Sweet YA love story but too PG for me despite the book touching upon interracial dating between a Chinese man and biracial East Indian/Black woman in Belize. Both grew up there and if you haven’t been to Belize, I’ll tell you, it’s a really diverse country. Lots of cultures thrown together there doing their thing but true to reality, the Chinese migrants tend to stick to their own despite how many generations deep they are in Belize. This is true of Danny, who is deeply in love with his best friend’s little sister. Both are in their early 20s. It is sweet when they finally acknowledge their attraction to each other but we get nothing in the love scene department. Just kisses (her first) and we end on a cliffhanger too. Kind of bummed.
Another sweet BWAM novel by the very talented Miss Arthurs
Gwen & Danny are such a cute couple! I was cheering them on our the gate and I am excited to see how they continue to weather the relationship storms that threaten to separate them. Friends & Family can sometimes be your greatest ally or enemy when it comes to your relationship. These two will definitely have some stories to share with the grand kids one day!
I did not know it was inspiration YA lit when I selected it. It was solid, nice view of a culture I am not aware of, but I wouldn't give it to my niece, either. I like my heroines a little more assertive, but she could be a typical Belizean beauty. I thought the side story and drama were also telegraphed way too early and, yes, it's romance, but I like a dose of plausibility.
Daniel and Gwen were more alike and shared the values and love of each other. They had each other's back and hopefully this new obstacle won't change that.
This was the most boring book. I read 15 chapters and nothing. 1 💋 no sex. So I Sent to the end. Still boring. Not worth it. Not enough sexual tension of sex. Do not waste your money. I glad it was free for me, because I would have been MAD if I paid for this.
