Very informative but I wish the book was bigger and had more extinct animals and plants from the different eras. Artwork is as always stunning. Starts with the origin of life on Earth and ends with the appearance of Homo sapiens. I doubt there is a better book on this subject for kids.

Ik kocht dit boek in het natuurhistorisch museum als een leuke manier om wat onconventioneel Nederlands te oefenen. Een interessant boek met mooie illustraties, eenvoudige uitleg over verschillende tijdperken en de geschiedenis van het leven op aarde zonder wetenschappelijke concepten ter wille van de zaak te ondermijnen.

Dieses war mein erstes Buch der "Eintritt frei" Reihe, wird aber auf keinen Fall das letzte gewesen sein.

Das Cover besticht sofort mit seiner tollen Folienprägung und sieht so sehr hochwertig aus. Die Illustrationen in diesem Buch sind einfach nur toll, mit ganz viel Können und ganz viel Liebe zum Detail fast schon fotografisch gestaltet. Sowohl ich, als auch mein 8 jähriger Sohn waren davon begeistert, auch wenn das Buch nur bedingt etwas für kleinere Kinder ist. Viele Dinge hat mein Sohn allerdings schon verstanden, einiges habe ich ihm auch noch einmal genau erklärt.

Die Entstehung des Lebens begann vor 45 Milliarden Jahren mit unglaublich vielen Entwicklungsprozessen und die Entwicklung der Lebensformen werden durch die detailgenauen Bilder eindrucksvoll beschrieben. Von einzelligen und mehrzelligen Organismen bis hin zu Pflanzen und Tieren und viel später zum Menschen wird in diesem Buch wie in einem Museum alles gut verständlich erklärt. Zu den jeweiligen Bildern, findet man daneben immer genaue Beschreibungen und Erklärungen. Vorn im Buch findet man über 2 Seiten verteilt den Baum des Lebens. Da bekommt man eine exakte Übersicht über die Entwicklung von vor 3 Millionen Jahren bis heute.

Ob über das Zeitalter der Fische, Gehölzpflanzen, oder den Menschen, der Leser bekommt alles so interessant erklärt, da kann man sich noch ganz viel Wissen aneignen oder bereits vorhandenes Wissen auffrischen. Wir sind alle begeistert von dem Buch und ins Regal wird es noch lange nicht wandern, dafür ist es viel zu sehr ein kleiner Schatz.

Jednoduchý obrázkový přehled vývoje života na zemi po geologických epochách, radost si prohlížet.

Bohužel jsou tam chyby. I vypadnutí čárky udělá z 4,5 miliardy let 45 miliard let :(. První kapitola o délce trvání neživota a života ne zemi je vůbec nekonečný zmatek a nepravda.

Chtěla bych vidět originál.

A short but sweet read detailing the evolution of life on Earth from its inception in the Precambrian epoch to the appearance of Homo sapiens. The book is quick to get through and low in detail, sticking to providing just a brief outline of each period in Earth's history and its major transitions in terms of climate, geography, and ecology, but I really enjoyed that the book is committed to providing a general outline of life on Earth, meaning that (almost) as much attention is paid to developments within plant life as within animal life, which is very unusual for books on evolution. However, the real selling point of the book is undoubtedly the wonderful artworks illustrating extinct and extant taxa through the ages, rendered in an old-fashioned "vintage" style which is simply a delight to look at. For that reason alone, this book is worth a read.

Estos libritos son una pequeña maravilla. Bueno, este que es pequeño! Porque los otros de la colección son el doble de grandes. Las ilustraciones son geniales. Los leo y releo con mi peque y disfrutamos un montón viendo los animalitos. A pesar de estar principalmente enfocados a un público infantil/juvenil, siempre se pueden extraer datos curiosos y completar conocimientos que, en mi caso, están un poco oxidados. Se hace en estas páginas un recorrido desde LUCA (last universal common ancestor), hasta los humanos. Es una lástima que no ahonde en el tema de las extinciones y las explicaciones son muy concisas, pero es comprensible dado el objetivo y el alcance del texto. El museo portátil consta de 4 salas: Precámbrico, Paleozoico, Mesozoico y Cenozoico.

Katie Scott hat sie in ihrem detailreichen, fast fotografischen Zeichenstil erneut genial illustriert. Die Schaubilder zeigen die Entwicklung der Lebensformen vom Einzeller bis zum Menschen. Die Farbtafeln sind Kunstwerke für sich, sie beeindrucken durch ihre Naturtreue, Präzission und herausragende Ästhetik. Die interessanten und verständlichen Sacherklärungen führen in ein für jedes Alter faszinierendes Thema ein. Auf dem Rundgang durch das Museum der Evolution begegnen wir seltsamen, oft längst wieder ausgestorbenen Lebewesen: mehrzelligen Tieren, Pflanzen, Fischen, Insekten, Reptilien, Dinosauriern, dem Mammut und dem Säbelzahntiger.
Meine Meinung
Das Cover des Buches finde ich sehr gelungen, da es hervorragend auf das Thema Evolution einstimmt und Lust weckt in die Vergangenheit zu reisen.
Das Buch ist im inneren wie ein Museum aufgebaut. Es gibt einen Eingang, welcher eine kurze Einführung darstellt und anschließend Säle, die sich mit bestimmten Themen genauer auseinandersetzen. Passend dazu gibt es immer sehr anschauliche Illustrationen mit entsprechenden Erklärungen. Letztendlich gibt es im Buch auch eine „Bibliothek“, die das Stichwortverzeichnis darstellt und weiterführende Informationen bietet.

Das Buch enthält viele Information, ist aber dennoch nicht überladen mit diesen. Es wird ein entsprechendes Grundwissen zum Thema Evolution vermittelt, welches vollkommen ausreichend ist. Das Buch ist sehr spannend und man möchte wie in einem Museum immer mehr Dinge erfahren und „weitergehen“. Es gibt innerhalb des Buches sehr viel zu entdecken, besonders die Abbildungen sind sehr detailreich und haben viel zu bieten.

Es handelt sich hier um ein wirklich tolles Sachbuch, welches Aufgrund der wunderschönen Aufmachung auch hervorragend als Geschenk geeignet ist!


Fazit
„Die Entstehung des Lebens. Evolution“ ist ein gelungenes Sachbuch zum Thema Evolution, welches ausreichend Informationen enthält und mit passenden Illustrationen überzeugt. Ein sehr empfehlenswertes Buch für alle, die sich ein Grundwissen zum Thema Evolution aneignen wollen!

Leuk overzicht over de geschiedenis van het leven. Van de eerste organismen tot de megafauna van het Neogeen en uiteindelijk de mens. Ook de dino's komen aan bod, de sauropsiden en synapsiden. Zeer boeiend. Dit boekje is geschreven voor jongeren tussen 10 en 14 jaar en is eigenlijk ideaal al klein tussendoortje tussen de grotere werken over dino's die ik aan het verslinden ben om nog even een totaaloverzicht te hebben over het leven :)

Just gorgeous! A little smaller than others in the "welcome to the museum" series, but no less wonderful for it. Begins with a lovely visual timeline of life on earth, with text carrying us from the Precambrian to the Anthropocene. Would have loved this for the illustrations alone, which are just fantastic.

Brilliant Book

This book was great for me to read with my son at bedtime and to discuss all the species that evolved. The book is written in such a way in that it flows more like a story than simply a non-fiction factual book. Highly recommended.

A concise history of the evolution of Earth and all of its inhabitants from many million years ago to the present day. Filled with an abundance of beautiful illustrations and interesting facts; overall a lovely book to read.

A look at the development of plants and animals from the beginning. It was kept simple for kids. But had lots of great info and pictures.
